JOE LONGTHORNE This talented artist began his career over three decades ago with appearances on Junior Showtime, followed by a grounding on the tough Northern club circuit. His big break came in 1981 when he was a finalist on London Weekend Television's Search for a Star - this lead to appearances at the London Palladium with Bob Hope and The Talk of the Town.
A short time later, Joe received the Variety Club of Britain award as Most Promising Artiste of the Year. Television specials in the UK and USA followed. Joe's repertoire of voices is endless and includes hundreds of the world's top singers, however, he is perhaps best known for his impersonation of Shirley Bassey who has commented, "Joe can do me better than I can do myself". During his career, Joe has received gold and platinum discs for his albums, enjoyed sell-out concerts at the Royal Albert Hall, as well as touring Australia several times. Now, Joe is looking forward to new challenges, new songs to sing and new audiences to thrill.

Ralph Fiennes takes the role of Jack Tanner in this exhilarating reinvention of Shaw’s witty, provocative classic. Jack Tanner, celebrated radical thinker and rich bachelor, seems an unlikely choice as guardian to the alluring heiress, Ann. But she takes it in her assured stride and, despite the love of a poet, she decides to marry and tame this dazzling revolutionary. Tanner, appalled by the whiff of domesticity, is tipped off by his chauffeur and flees to Spain, where he is captured by bandits and meets The Devil. An extraordinary dream-debate, heaven versus hell, ensues. Following in hot pursuit, Ann is there when Tanner awakes, as fierce in her certainty as he is in his. This is an Encore performance.

TOM BAXTER After gathering broad critical and public acclaim for his first two albums – “Feather & Stone” and “Skybound” – Tom took time out to rediscover his passion for the guitar and love of song-writing. It was a journey that took him from the wilds of Devon, through the foothills of India, the mountains of Southern Spain, and ended in California. The end result was “The Uncarved Block – Part One” which showcases his masterful guitar-playing and the raw, confessionary depth of his lyrics and voice. The man who co‐wrote the song ‘Better’, the modern day classic that has become entwined into the fabric of so many people’s lives, has garnered broad appeal over the years, not only as a dextrous musician but also for a knack to wear his heart on his sleeve & connect in ‘song’ with his audience. Whilst Tom’s music has been placed in numerous Hollywood films, his achingly beautiful voice has also been the backdrop to some of the nation’s most exciting moments over the last few years, from the Beijing Olympics to the coverage of the 2012 Royal Wedding. Since the release of his first two albums, his songs have also been covered by the likes of Dame Shirley Bassey to Boyzone, as well as having respected names such as Tom Waits, Rufus Wainwright & Gary Barlow (to name a few), tipping their hats to him. Witness him live, and you’re part of that rare experience of an audience totally captivated by what they’re watching. If a pin drops, you’ll hear it. ‘Baxter’s commitment to song writing could inspire the lovelorn and unjade the jaded’……it’s our good fortune that Baxter abides by his own rules and that’s what helps to make his records a genuine event…‘ Paul Sexton – The Sunday Times

Mr Turner is a 2014 biographical drama based on the life and career of the 18th century British artist J.M.W Turner, played by Timothy Spall. Profoundly affected by the death of his esteemed father, loved by his housekeeper, Hannah Danby, whom he takes for granted and occasionally exploits sexually, he forms a close and loving relationship with a seaside landlady. Throughout all this, Turner travels, paints, stays with the country aristocracy, visits a brothel, is a popular if anarchic member of the Royal Academy of Arts, has himself strapped to the mast of a ship so that he can paint a snowstorm, and is both celebrated and reviled by the public and by royalty.

MONDAY 15TH JUNE AT 7.30PM germaine greer presents
THE DISAPPEARING WOMAN Forty years ago it seemed that women were about to take their rightful place in the world, in parliament, in the church, in the judiciary, in the workplace but when you open my newspaper you find that news is still made by men in suits. The female most likely to be seen in the sports pages will be a horse. Women are disappearing too because flesh is not allowed. As soon as girls accept the size, role and shape of adult women, they begin to disappear. With each stage of their lives, as they become successively wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, they become less visible. Virtually obliterated are the three-quarters of care home residents who are women. Germaine Greer attempts to explain this state of affairs and to suggest some strategies for change. £15.00 Concessions £13.00
