Art Holding Arena nominated for Kraft Hockeyville

W

submitted by Chase Minor Hockey

e have applied on behalf of our community and arena for the Kraft Hockeyville contest, which gives a chance to win $250,000 and host an NHL game! Many people in our community have fond memories of lacing up their little ones first pair of skates, for the first time and stepping out in the ice of our beloved arena. While our arena has been there for us, it is our time to be there for it. Our great staff has done an exceptional job taking care of the building and equipment, but sometimes care is not enough and sometimes we need to apply for great competitions like Kraft Hockeyville who can gives the opportunity to win amazing prizes for thing like our non-functional heating system, and zamboni. We have the privilege of being part of this amazing contest to help fix some of these issues, and hopefully add some more things that we have long wanted

such as upgrades for dressing rooms, and a play area for little little ones while older siblings are on the ice. The contest is currently in the "Nominate and rally" phase until February 14th and you can help support the cause. Get on the Kraft Hockeyville website - click find your arena - search for Art Holding Memorial arena and share your story, photos, videos and/ or notes of encouragement. 1 note per email address and every one gets us a vote. Every little bit of support helps our chance to win! Our local advocates have stepped up in a big way to get us this far, but now we need your help. Let's show them how much we care and please do your part. Let's take advantage of this opportunity to help our community and arena to be around in top shape for the next generations to enjoy as we all have!

Heat Guys Run Amazing Race in Chase submitted by Karen Bassett, Chase Heat

The Chase Heat Hockey Society decided to plan an amazing race Covid style for the hockey players that have been patiently waiting for February 5 to roll around, in hopes that they can continue to play the sport they love so much. As you can all relate, team morale was starting to slide and of course team bonding activities fall into social gathering so that doesn’t help the guys. So a plan was formulated. Let’s run an amazing race but under COVID rules and guidelines. The plan took place last Saturday and had the guys in teams of 2, so 12 teams doing 12 different activities, at 12 different locations, all at the same time. The idea was to run not one race, but essentially 12 different races all at one time. So that only one team was at each location at one time. The racers went to the Chase Creek falls area and had to “smoosh race” on 2x4s, then to Eye Candy for some hidden treats, the Chase Library to find a hidden book, the arena for some skills and drills,

Memorial Park for an obstacle challenge, the dog Park for a different challenge, the Chase Curling rink, to “curl like a girl”, to Aspire Fitness for an egg chugging challenge, the Beatty Farm for some archery, Garrick Automotive to change a tire, Village Lanes for a round of bowling, and the Chase Museum for a nerf shoot out. Each challenge was uniquely different, and kept them hopping around town. The Heat guys enjoyed the opportunity to have a fun afternoon, and the participating businesses enjoyed helping out hiding clues, running challenges etc. Special thanks to our prize sponsors, Mazu logging, Pete’s Pizza, and Village Lanes bowling centre, and thank you to all the businesses above for allowing and supporting this race. You all made 24 guys have a great enjoyable day.
