a 110,000 sf mixed-use, adaptive reuse campus brings like-minded businesses + communities together to celebrate the outdoors through re-envisioning five historic warehouses in downtown salt lake city. the campus shell was designed with all future tenants in mind to craft a unique 24/7 experience for all visitors.
THE ORIGINAL BUILDING AREA WAS 68,000 SF. THE DESIGN TEAM NEARLY DOUBLED THE EXISTING FOOTPRINT TO ACCOMPLISH THE AMBITIOUS PROGRAMMING REQUIRED. MAINTAINING THE HISTORIC CHARACTER WAS A PARAMOUNT EFFORT AND ALL HISTORIC TIMBER REMAINED EXPOSED. NEW STRUCTURE ADDED WAS LEFT RAW AND UNFINISHED.
the existing footprint while maintaining historic character throughout with a iiiB construction type. all existing timber structure is to remain exposed and new steel is left raw and unfinished
project role leading the schematic and feasibility phases; directly coordinating with the city officials and the principal through initial design concepts, allowable building area increases, and mixed use programming. took the campus shell project through documentation, permitting, and into administration alongside the project architect. initial design lead for schematic and programming phases of 700s next door- a new mass timber, cowork/ office space.
transitioned to project manager and main point of contact for all tenant spaces from design through delivery. estimated completion end of 2021.

A 6,500 square foot smokehouse featuring wild game and signature wood varities was a planned partnership between upper kirby district, levy park, and chef tim love. the restaurant program led to a dog trot arrangement fit for an urban, public space. the exposed timbers intentionally highlight the presence of wood smokers, which are a feature on the exterior of the building facing the park. the elevated glass breezeway brings in ample natural light and connectes the two solid volumes- the smokehouse and the lounge. the main dining spills out towards the greens of the park to encourage as many connections to the park programs as possible.
