On behalf of the Board of Trustees Finance Committee, I am pleased to report that once again our independent auditor, BKD, LLP, has issued a “clean” opinion regarding Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy’s (CHCA’s) financial statements for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2015. In this Annual Report on philanthropy, you will find the consolidated financial statements as well as graphic representation of revenues and expenses, which illustrate the financial health of CHCA. The Board of Trustees strives, in its deliberations and actions, to support the values and traditions of CHCA and to foster the healthy growth and development of our programs over time. Our vision for the future defines critical elements for fulfilling key aspects of our strategic plan. Consistently enhancing the quality of our instruction and student/faculty learning in a changing world is an ongoing imperative. Your contributions allow us to realize these plans and to maintain our financial strength in support of our vision. We are funding initiatives for learning, faculty support, facilities, financial aid, academic enrichment, arts, athletics, and environmental programs. Message from the Board of Trustees President These are exciting times at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy. Having just marked the 25th Anniversary since CHCA first opened its doors, we celebrate the legacy of excellence and resounding faith established by our founders a quarter century ago. Indeed, the vision of those founding families remains as true today as it was then – that CHCA is and would always be the college preparatory institution in greater Cincinnati that melds rigorous academic curricula, a breadth of extra-curricular programming, along with a deep and abiding faith in our Lord. This solid foundation upon which CHCA was established has never wavered and is at the core of who we are today. Most importantly, we have continued to do what CHCA does the very best – produce curious, confident, service-minded graduates who are grounded in their faith and impacting the world with passion, and CHCA Board President Scott Collins, integrity. I congratulate our Head of School, faculty and staff, and the his wife Nadia and sons Gabe ‘11, Michael ‘14, and Paul ‘23 students they serve, for maintaining the highest of standards while sustaining an educational program and love for Christ that genuinely matters to all facets of our community. This Annual Report on CHCA’s philanthropy seeks to recognize those who have helped us along the way as we cast a vision for the next 25 years. We, the Board of Trustees, realize that nothing CHCA does would be possible without the generosity and spirit of our CHCA families, grandparents, alumni, and friends – supporters who give generously to our school through the Annual Fund, Capital giving, and in a myriad of other ways. This show of support lends the Board great momentum as we celebrate the 25-year milestone and head into the next phase in the life of CHCA. The Board of Trustees, working with our Head of School Randy Brunk, has spent much of the last year focused on the vision for CHCA. When we take the long view, we see excellence and opportunities in programming, in our facilities, and in our divisional structure – all signs that bode well for the future. Together with the historical perspective of our trustees and the variety of expertise and experience on our Board, we provide a solid underpinning upon which to build an exciting future. To put it another way, as trustees we like to think that we fly at 30,000 feet – in order to see the school in its entirety. Even from a distance, what clearly comes into focus is that CHCA is thriving and the opportunities for new and enhanced programs abound. With that in mind, I encourage you to review plans to come outlined in the center of this Annual Report. In closing, and on behalf of the Board of Trustees, I simply wish to say thank you. It is your philanthropic support, your enthusiasm for our mission, your heart for the Lord’s work at CHCA, and your commitment to our students and to their education that makes all of this possible. Message from the Board of Trustees Development Chair Giving Brings Blessings Gift giving is a joy. Whether it’s something said, something done, or something given away, gifts bring joy to both the giver and to the receiver. And while it is fun to be on the receiving end of a gift, we believe that most people prefer to give rather than to receive. Often, it is engaging in the act of inspirational giving that yields blessings you never dreamed possible.

After just over 25 years, CHCA today is a one of the greatest examples of these blessings beyond comprehension. What started as a seed of an idea sewn and nurtured by seven families, has blossomed into a reality beyond all expectations – a Christ-centered environment that is home to highly esteemed teaching professionals who fully prepare students intellectually and spiritually for college and beyond. Early CHCA students and families were generous in their giving of time, prayer, and resources. While they endured growing pains, they remained faithful knowing that, with their gifts, God was leading the way. Since that time, over $100,000,000 has been invested, over 1,800 students have graduated, and each day students age 3 up to grade 12 are faithfully challenged and boldly determined to make a difference for Christ in the world. These are just a few of the remarkable stats for such a young school…but that is exactly how God works. The blessings have been tenfold. Today CHCA students enjoy the fruits of generous giving, opening doors for not only their academic pursuits, but deeply rooted faith development, academic and athletic team competitions, fine arts visual inspirations and performances, and so much more. God has unique plans for each student at CHCA. Thank you for opening the doors for their dreams. We hope that through your philanthropic support, you too have had firsthand experiences with blessings you never dreamed would be possible!

Jim and Cindy McVey, Founding Family and Grandparents “Twenty- five years ago, I was very honored to be one of CHCA’s founding school board members and to help form the vision of CHCA. Over twenty-five years later, my wife Cindy and I believe CHCA to be more relevant in today’s secular society. There is a need for every generation to be taught the principles that God has set forth in the Scriptures. We are very thankful that first our daughter and now our three granddaughters attend CHCA and are being taught Christian principles along with a strong academic curriculum.”

The Soaring Eagle Circle of Giving The Soaring Eagle Circle of Giving event was held on a stormy evening in June at the home of David and Blake Thompson. Though the rain fell throughout the entire evening, it did not dampen the fellowship shared by those who attended. Festivities were held under a large tent surrounded by memory photos of the past 25 years of CHCA. Delicious food and drink were catered by Elegant Fare. There was abundant joy and friendship amongst the 70+ in attendance as they mingled, talked, laughed, and shared memories, old and new. It was truly a witness to the “family” CHCA creates and continues to be for our families. There were a good number of founding families mixing with new families, staff, and friends of CHCA...all who believe in the mission of CHCA and God’s purpose for this school. These individuals were celebrated for their time, talents, and treasure over many years. CHCA Board President Greg Simpson opened the evening program with highlights of the year, a powerful prayer of thanksgiving for the past 25 years, and a blessing over the next 25. He knows firsthand what this school can do for students as he and his wife Karen have had two children complete their CHCA education and are already doing great things with the seeds planted in them by our wonderful faculty and staff. Following Greg, Head of School Randy Brunk shared exciting insights into CHCA’s future direction and plans. He focused particularly on student engagement. He introduced this topic by sharing what he learned as a volunteer with Junior Achievement many years ago. This story not only planted the seeds for him to be an educator, but also unveiled to him the gains from high level student engagement. One of his early assignments was to introduce his class to the concepts of Supply and Demand. Rather than giving a lecture, he introduced the topic utilizing a game format with donuts as the prize. Not only were the students highly engaged, they learned far deeper the concepts than what would have been possible with a passive lecture. He further illustrated the importance of student engagement, and the plans CHCA has for enhancing the learning environment and engaging students at the highest levels. It was a beautiful way to conclude the 25th anniversary year.

Alumni Meet the Challenge and Leave a Lasting Legacy Our CHCA alumni had another exciting year when it comes to giving, rounding out at 13% participation. While that level of participation on its own is encouraging, it’s the numbers that make up that 13% that really tell the story of how our alumni are increasing their engagement. Alumni classes challenged each other to see who could get the greatest Annual Fund participation - and well, our Eagles are only a little competitive and ended up with one class (2000) that had gifts from more than 25% and others (2003 and 1995) right around 20%. Not only that, but take a look at these results: • 40 alumni gave their first gift • Every class from 1995-2014 had a gift • 49% of gifts came from local alumni and 51% came from around the country, California to Maine • 10 classes gave at a rate of 10% or higher As our alumni engagement continues to grow, we’re seeing an increase in giving, but more so, we’re seeing an increase in alumni on campus and within our community. They’re back in classrooms, speaking in chapel, serving alongside students, performing with the arts, and even bringing their future Eagles back to join in on the fun. Their legacy reaches far beyond the dollars they give, and they prove to be exactly the people we have prayed for and prepared them to be.

“High Tide ~ Celebration 2015” was an engaging community event with 500 guests and volunteers gathered at Savannah Center in a sea of blue. Raffles, silent and live auctions, a wine wall, and seated dinner resulted in a wonderful evening of fellowship as well as outstanding philanthropic results. Through the generosity of sponsors, donors, volunteers, and attendees $214,000 was raised to support the mission of CHCA. In addition to our High Tide event, we hosted our annual Daddy/Daughter Dance, Mom/Son Dance and ladies’ Peek-a-Boutique as fellowship events for the school community. In an effort to continue building fellowship among our community and philanthropic success, we offered the following sign-up parties for the first time. They were featured at our annual auction and we had great participation!

Twenty women enjoyed a host of delicious hors d’oeuvres and desserts while playing Bunco and meeting other CHCA moms.

• Wine-derful Event Wine Tasting

Uncorked at the Spicy Olive was the venue where 40 people gathered to be educated, entertained, and enjoyed tasting wines while engaging in fellowship with other CHCA parents.

The Founders’ Campus soccer field was filled with 50 people (families of all ages) who pitched tents and enjoyed a cook out, games, and much more.
