This issue of Senior Spectrum explores some of the issues surrounding the past year dealing with COVID-19. Many were excited to see that visitation rules surround nursing home visits have been relaxed so families can see their loved ones. Rules of access have also been lifted in senior communities where residents have gotten their COVID vaccines. This has been a community-wide effort including Washoe County, the City of Reno, and RTC transportation.
The City of Reno Fire Department provided vaccinations at the Neil Road Recreation Center to many older adults living in the community, while the RTC has been providing free rides to vaccination locations. Now that many of us are receiving our second vaccination, the CDC has published rules surrounding outdoor activity and visiting loved ones, friends, and neighbors. We are getting closer all the time to ending the spread of the virus, but we must still be cautious and not let down our guard.
