Fire Depts Collaborate
for Canada Day by Cavelle Layes
Chase Fire Rescue and Adam’s Lake Fire are teaming up to offer a Canada Day event to remember. Both fire departments will be at Memorial Park following the parade on July 1st, hosting a junior firefighter’s challenge. The event will feature all of the signature makings of the international firefighter’s challenge, with a few twists to allow children of all ages to take part. From hose pulls, to rescue maneuvers, kids will need to test their strength and speed while making their way to the end of the course. There is no cost to enter, and there is plenty of fun to be had. A special course will be set up from toddler aged children, which will be full of excellent photo opportunities. A craft table will be available, complete with everything needed to make a fun and colourful masterpiece to take home. A booth will also be set up where community members can learn about their local fire departments, safety tips, and information on how to join both departments. Sparky the fire dog will be on site and fire truck tours will be taking place throughout the day. Come out and meet your local firefighters, learn what they do, what events they have coming up, how you can get involved, and of course to have your little ones try the Firefighter Challenge.
