Pin Chatter: Bowling Alley News by Cayln Buresh, Village Lanes

Hello again everyone! I hope you’ve all had a great work week and are ready to enjoy the weekend! As a lot of you may recall, we recently sent a group of our youth bowlers to Kelowna last weekend for the Youth Championship Zone Finals! Unfortunately, none of these young bowlers will be advancing on to Provincials, but we sure are proud of them. They battled as best they could, and congratulations to Tanner Arnouse, our Bantam Boy representative on earning a third place bronze medal at the event. Way to go kids! One thing that I really want to touch on this week, is businesses supporting businesses. We are very fortunate in our industry to be able to provide a venue to numerous businesses for staff outings, fundraisers, and Christmas Parties! I would just like to thank a number of

businesses who have supported us this winter season by allowing us to host their Christmas Staff Parties! Recently we have been fortunate enough to host the Chase Canada Post, Chase RCMP, as well as the Blind Bay Village Grocer! Thank you to all of these special groups, we have had a ton of fun hosting each and every one of you. A thank you in advance to Peoples Food & Drug, and Econospan, who will be hosting their Christmas parties here in the upcoming weeks! In BOWLING news. We have our 10 Game Singles Tournament happening this Sunday at Village Lanes. This is one of our more competitive tournaments, so if you’re looking for something to do this weekend, stop in and see some of the talent that our province has to offer! Have a great weekend everyone! Cheers!

Holiday Train on route to Chase

Jim Cuddy, known for the band Blue Rodeo, along with his son Devin Cuddy and award winning artist Kelly Prescott, will be performing at the Chase event. “The Holiday Train is an amazing expression of old-timey Canadian joy,” said Cuddy, who was given the Order of Canada earlier this month. “As we pull into towns and cities along the way, we also see all the people assembled to celebrate and who are filled with the Christmas spirit - it is an incredible experience for those of us on the train.” Since 1999 the program has raised over C$10.6 million and 3.6 million pounds of food. Each Holiday Train is about 1,000 feet in length with 14 rail cars

decorated with hundreds of thousands of technology-leading LED lights and a modified boxcar that has been turned into a traveling stage for performers. Each year, fans of the Holiday Train follow its journey over social media, posting spectacular images of the trains in various cities and landscapes. Those who take photos can enter the “Capture the Spirit” photo contest for the chance to win an exclusive ride on next year’s train. Details are available on the Holiday Train Facebook page. The train will stop across from the Chase RCMP building on Thursday, December 17th at 2:50 and the event takes place from 3 – 3:30 pm.
