My husband, Bill Bartsch, and I of the DivorceCare Support Group, each went through divorce before we found and married each other. We lead weekly DivorceCare Support Group meetings. DivorceCare is a 13-week, Christian based video programme for people going through a divorce or separation. The new session will meet Tuesday nights, 7 to 9pm starting April 10th at North Shuswap Christian Fellowship Church, Butters Rd. Scotch Creek. You don’t have to be a Christian to come. share what they’ve been going through. The group originated about 20 years ago in North Carolina and I have been involved for several years, mostly when I lived in the Fraser Valley. I have seen people gain confidence and hope as they progress through the programme. Plus, with the national divorce rate at about 40 percent, there is a need for DivorceCare. Bill agreed and said “the series can help others, even if they just come to listen. Divorce is open heart surgery, emotionally. It’s a marathon when you are hurting. There’s never a time when you have to speak, but most people open up and get a lot out of it.” Group discussion topics include: anger, loneliness, depression, new relationships, how divorce affects kids, and more. Each week covers a different subject, but people can start at any time. Each session is a standalone. We stress that we are not counselors, there’s so much information from experts. Every time I watch the video I still get something out of it. “Everyone is welcome to attend no matter their experience. There’s never any judgment.” Bill said, “It’s like a death. You need a grieving period.” As a participant from our last session shared: “When we heard about DivorceCare, my family suggested I go, since through all my troubles and pain I have never had any help. First step was to be brave enough to try it. I am so thankful that I can move on with no more baggage.” DivorceCare meetings go from 7 to 9 pm every Tuesday, from April 10th until July 3rd. Registration is not necessary and there is only a small charge of $20.00 which covers the cost of a workbook. Call 250-955-6379 with questions or visit divorcecare.org for more information. Lemon Bundt Cake 3 cups all-purpose flour 1 teaspoon baking powder 1/4 teaspoon salt 1 cup unsalted butter, softened 2 cups sugar 3 eggs 1/2 cup buttermilk 1/2 cup of sour cream 4 tablespoons lemon juice Zest of 2 lemons ( about 2 tbsps.) 1 teaspoon of vanilla Instructions Pre-heat oven to 300 degrees 1. Sift flour, baking powder, and salt and set aside. In another bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Beat in eggs, one at a time. Mix in the sour cream, lemon juice, vanilla, and lemon zest. 2. Mix half of the flour mixture into the butter mixture. Mix in the buttermilk and then add in the remaining flour mixture. Mix just until the
flour disappears. Pour the cake batter into a bundt pan that has been generously sprayed with baking spray 3. Bake for 60 to 70 minutes or until a knife inserted in the center of the cake comes out clean. Remove the cake from the oven and allow to cool for 5 minutes. Turn the cake over on a cake platter. Spread half of the lemon glaze over the warm cake so that the glaze can soak into the cake. Let the cake cool completely and drizzle the remaining glaze over the cake. Lemon Glaze 1/4 cup butter, softened 1 1/2 cup powdered sugar 3 tablespoon lemon juice, at room temperature 1. Cream the butter and slowly add powdered sugar and lemon juice. Beat well until the glaze is a creamy smooth consistency.

News from the Bowling Alley submitted by Cayln Buresh, Village Lanes
It has been nothing but good times for our Village Lanes bowlers the past week! A group of 14 of us just got back from bowling at the 72nd Annual Interior Championships in Kelowna. The Interiors is one of the most prestigious and long running events in 5 pin bowling, and what a blast it is! We get up and head to the lanes at 5:30am on the Friday morning, and bowl until 6:00pm that night. As if that's not ridiculous enough, we get up the following day and do it all over again! We are a tired bunch this week, but proud as well! There are 16 cities that participate in this event, and our Chase ladies team placed 3rd over all! Congratulations to Shelley Munday, Ali Maki, Cathy Hosier, Rita Carlson, Sam Steil and Wanda Pickell on an excellent tournament! Our men didn't have the year that they expected, placing 7th overall, but were nothing but
positive the entire time. Thank you for being a great team to coach - Bill Pacholok, Matthew Griffin, Kelly Collins, Derek Vigue, Darcy Munday and Elmer Dodds! Our shining moment of the weekend, was the 2nd day of the mixed event, where our 3 men and 2 ladies chosen, bowled absolutely incredible. Ali Maki just missed making the Mixed All-Star team, as did Matthew Griffin. Thank you to team Chase for being such a positive group. It was a pleasure to coach such a wonderful team. In other exciting news - a couple of our YBC Bowlers are off to the Provincial Championships! Natalie MacDonald and Tristan Jules are heading to the Youth Doubles Provincials for the 2nd time in their YBC careers! Wishing the two of them nothing but good luck heading to Kelowna on April 7th! Go Chase Go!

The first indoor bowling lanes were built in New York City in 1840.

The largest bowling center is located in Japan. It has 116 lanes! Evidence suggests that bowling dates back as far as 3200 BC – around the same time that some of the first forms of the written word were discovered on cuneiform tablets.
