Adult Day Care Bus: Vital Service Where is the bus? Right now it is sitting beside the Adult Daycare building and not being used. The people who use this bus are very concerned. Its for the use of seniors and people with disabilities. Picking them up from home for their baths and getting them together. The bus was donated by the Chase Lions, the Legion and RBC for this purpose. if this service stops we are afraid in time our daycare will close. We don’t want that to happen. Too many people rely on this service. We’re getting no answers. What can we do?
Dolores Phillips, Chase BC
Are you dreaming of living in a new home with modern colors , high ceilings , open floor plan, huge ensuite, and stainless steel appliances? Do you dream of living close to the lake and raising your kids in a house they can be proud of? Is the only thing holding you back is $$$$? Well dreams can come true! Come take a look at this 2016 manufactured home that will make you proud to call home! The yard is the biggest in the park and only has neighbours on one side.. Come take a look here before you settle on something else. $195,000
On being a care giver... If you are a care giver in a small town or village, your only help is 4 hours a week which you get to take your spouse to Adult care or the bus picks them up as a lot of the care givers don’t drive. Those are a precious 4 hours for us.

Interior Health statement on bus service interruption Submitted by Interior Health
Interior Health regrets that, due to circumstances beyond our control, there has been an interruption to the bus service that takes clients to adult day services and the bath program in Chase. We are working to find alternatives to this service, and will advise our clients as soon as we are able to arrive at a solution. It’s important to know that, during this time, the adult day service and
bath program continue to operate, although clients will need to temporarily find alternate transportation. If transportation is not available, we would encourage clients to contact Interior Health to discuss options. We wish to thank the community for their patience while we work on resolving this matter.

BOOK REVIEW by Ashton Sweetnam Birdie by Tracey Lindberg
Birdie was shortlisted in this year’s CBC’s Canada Reads competition. This is dark and funny book is about a young Cree woman on a personal journey that takes her great distances both emotionally and physically as she travels throughout western Canada thinking about her past traumas and confusing experiences.
The protagonist of this book is a complicated woman and the plotline and narrative reflect her complexity. At times difficult to follow, the authors’ disjointed method of writing lends depth to the characters, and ultimately she creates a cast of characters that readers come to care about. Well worth the read, Birdie is inspiring and well written.

Recap of Music on the Lake
Week Eight! Coming home to visit family, share his musical talents and open week eight was Singer/Songwriter and aspiring young artist, John Herman. He opened for the traveling Celtic Rock band from Vancouver, BC...Greg Drummond! This young man knows how to work a crowd, getting everyone to move their chairs closer to the stage, then rising to their feet and singing along for the last song! An entertaining evening had by all! He even ran out of merchandise so we should be hearing Greg Drummond playing all over town for months! Week Nine! Opening for week nine was newcomer to Chase, James Mintz! He entertained the crowd with some classic favorites before the main event of the evening! Back by popular demand, and without a doubt the crowd favorite of the season....the classic rock sensation, Shattered Blue! What a way to end the season! Took a little convincing, but by the end of show...the dance floor was in full swing! Classic Rock is a definite favorite for Chase! The Music on the Lake Organizing Committee would like to thank the following sponsors: Village of Chase Chase & District Festival Society Lisa Atkinson Riley & Associates Realty Ltd. We would also like to acknowledge ALL the incredible volunteers that helped throughout the season making this so successful. The Chase Women in Business Group volunteered the entire 9 week series, organizing a schedule where 2 ladies volunteered weekly to purchase groceries, and prepare snacks for our Opening & Main Act performers! The set up and take down every week could not have gone so smoothly without the muscles on the committee, Joe Lapinsky from Forest Garden Soap & Sundry! Also, huge thank you to Shirley, Jaya, Makayla, Quinn, Chase, Pawasin and Ethan for helping out throughout the summer! We’d also like to acknowledge all the incredible vendors we had this summer! It started a little slow, but as a new event we anticipated this! If you build it, they will come....and they did! We can vision the line of Food Trucks next summer and a Park Market FULL of vendors for residents and tourists alike to enjoy! The committee would also like to thank the very hardworking team at GK Sound in Kamloops for all their expertise and help making this happen!! We really appreciate all that you’ve done for us this summer! And to the community of Chase, THANK YOU! It was your support weekly that made this the success it was! It truly has been a great pleasure for the committee to witness the spirit and gathering that this event has brought to the community of Chase! See you next summer!

Hello again everyone! The first week of leagues will be all wrapped up by the time you are reading this, and what a blast it has been to see all of our amazing bowlers back for another season! People have been asking how our leagues are shaping up, and to answer your question: they are filling up quickly! Having said that, it still isn’t too late if you want to get in on the fun and join a league! Please don’t hesitate to stop in and see us, or call for more information! Because it is the first week of the season, and there really isn’t a whole ton to write about just yet; we would like to take this opportunity to thank our sponsors! We have a group of sponsors who are responsible for providing our league bowlers with weekly prizes on each and every league. Thank you to our weekly sponsors: Chase Napa Auto Parts, Liquid Hair, Silver Linings New & Used, Safety Mart, Scentsy by Dalana,
Chase Subway, Pete’s Pizza, Chase Home Hardware, Craigs Bakery, The Chase Heat, and Chase A&W. The continued support season after season is so greatly appreciated. We also have a group of 400 Club sponsors that pay out cash prizes to any league or tournament bowler that is lucky enough to bowl a 400 game or higher! A big thank you to our 400 Club Sponsors: Rod Thiessen at Salmon Arm GM, Direct Cash Shuswap, The Chase Fire Department, inTechrity Solutions, Lyles Concrete, Jodi Gibson at Century 21, Emerald City Fire Works, and Chase Upholstery. I know that this was a tedious column this week, but these businesses really do deserve to be recognized! Next weeks column will be full of high scores (hopefully) and memorable moments from the first week of the 20162017 season at Village Lanes! Cheers folks!
