He was the first doctor chair. Now it has a beautiful, brand new, in Chase and served the community custom designed cushion! We are very until his death in 1947. Dr. Scatchard was grateful for Jim’s help making the chair known as someone “who never, in good look complete and ready for display weather or bad, failed to answer a call inside the museum. While the chair does for assistance.” There was a hospital built look inviting, you unfortunately cannot across from their home but when the sit in it. Ingredients: 1 cup tahini ½ cup coconut sugar 1 large egg 2 tsp pure vanilla extract ½ tsp baking soda 1 (100g) 70% (or higher) dark chocolate bar, roughly chopped 1/4 tsp coarse sea salt

and baking soda. With a spatula, fold in chocolate until evenly incorporated. 3. Krush Dance Advertorial by author and journalist Carolyn Parks Mintz

The Place Upper Level, Royal Bank Building, Shuswap Ave & Chase Street • 403.391.1148 • krushdance.com Facebook • krushdance@hotmail.com The Management Kelly Mykyte The Story The saying “Dance like nobody’s watching!” has resonated with Kelly Mykyte since she was a toddler. Beginning with lessons and competition at the age of three, through to her teens, this talented dance aficionado has passed on her love of artistic expression to many others through creative, enthusiastic instruction and encouragement. Her broad experience is augmented by attending certification classes and keeping up to date with the dance world. In that Kelly had taught in Alberta, a family move to British Columbia in 2016 led to her establishing a successful dance academy in Ashcroft, and in the fall of 2020, to starting classes in Chase as well. Krush Dance is a recreational studio welcoming participants from ages three and up—boys, girls, men and women. Miss Kelly, as her students affectionately call her, firmly believes in the potential of every student to develop competent, imaginative dance moves while having fun, without the pressure and time competition requires. Seeing the pleasure and accomplishments of her apprentices as their skills grow is more than fulfilling for this keen instructor. And the fact that dance lessons can lead to a lifelong love of keeping active and fit

is definitely an added bonus—for teacher and students alike. The repertoire offered by Krush Dance includes various dance styles. With HipHop being a popular choice among the younger set, Kelly also offers a Jazz/Hiphop class that combines upbeat music with dual styles involving flexibility, technique, endurance, style and coordination. Tap is a favourite as well and is open to all ages. Acro dance, often referred to as gymnastic dance, combines classical dance techniques with precision acrobatic elements. And Lyrical is a style that’s a fusion of Ballet, Jazz and Contemporary, performed to music with lyrics, and designed to inspire emotional movements. Not all children choose sports as extra-curricular a c t i v i t i e s . The musical interpretation encouraged through dance lessons is complemented by the skills, balance, dexterity and exercise inherent in them. Krush Dance provides local options for youngsters (and adults) alike. Miss Kelly’s spring session is scheduled to begin April 21st and, depending on registration, could include Lyrical, Contemporary, Acro, Jazz and even Bollywood, a new style that’s a blend of East Indian dance steps, R&B, and Hip Hop. Appropriate COVID precautions will be in place as required—virtual lessons, masks, limited class numbers, and the like. Fees are reasonable and the fun is immeasurable at Krush Dance. Kelly’s dedication and her passion for her profession are a winning combination. As she says, “Dancing is dreaming—only through your feet.” Great idea!

Telecommunication Infrastructure Survey submitted by Village of Chase

The Village of Chase has been approached by two telecommunications companies notifying the Village of their desire to upgrade cell phone and internet technology in the village. This would require the installation of towers to improve communications infrastructure in the Village and put it on par with surrounding areas. While municipal approval is not a requirement of the approval process through the CRTC, it certainly helps to have local support demonstrated through a Council resolution. Through the process of updating the Official Community Plan, it was mentioned by many in the community that cell service in Chase can be spotty and

that internet service is slow. Policies within the draft OCP indicate that the Village should advocate for better service in the community to improve quality of life for residents, assist with emergency response, and support local business. The Village has also heard concerns from some residents on the perceived health impacts of cell towers in particular. In order to help Council with developing a position on whether to support these projects, we are asking for input from residents on this matter. Please look for a survey in your mail in the next week. There is also an online survey and the link is located on the Village’s website www.chasebc.ca

HAPPY EARTH DAY! Thursday, April 22, 2021 submitted by Chase Environmental Action Group

Earth Day, a day when the world celebrates our planet and we pledge to keeping it strong and healthy! Here are 10 ideas to help make everyday Earth Day, each action counts! 1. Go for a hike! The simplest way to celebrate the Earth is to explore it! 2. Start a garden - it’s never been easier to grow your own veggies turn plants into nourishment! 3. Shop at our local Farmers’ Market! Many farmers use certified organic practices, reducing the amount of synthetic pesticides and chemicals that pollute our soil and water. Our local market opens Friday May 21 10 - 2pm *NOTE new location - Shuswap Ave just west

of RCMP station 4. Clean-up Party! It’s always nice to spend the day at the park, it’s even nicer if you could leave that place (or any place) in better shape than how you found it! 5. Start a “Zero Waste Challenge”! Consider a whole week/month of minimizing your waste production - a more prolonged way to honour Mother Earth! 6. Ditch the Plastic Straw! Plastic straws take up to 200 years to degrade (break down into smaller bits) and release chemicals into the soil, air, and water that are harmful to the environment.

7. Compost Food Waste - It is easy, dirt cheap, and helps make a healthy, thriving garden! 8. Leave Your Car at Home! Ride your bike - less pollution, less traffic and think of the gas money you’ll save! 9.

Don’t Idle in Your Car! 2 minutes of idling is equivalent to driving 1.6 km (wastes gas and bad for the environment). Myth: “Restarting your car does not burn more fuel than leaving it idling.”

10. Go For the Cone! Always choose to have ice cream in a cone, who needs a plastic spoon and cup when you can eat the bowl?! A healthy planet in not an option - it is a necessity! Please help out and make our Earth stronger and healthier!
