Medical Clinic Remains Open

For issues that require an examination, we don appropriate protective equipment and disinfect all rooms and high touch surfaces before and after the visit. These practices will continue over the summer months. The Emergency Room portion of the Chase Health Centre has undergone a few changes. People presenting with respiratory symptoms or have risk factors for COVID19 enter through a separate door and are seen in an area that now has the capability of being completely closed off from all other areas of the Health Centre. This set up will remain for the summer. If you feel like you need emergency medical services here in Chase or anywhere else, please do not hesitate to seek care. It is safe to do so. In Chase, our hours of Monday-Friday 8AM - 3PM remain the same. Access to Lab and X-ray has also changed. Currently, walk-in visits for lab or x-ray are no longer offered in order

to decrease traffic through the waiting room. Please call ahead to receive an appointment time. Currently, it is recommended that anyone with symptoms of a cold or flu that is consistent with COVID19 be swabbed. This is very important to prevent further outbreaks. Please reach out to your family physician for details if you feel you require a swab. You can also visit https:// news.interiorhealth.ca/news/ testing-information/ and call a swabbing centre directly. If you do not have symptoms you do not require a swab. Childhood immunizations are still extremely important during this time. Please contact Public Health as usual. British Columbia has done exceptionally well with decreasing and preventing COVID19transmission during this first wave of the pandemic. It is a true pleasure to work and live in this community. Well done and thank you, Chase.

Council passed a resolution to send a letter to the Provincial Government asking them for funding for a Highway Rescue vehicle. Council has been asking the Province to increase its financial supports to the Highway Rescue services for several years now, in order that the small community of Chase can continue to support this valuable service.

Council adopted Bylaw 888-2020 which is the 2020 to 2024 Financial Plan Bylaw. Council gave third reading and adopted the 2020 Tax Rate Bylaw. Council passed a motion not to provide the Summer Recreation Program this year due to the Covid-19 pandemic. They agreed it would be difficult to ensure the required physical distancing of young children and would put the play leaders in a difficult and challenging position. Council gave three readings to the Alternative Municipal Tax Collection Scheme Amendment Bylaw which will, once adopted relieve residential property taxpayers of penalties for non-payment

Council discussed the proposed opening of the Visitor Information Centre at the Chamber office to the public - Council was unanimous in its request to the Chamber not to open the Visitor Information Centre to the public until after the May long weekend. With only essential travel being encouraged by the Provincial Health Officer, that the 'opening up' of BC is to occur after the May long weekend, and only local tourism being promoted, Council is of the opinion that opening the Visitor Information Centre before the long weekend will send the wrong message to the public that Chase is encouraging non-essential travel. Council considered a proposal from Brad Fox of the Chase Heat to conduct a dry floor socially distanced hockey development skills program at the Art Holding Memorial Arena. Council will ask to be shown the physical set-up of the proposed program before making a final decision. The meeting adjourned at 4:51 p.m. The next meeting will be held via Zoom on May 26, 2020 at 4:00 p.m.

"Re-Start BC Plan" in Chase As most of us have heard, BC's Provincial Government has announced their 'Re-Start BC Plan', with Phase II of the plan beginning to be instituted after the upcoming long weekend. Under enhanced protocols, the nonessential retail sector, hair salons, office-based worksites, recreation/ sports and other services will be opening up again while respecting social/physical distancing and other

safety protocols. As we are still under the threat of the coronavirus, with safe protocols in place, including regular hand washing, 2 m (6 feet) physical distancing and staying home if you are sick, our economy can slowly re-open to provide the services that have not been available to us since the middle of March, 2020. The Village of Chase is working on its own strategy for the opening up

of various services in Chase that have been closed, and will be providing an update to the community next week. While not everything can re-open, some of our facilities will become available to small groups under enhanced safety protocols. Stay tuned to the Village's website and the Village's Facebook page for updates early next week.
