Pre-baby, I thought I wouldn’t care what my pushchair looked like – as long as it did the job, right? Oh, reader, how wrong I was. As my due date drew nearer and I delved deeper into a world of footmuffs and seat-recline angles along came the Cybex Mios with its rose-gold chassis, coordinating trim, stitching and buckles. And I was sold.

THE LOWDOWN

Already a fave with urban-dwelling parents, the Mios was on our radar before its rosegold revamp. This popular stroller is known for being lightweight and functional: ideal for city life. It can be used as a four-in-one travel system – making it suitable from birth – and, of course, it oozes style. The biggest plus for us was that it was light enough to carry up and down the steps to our flat, and weighing in at 8.7kg, we’re still doing OK seven months on.

GOOD-LOOKING?

Having collaborated with the likes of Jeremy Scott, and citing Charles and Ray Eames as an influence, it’s no surprise that this most recent launch is just as beautiful. You can customise your Mios with a variety of attachments and colour packs – we paired the rose-gold chassis with the inky Midnight Blue seat pack. To keep things as sleek as possible, we picked the LITE cot, which can be used as a cosy newborn cot, and then as an effective windstopper until your little one is around four years old. I also love the luxe leather handlebar and rose-gold buckle – they complete the look.

What style-savvy parent could resist the Cybex Mios’ super-chic rose-gold chassis?

PRACTICALITY & DRIVABILITY

So it looked great – but could it cope with our daily adventures? Answer: yes. The four-wheel suspension makes for a quiet ride, and it handles well over bumpy pavements, kerbs and grass. With a narrow wheelbase at the back, I was worried that it’d feel flimsy, but it really doesn’t.

Though I had to YouTube it initially, folding the pushchair is simple once you know how, and it folds in one piece, which makes getting it in and out of the car boot a doddle.

If I’m being picky – and I am – the basket’s a little small, but still handy for all the essentials.

COMFORT

Now seven months, Max wants to see as much of the world as possible, and the Mios allows him to sit up straight, while offering a really comfortable ride. The seat is spacious and deep, and the ergonomic adjustable calf rest is designed to work with the natural curve of your baby’s legs, so he’s never slouching. I was also impressed with the four recline options, and the extra-extendable hood not only offers a UPF50+ sun shield, it’s great for protecting him from the wind and light glare, especially during naps. Finally, the padded harness is easy to clip together, even when he’s wriggling.

THE VERDICT

The Cybex Mios is designed to fit in seamlessly with modern life, and it certainly delivers. Beautifully designed and super-functional – our strolls are smooth and relaxing. I love it, but more importantly, so does Max!
