The season of spring is upon us, bringing with it a feeling of renewal and the indelible experience of the Lowcountry’s many natural wonders returning from their winter retreats. As the buds begin to open on the azaleas, the anoles begin skittering about and the birds make their way back from their southern winterly retreats, they bring with them all the joys that make our region truly special. Those of us who have made our way to the Lowcountry from other points of the world know that there is nothing like springtime in their adopted home. Here, winter never brings the sort of punishing cold that it might elsewhere, and as such, we get to enjoy the bounty of spring earlier and longer than most. Even those of us who have called the Lowcountry home for most of our lives are not immune to the allure of the Lowcountry in full bloom. As much as a day at the beach, a round of golf or a tranquil kayak trip down a lazy river, it’s a reminder of how lucky we are to call the Lowcountry home. Whether it’s your first spring here or you’ve lost track of how many times you’ve welcomed spring back to the Lowcountry, that inspiring sense of the season never fades. This spring, that sense of renewal means a little bit more.
