OUR PAST Blockbuster Inc. is the largest video rental chain in the world that providing in-home rental, retail movie, and game entertainment.

THE OLD LOGO Blockbuster founded on October 19, 1985 as Blockbuster Video. In 1996, Blockbuster Video announced its rebranding as simply Blockbuster; the word “Entertainment” (and formerly “Video” until 1994) was dropped from the logo as a result in 1996, although older stores still used the previous logo.

What will be changed? Blockbuster used four different logos at different times, but there was a little change in terms of appearance or color. The overall Logo didn’t express the entertainment aspect well. Therefore, we will make various changes in appearance, color and add a symbol based on our brand soul.

NEW CONCEPT In order to create a meaningful logo, the new concept of blockbuster logo is based on the soul of our brand, which is

Entertaining people anytime, anywhere. By exploring the essence of our soul, we came up with three keywords, they are entertaining, joyful and unrestricted.

This direction used a symbol to present different types of entertainment. Such as the player, Tv, microphone, spark, 3D glasses, and music keyboard.

Spark is okay.

This direction used the entertainment icon to fill in the letters. Such as the letter “O” can be replaced in a CD or the game machine can instead of the letter “O” and “C”.

For this direction, the idea came from music. You can see the music player to build the letter b.

The idea from this direction is to express the freedom feeling. So, I bring lots of nature thing in this direction.

This direction used a lot of interesting ways to combine the keywords “joyful” such as outline the letter as bubbles, color some letter in a cute way and make the letter in different directions. Wordmarks

The brand name is blockbuster, not block buster, so don’t use “BB” instead of the brand name.

According to the short phrase, no time and place limit is the inspiration for this direction. So, clock describes the time and earth represent a place.

Use arrows to point out to different directions are more interesting.

The idea behind this direction below is to use an infinity graphic mark to describe the word “Unrestricted”.

It is not proper use a letter “B” to form the logo because the brand should use its whole name “Blockbuster” instead of “B”.

DIGITAL REFINEMENTS Continue to modify the logo on the computer. There are now two versions that can be further modified and extended.

FINAL LOGO At the end of the logo, we combined symbolic marks and wordmarks together and the selection of the color chose a very bright version to connect with our mission statement and three keywords.
