LAND
Defi ned by three historic rivers, Palmetto Bluff is secluded in the truest sense, and that is surely one of the reasons this land remains so pristine today.
For more than a century, the Bluff has been known to a privileged few as one of the wildest and most beautiful places in the South Carolina Lowcountry. Here, amid spectacular natural beauty rich in wildlife, diverse groups of people create their own legacy of living well by connecting to themselves, their families and other people through self-discovery, sincere interactions with each other, close contact with nature, authentic roots in history and an openness to new ideas.
With a dedication to conservation versus development, here at Palmetto Bluff, every adventure, inside joke and story stays rooted beneath the shelter of century-old live oaks. From calling wild turkeys to calling in your family for a freshly caught dinner, the adventures had here will become the legacies that last generations.
Stay for a little or stay for a lifetime, the magic of Palmetto Bluff is that it stays with you.

Palmetto Bluff Conservancy The Palmetto Bluff Conservancy was founded in 2003 to fulfill the conservation vision of this sacred piece of land in the heart of the Lowcountry. Every homesite and home sale funds this non-profit organization dedicated to protecting the natural resources on the property. The Conservancy is the keeper of the natural and historical world of Palmetto Bluff, and the organization responsible for educating everyone who comes to play, stay or make the Bluff their home.
With a vast outdoor classroom at our fi ngertips, the Conservancy serves as ambassador to each of our residents and guests, introducing them to this special landscape in ways large and small, structured and informal. Tours, classes, workshops, programs, research and fi eld trips are all available to facilitate this environmental learning process. Property owners and guests alike can take a wildlife education class to learn about the many wild species living at Palmetto Bluff. Here, you will learn about the wide variety of habitats — from swamps to fi elds — and their importance for wildlife and people.
For details on the Conservancy’s programs and events, please contact the Palmetto Bluff Conservancy at 843.706.6465. Jay Walea, Director of Palmetto Bluff Conservancy

History History is the fabric of our community, and with the help of an on-site archaeologist, Dr. Mary Socci, we study artifacts that reveal the fascinating details about previous occupants of the area. These artifacts are on display at the Conservancy Reading Room in Moreland Village, with some dating back 12,000 years. The Reading Room features a historic “timeline wall” as well as maps and miniature exhibits. This facility is free and open to the public.

May River Golf Course You might chalk it up to mere curiosity if you wind up in a bunker at the May River Golf Course. After all, it’s not every day you get to walk through sand from Ohio — especially when you’re golfi ng in the South Carolina Lowcountry. But like everything at this beautiful Jack Nicklaus Signature Course, the sand was chosen for a reason, as its angular grain adheres better to sloped surfaces and holds up to coastal weather. Of course, there’s much more than sand on this beautiful par-72 course, which weaves almost 7,200 yards along the banks of the May River.
