Rhythm of the Dance 2022 Tuesday 19 July 2022, 7.30pm, Cheltenham Town Hall This dance and music extravaganza contains a wealth of Irish talent, an exciting two-hour trip through hundreds of years of Irish dance and music, 22 award-winning World & Irish dance champions with 25 dazzling costume changes. Experience flailing fiddles, flutes, and inspiring dances along with live vocalists, all complemented by a top live Irish traditional band of multi-instrumentalist musicians. The Psychology of Serial Killers Thursday 21 July 2022, 7.30pm, Cheltenham Town Hall During this talk, you will discover how serial killers are classified, such as what are the differences between lust killers and visionary killers, and the differences between male and female killers. The event explores the different categories and psychologies behind them. The show will also debunk common serial killer myths – you may be surprised by what you learn. Tickets: £22 standard

Individual band members draw on their diverse musical backgrounds having been involved with Jocelyn Brown, Soul II Soul, Sister Sledge, Clean Bandit, Hacienda Classical and Lewis Capaldi. Leo Houlding: Closer to the Edge Tuesday 25 October 2022, 7.30pm, Cheltenham Town Hall, Pillar Room With a brief overview of his life, Leo Holding’s new show follows on from his previous tour bringing audiences up to date with his audacious expeditions. Primarily focusing on his more recent ascent of Mount Roraima, the high, rain forest-engulfed South American plateau which inspired Arthur Conan Doyle’s The Lost World.

The conductor of the evening will be Roberto Gonzalez-Monjas and the pianist will be Paul Lewis. Friday 2 December 2022, 7.30pm Malta Philharmonic Orchestra A first visit to Cheltenham by the Malta Philharmonic features three outstanding works from Eastern Europe’s stunning 20th century output. Opening with Shor’s Seascapes for Violin and Orchestra, followed by Prokofiev’s violin concerto no.1 in D and finally, Rachmaninov’s symphony no.2 in E minor. The conductor for this show will be Sergey Smbatyan and the violinist will be Maxim Vengerov. Sunday 7 January 2023, 7.30pm Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra – New Year Viennese Strauss Gala. Now established as an annual favourite in the town hall calendar, the New Year Strauss Gala returns once more, recreating the atmosphere in Vienna’s famous Musikverein and celebrating the arrival of 2023 with a sparkling collection of waltzes, marches and arias by the Waltz King and his contemporaries. Tuesday 21 February 2023, 7.30pm Armenian State Symphony Orchestra What a superb programme the Armenians are bringing on their first ever town hall visit. Containing Khachaturian’s Spartacus Suite No.2, followed by Mendelsohn’s Violin Concerto in E minor and Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 in F minor. The conductor for this show will be Sergey Smbatyan and the violinist will be Chloe Hanslip. Wednesday 15 March 2023, 7.30pm Swedish Philharmonia March sees the return visit of the Swedish Philharmonia after its 2020 Cheltenham debut. The centrepiece is Khachaturian’s only violin concerto in D minor, then A Merry Overture by Sweden’s own Bo Linde, followed by Sibelius’ superb Symphony No.2 in D. The conductor for this show will be Jaimie Martin and the violinist will be Nemanja Radulovic. Sunday 16 April 2023, 2.30pm English Symphony Orchestra The English Symphony Orchestra, with pianist Noriko Ogawa who will be making her first town hall appearance will be bringing the sounds of Brahms, Grieg and Sibelius to Cheltenham. Brahms’ Tragic Overture, Grieg’s Piano Concerto in A minor and Sibelius’ Symphony No.5 in E flat will all feature. Friday 26 May 2023, 7.30pm National Symphony Orchestra The exquisite blend of Mozart and Mahler, two contrasting bookends of the Austrian tradition, brings this season to a stirring close. The National Symphony Orchestra will be playing Mozart’s Overture, Cosi fan Tutte and Violin Concerto No.3 in G as well as Mahler’s Blumine and Symphony No. 4 in G.
