CSS Leadership Class Walk with Elders submitted by Mercedes Settle, CSS Leadership Class
The Village of Chase is certainly a beautiful and welcoming place for all ages to live and grow; save for one age group who have less opportunities for their self development in the wintertime than the rest of us. That self development of course is physical Exercise, and the age group is the Elderly, who may not want to risk strolling on our slick streets and our hills with steep frictionless declines. However, the leadership class of Chase Secondary School strikes again; this time not in the form of an awesome haunted house, but by forming a committee to
safely escort the Elderly around the donut-shaped school’s halls during class hours and early lunch when the high school is less populated. Members of this committee hope this will one day evolve into a weekly social opportunity for intergenerational exchanges and hopefully combat ephebiphobia (the fear of teenagers), offer more Exercise options to those with limited mobility, and bring a greater sense of unity to this already thriving winter paradise we live in.

HOCKEY FIREWORKS submitted by Scott Koch, Chase Heat
Much like fireworks, hockey has it’s kaboom, boom, boom, and every once in a blue moon, a dud. So went the past week for the Chase HEAT Hockey Club. On Wednesday the 22nd in the confines of Memorial Arena in Kamloops the locals met up with the STORM. This contest was the dud, no pyro explosions, no kaboom! Chase started well, Evan Hughes scoring shorthanded helped by Josh Bourne. Kamloops got that back and it was 1-1 after 1. In the 2nd Pat Brady from Colton Nikiforuk and Hughes regained the lead before the STORM evened the match up, 2-2 after 2. In the 3rd Kaden Black from Bourne and Cory Loring gave the HEAT the lead again. However the Loops lads scored 3 in a row with little or no resistance and this one was done. Except Loring on the man advantage from Black and Brady made the final score respectable, Kamloops taking a 5-4 win. Mathew Ens stopped 38 of 40 prior to leaving with a serious injury, Billy
Cawthorn came in and repelled 8 of 11 in a losing effort. Friday night the 24th the HEAT travelled to Armstrong to take on the North Okanagan Knights. Neither crew scored in the 1st on this Black Friday. However Kaden Black popped in the lone goal of the 2nd from Ryan Okino and Grady Musgrave. In the 3rd “Black Friday” Black got his 2nd from Bourne and this one went in the books a 2-0 shutout victory. Conor Webb flashed the leather all night long stopping 31 of 31. Black was a smooth operator in a game the Coaches labelled a smooth contest. Saturday Night was all right for fighting but no fisticuffs erupted when the Revelstoke GRIZZLIES came to town to meet up with the HEAT. The Mountain Mecca boys book ended a goal by Loring assisted by Brett Alexander. After 1 the score 2-1 for the visitors. In the 2nd Bourne notched things at 2-2 from Okino, but the Stoke squad buried a pair to end
40 minutes 4-2 for Revelstoke. The 3rd featured some thrilling edge of your seat play with Chase scoring a pair. Jayce Schweitzer on the man advantage from Alexander, and then a back breaker shorthanded tally from Black helped by Bourne and Brady. After 60 the score 4-4. In the 1st overtime Brady was the hero scoring unassisted as he pickpocketed a Grizzly and lazered a shot. Kaboom, boom, boom as the fans erupted and rejoiced. Webb repelled 36 of 40 to backstop the HEAT victory A hard fought battle to best a Division rival and remain in 2nd spot in the Division. In a weird quirk in the schedule, the same combatants have a playoff type reunion as the GRIZZLIES reappear from a brief hibernation to face the HEAT on Wednesday the 29th. With such little like between the two this one is a must watch at the Art Holding Memorial Arena.

Do you keep finding the ‘almost’ perfect home? You’ve been looking at properties and every time you start to get excited - you find a costly upgrade that needs immediate attention. Consider a ‘purchase plus improvements’ mortgage. It allows you to build the cost of these renovations into your mortgage, instead of trying to find the money for these upgrades or racking up credit card bills. If this sounds like the perfect fit for you, contact me for more information.

Built in approx 1908. Has many of the historic qualities. High ceilings, original doors, banisters, plank flooring under some carpets... & it just feels like a happy residence! Has not been on the market for over 60 years! Currently has 6 bdrms & 1.5 bathrooms with the old claw tub. According to the history books this was originally a boarding house and some extra doors upstairs are evidence of this. On large corner lot with det shop & paved lane in the backyard. The total lot is 180 x110...house sits on 120x110 & there is 2 lots beside measuring 60x110... seller would consider selling separately or as a package deal. Choice is yours...redo a piece of history or take this large flat property & make some history of your own! $399,000
