Area statement
The proximity requirements, activity flow and service corridor became the driving agents of the design. Coupling this with the need for natural light, ventilation and green spaces we form this intersecting sets of spaces whose interplay creates the spatial dynamic.
13
Wind analysis
Climate analysis
It was essential to understand the climatic factors of the region to provide optimal climatic comfort inside the building without extensive use of energy.
14
The form evolved so as to minimize high speed winds and create slow continual air movement, the building also goes an extra step to shade, and defend the healing gardens from extra strong winds.

Mixed Use Development

Studio 6 | year 3
The brief was to design a mixed use development in Hebbal industrial extension,Mysore. site : 12 acres
Situated in the outskirts of the city of Mysore, A rapidly growing region of residences and industries; but heavily neglected public and green space. The project looks to redefine what a mixed use develpment could mean to a community “celebrating life “in synergy as opposed to a string of preset functions. 21

SITE PLAN
In the first few visits to the site it became apparent that the area was grossly unplanned. This area of the city’s expanse grew so rapidly that its just miles of highways, isolated buildings and no vegetation. This is a stark contrast to inner Mysore vibrant with life and filled with trees. During our survey most of the resident’s main complaint was that they had to drive all the way to the city for even basic groceries, there were no parks or any sort of open activities available. The survey and studying the context served as the basis for formulation of spaces required, we had to create climatically adept and shaded open spaces which help encourage people to use them. 26
Questioning the preconceived notions of how mixed use development should be as seen in most places as imitations of a generic cube. Through the project I sought to re-imagine the idea of it in India’s context taking into account how streets are their main public spaces and how to best bring public spaces to the outskirts The site also has an abandoned lake which is going to be renewed in the coming years

Questioning the root assumptions about prison design and researching on prisoner psychology and global statistic data, we were able to re-imagine new hybrid ways to design penitentiary spaces which evolve with the inmates to create spaces “safe” for both prisoners and everyone else

Streets in India 3has one amongst the tastiest my experience . The Simple and foods exotic in flavours make Indian panipuris , samosas and vada pavs streetfood different and very popular. The are to die for. But these vendors panipuiries, samosas vadapaavs are to die do not these havevendors enoughdotonot space provide for. But have to enough comfort dining and people do space to provide comfort dining, and peo-prefer not notprefer to stand in the scorching sun . ple do to stand in the scorching Kiosks that can be rented out to these sun. Kiosks that can be rented out to thse vendors seating and table vendors withwith seating/ tables and atops roofand a roof over it can solve this issue and over it can prove to be very helpful. prove to be very helpful for the panipuri wala and streetfood lovers like me !
1 . Hinges to fold up seating fecilities as per need to accomodate more people 2 . Hinges provided to move shade along sun path 3. Dustbins to keep the city clean 4 . Solar panels on the Roof for energy 5. Planter boxes for a greener urban
