Canada Day Celebrations

submitted by Chase Festival Society We are just a few days away from another season of the Village of Chase Lakeside Music Series, starting with the much anticipated Canada Day celebrations. The activities will commence with the annual parade at 12pm which runs from Safety Mart to PharamChoice. Businesses, nonprofits, and individuals are all welcome to register online at ChaseFestival.ca/ parade. Kids are always welcome and encouraged to decorate their bikes and scooters, and adults with legalized golf-carts are also invited to join in the patriotic fun. Down at the Chase Memorial Park, opening ceremonies will start at 2pm with dignitary speeches and cake. Kids activities will also start at 2pm and will feature an assortment of classic games and crafts. The beer garden and vendors will also be open for business to keep everyone hydrated and fed. If you are interested in setting up a booth please visit ChaseFestival. ca/vendors for more information. Performances on the mainstage include Seal Skull Hammer, Andy & Cece and the Locals, Jeremy Kneeshaw, Tennessee Walker, and DJ Spun Logic. Check out next week’s Sunflower for more information on these great acts. At dusk, get your lawn chairs set up along the beach or head out on your boat for a fantastic fireworks show from the end of the red pier. The Chase & District Festival Society would like to acknowledge the financial support from the Government of Canada to host this year’s event.

Canada Day Music Series Line-up and Bios

Seal Skull Hammer 3pm to 4pm Seal Skull Hammer is a Canadian band that was born high in the majestic mountains of British Columbia. Sprung from once-a-week summer jams on Alton Gowen’s front porch in the sunny Shuswap these three melodious mountain musicians have joined forces, moving off the front porch and onto the stage, as the band Seal Skull Hammer. These three do-it-yourselves of the doctrinal ditty are named for the idea of using archaic tools to build what they need, the band prides itself on having the lowest-tech gear possible to make their music, giving up doctored sound effects and synthesizers for home-made instruments and hillbilly harmonies. They hope to entertain you, laugh with you, and send you home feeling better than when you arrived. So put away your toil, ease your mortal coil, put your woes and worries in the slammer and listen to some Seal Skull Hammer. Andy & Cece and the Locals 4:30pm to 5:30pm Andy & Cece will be providing karaoke equipment and songs, locals will be singing their favourites by Canadian artists. If you would like to join in, please contact Sue at 250-819-4501 or suzibepple@outlook.com/

Jeremy Kneeshaw 6pm to 7pm Jeremy Kneeshaw has made an interesting impact on the music community around BC by capturing the audience with one of the most energetic stage performances in the province. Working as a hired gun for over 8 bands and recording with many different artists of all ages and genres, Kneeshaw has found his niche with his own group, the Jeremy Kneeshaw Band with a variety of genres and covers, and entertaining crowds big and small with musical stylings, relatable lyrics and facemelting guitar solos.9:00pm - Shattered Blue, Kamloops BC

Canada Day Music Series

Spun Logic 9:30pm to 10:30pm Ty aka SpunLogic is a long time vinyl collector and dance music enthusiast. Falling in love with the underground dance/rave scene in 99-2000 changed the way Ty perceived music and life. The purity of the sounds of electronic music began an obsession that would last for the next two decades. He started going to see big Djs and music producers perform at giant underground warehouse parties and music festivals as well as collecting as much vinyl records as he could afford. What started as a milk crate of records and playing house parties soon turned into a wall of records, multiple club residencies, headline spots at Warehouse events and outdoor summer festivals and a love for House, breaks, dnb and electro that will never leave his mind, soul and heart. Ty found him self infatuated with the rush and feeling of locking in to a dance floor’s vibe

Continued... and just making people dance and have fun! Receiving smiles is addicting. SpunLogic has been on tour multiple times around BC and has been known to change up his style and sound as well as his medium with the ages. Being a Dj in his mid 30s has left him with less time to compete with the ambitious kids in the scene of today. So if you get to see SpunLogic mix some records for an event, it must be a special event, and know this. You are all stars on the dance floor when Spunlogic is laying down beats.
