Distributed ledger technology are databases that can share and synchronise with other databases.

All blockchains are DLTs, but not all DLTs are blockchains.

Cryptocurrency is the most known form of blockchain but the DLT technology is today used in many ways. Smart contracts [see Appendix page 59], non-fungible tokens [NFT], and decentralised autonomous organisations [DAO] are other examples.

For the study of the abandoned buildings in Athens, we developed a strategy using blockchain and the existing platform FOAM.
