LIVING FREE FROM OFFENSE Luke 17 “Then He said to the disciples, “It is impossible that no ]offenses should come, but woe to him through whom they do come! 2 It would be better for him if a millstone were hung around his neck, and he were thrown into the sea, than that he should [offend one of these little ones. 3 Take heed to yourselves. If your brother sins ]against you, rebuke him; and if he repents, forgive him. 4 And if he wins against you seven times in a day, and seven times in a day returns [to you, saying, ‘I repent,’ you shall forgive him.”
“Offense is an event, but offended is a decision that should not be a season of your life.” -Bernie L. Wade “Do you ever get offended? Has someone ever hurt your feelings, opening the door for strife, anger, or a damaged relationship? Every day, we are presented with multiple opportunities to get offended. It can be as minor as someone cutting us off in traffic or stealing our parking spot. Other times we can feel deeply hurt by a friend's rude or harsh comment. What many people don't know is that offense is one of Satan's greatest tools to steal our peace and rob us of God's blessings. The word "offense" comes from the Greek word scandalon. It is an interesting word that literally describes a trap used to hold bait to lure animals.”38 38
