Tuesday night's band, Me and Mae from Vancouver BC sure knew how to entertain the crowd, even in the hot hot sun! They played a mix of their original music with a country twang, to some rock and roll classics from Melissa Etheridge, The Beatles and a little CCR! Safety Mart Foods, the evening's presenting sponsor was set up at the park giving away cold bottles of water and potato chips, both the Rotary and Lion's Club were on site serving up customers and the beer garden was full! It was a great night had by all :)

Hi, It’s me Rusty. Yep, I wrote that letter way back in February hoping that someone would listen and erect a dog park so we could run free and play just like the kids in the school yard. My voice seems to have fallen on deaf ears. No one cares about us except maybe the hundreds of masters to whom we entrust and give our unconditional love. I don’t get it! There is this place central to all that is called Wilson park and well, no-one goes there, ever! Please I beg of you, put a fence around it , if you will. Let us have a place to call our own. It’s not too much to ask, is it?

Maybe I should call on my K9 friends and have them gather at the doorstep of the municipal office to protest the lack of understanding or maybe we could bring in the media- CNN even. I am sure that they could muster up some kind of fake news in our favor. Anyway I want all the readers to think about where I am coming from. I need your help. My four legged friends need your help. Music on the Lake: Musician Profile

Flint & Feather

submitted by Chase & District Festival Society

Flint & Feather are a free-spirited husband and wife duo who are deeply passionate about connecting with people through folk/roots music, stories, and laughter. Based in Calgary, Alberta, band members Joal and Lauren Kamps blend storytelling with songwriting to create charming ‘Rocky Mountain Folk-Pop’ songs inspired by Canadian history, rocky mountain folklore, and their own personal journeys. Their original songs are filled with vivid imagery accented by delicate harmonies, and their honest and engaging approach to performing connects with listeners of all ages and backgrounds. The Kamps’ first began exploring professional performance together after both being invited to attend Canada’s Music Incubator’s Artist Entrepreneur Program in Toronto, Ontario. Soon afterwards Joal and Lauren performed cross-Canada as a duo in partnership with VIA Rail’s Artists On Board Program, followed by an independently booked 27-date European Tour. Things have not slowed down for

Flint & Feather either. This past year alone they performed another 32-date European Tour, this time joined by their new daughter, Luna. The Kamps’ then spent the remainder of the year touring 30+ additional events throughout western Canada, performing at a host of different music festivals, community events, summer concert series, and intimate house concerts. Joal and Lauren are currently focused on honing their songwriting craft for their 2018 debut release(s) as Flint & Feather. Finalists in the Prophets of Music’s 2018 Emerging Artist Program, the Kamps’ will be recording singles with Juno award-winning producer/musician Russell Broom throughout the year. Lauren and Joal will also be attending the 2018 Hornby School for Emerging Artists this summer during a four-week tour of western Canada. Then, in the fall, Joal will attend the Banff Centre’s Early Fall Musicians in Residence Program , where Flint & Feather will record their debut EP.

out the little town of Chase, located on the shores of the Little Shuswap Lake. It was on the route to Revelstoke, so it worked well for me. After a swim in the lake, I decided to stay here for the night. I met a nice Canadian couple by the lake who gave me some further recommendations for my travels. This shot was taken the next morning, just after a quick 7am dip.

HEAT HOCKEY-Hot in August & September submitted by Scott Koch, Chase Heat

It’s been awhile since we have discussed the Nation’s Pass time and we are overdue on updates on the local scene. Brad Fox the Head Coach, has been busy beating the bushes to find the right player or two… or three to make this seasons’ roster entertaining. His efforts have borne fruit, and the kilometers and meetings with kids and parents has paid off. Now is the time for the ardent fan to grab a couple of season tickets or open your home to a player or two. While its scorching outside the coolest spot in town is the Art Holding Memorial Arena in August and September. From

Tuesday August 7th to Thursday the 9th young up and comers will taste their first experience of Junior Hockey at the

HEAT “Road to Junior” Camp. It’s free to watch and an escape from the hot outside. Next up is the “Prospects” Camp which will be a good look at the 2018-19 squad. From Saturday the 10th until Monday the 13th the pucksters will be working to impress

the decision makers. This early look at the new version of the HEAT is also free, and cool! Last but not least, Main Camp runs the 30th-31st to get the lads gelling together as a cohesive unit. The coolest spot in town is where the action will happen! The Regular Season 49 game schedule commences Saturday, September 8th at 7 pm at home versus the Kelowna Chiefs. The fans will be seeing Kootenay teams this year as the KIJHL has gone back to having crossovers. We look forward to some great Junior Hockey action coming to OUR town very soon!
