Kingfishers Update Nativity News From carol dingers to drummer boys, the children all put on their best performance on Wednesday afternoon for their audience. Mary and Joseph were safely delivered to Bethlehem by the donkey, the angels proclaimed their good news, the shepherds brought their sheep and the Kings brought the gifts. Well done everyone!

A great grumpy sheep! Year 1 and 2 performed their Christmas production of The Grumpy Sheep this week. All the children did us proud and their hard work and dedication shone through. Well done to all the Year 1 and 2 stars!

Super Saturday The children left Super Saturday feeling very relaxed after a Wellbeing session with Miss Norwood. The session was themed around Goldilocks and the Three Bears. The breathing techniques they used helped to cool down the bowls of porridge and the yoga story included poses based around things that happened in the story. The children had the opportunity to use Story Massage to retell the story whilst helping their partner to relax and the session ended with a guided meditation.

Lower School News Christingle Year 3 and 4 pupils had a great time making their Christingles ready for Friday’s service. We welcomed Mr Patterson our Head of Religious Studies to tell us more about the symbolism. It was great fun choosing the sweets we would use. We also reminded ourselves that it is important to remember those less fortunate than ourselves and that we would be raising money for The Children’s Society by holding our Christingle service.

Boarding House Update

Festive Fun

We have enjoyed a festive start to the month of December in the Boarding House. We have decorated the tree, been to see Aladdin at the Pantomime, started our Boarders’ Advent Calendar and spent Sunday afternoon Ice Skating. Thank you to Mrs Parsley and family for running the trip and joining in with such enthusiasm. Roll on the Boarders’ Christmas Feast, Santa Fun Run and cinema trip next weekend!

Sport Update

Boys’ Rugby Results U13A vs The Downs School Won 30-5

Rugby Team of the Week - The 1st XIII The 1st XIII finished their season with a great performance against The Downs Wraxall with a 30-5 win. The boys have been magnificent this season winning 10 of their 13 matches. Two years ago these boys finished their U11A season without winning a single game, two years on and they have been one of the top teams on our circuit and are more than ready for the step up to senior school rugby. We are very proud of their resilience and development over their years here and are glad they finished the season so strongly.

Sporting Success Year 8 pupil Evie has been making superb progress with her karting competitions. Evie competes regularly at Castle Combe and other venues alongside other 10 to 15 year olds and is usually the only girl in the event. She raced recently and made massive progress through the heats to make the final. She drove superbly in this, against five others and took 2nd place on the podium. This sport takes huge commitment with races scheduled every other week for ten weeks. Evie is hoping to do well in the overall Championship as the top six drivers all gain recognition with prizes. Soon Evie is aiming to move onto racing in her own kart which will travel at double the speed (around 80mph). This will mean more races and travelling all over Britain, but she is excited and very ambitious about the prospect of moving up. Evie loves this sport and really enjoys competing against different people on different tracks. Evie hopes to follow in the footsteps of OC Jamie Chadwick (Chandos) who started her career in the same races at Castle Combe and is now racing in the British Formula 3 Championship. Good luck to Evie in the rest of the championship and in trialling her own kart in the holidays!

We would love to hear from you Whether your child has had success in a competition, been selected for a representative side or achieved something else fantastic on or off the sports field, we would love to hear from you so that we can celebrate them in future editions. If you have anything you would like to share, please send it to your child’s form tutor with a photo and a brief description.
