FROM THE

EDITOR T

his edition we decided to mark as a Valentine Special, and have added a couple of articles and questions relating to such a fabulous holiday! We also welcome our 3 new resident columnists Debbie Savage, Rebecca Schuster and Tiffany Giannato. Each month these fabulous women will be creating content on fashion, beauty and the law of attraction. I had the pleasure of sitting down to talk to our cover star TJ Thyne. An incredible guy, with drive, passion and talent. He talks about his love for acting, multi award-winning short films, and he goes in depth about how the new generation of content creators are changing the direction of the entertainment industry. We are also creating a new article series on social platforms. This month the chosen topic is the video clip application TikTok. We only graze the top this month, giving a brief and beginners how-to guide, but make sure to check out next month’s publication as we will be going into more detail. Our 3rd publication and we are slowly finding our feet and trying to carve a path for ourselves. It’s a long road, but a beautiful one, and I am humbled to see the response that our new creation is getting. HAPPY VALENTINE’S!

THYNE

Talks about his passion for acting, multi award-winning short films, and how the new generation of content creators are changing the direction of the entertainment industry. Of course, we also slid a cheeky Valentine’s question in, because, well... it is the February issue after all.

Y

ou may have seen him in, or guest-starring on one of your favorite television shows, or caught a glimpse during a commercial, but for many of us, he is the intelligent and sexy scientist with quick wit and an incredible sense of humor Dr. Jack Hodgins in the television series Bones. If you haven’t watched it, we definitely suggest you do, you can thank us later!

Although Bones has now come to an end, TJ is constantly working on new projects, heavily involved in awardwinning short films, and a successful entrepreneur. We just couldn’t wait to find out what is on the horizon for this incredible guy. So our Editor-in-Chief managed to sit down and ask a couple of questions over gelato, and boy aren’t we glad she did; and so will you be. We heard he is giving away hugs for Valentine’s, which has us all in a flutter.

ON THE COVER Thank you so much for taking the time to meet and chat with me; this place is pretty awesome, and you look amazing! First things first, THANK YOU so much for taking the time to come sit down and chat with me, this is easily one of my favorite things to do, sit outside on a beautiful Southern California day, and chat the day away with someone creative, down to earth and cool, while eating gelato! Oops, was I not supposed to admit that we are eating yumminess? Haha. Of course, you are most welcome “hmmm is that the British in me coming out”. When I’m not travelling to meet fabulous people like you, I’m back in Italy, so Gelato is a favorite of mine. Ok, so I have a few questions I’d love to ask, and thought we would dive right in! You grace our screens with your presence, and I can’t wait to see what your next project will be; but what many may not know is that you also produce and write some of your own content such as the multi award-winning short ‘Validation’, which I absolutely loved. Did you ever imagine it would get such a positive response? You figure out pretty quickly as an actor in the world of Hollywood, that if you want to get out there and be seen, you best write & produce as well. Just holding up a flag and saying “I’m an actor, I’m here” isn’t enough... well...it’s enough if you are beautiful and have lots of connections. There is an old saying, if you want to make it in Hollywood you have to have at least 2 of the following 3 things at once: Looks, Talent, Connections. Sadly, I don’t have the looks or connections and even the talent part is questionable hahaha, but hey, I love it, so I’m here to give it a go!

I’m unsure about the connections, but I have to disagree with you regarding looks and talent, you definitely have both! I can however imagine it must be difficult here in Hollywood within the entertainment industry, so what options do you have then? If no one knows who you are, and you are passionate about telling stories? Well...you figure out how to tell them anyway, and then, eventually, people start to learn who you are. Our short

film “Validation” came about when a few of us graduated from USC together and had little direction on how to do this, how to get into making movies, and telling the stories we love. In our group, the amazing Kurt Kuenne wrote, directed and edited “Validation” which I was honored to be an actor in and produce along with Kurt and my other fellow Theatre Junkies family. (Theatre Junkies Productions is a company I founded right out of college. We started off producing Theatre around 18 UPLOADER MAGAZINE

Los Angeles, then moved into teaching classes, and running an acting, performance school, which then morphed into making short films.). One day, Kurt said “TJ, you are the most positive, person I know, and the world needs to smile, so I’m writing a short film about you”. Ha, I love Kurt! While Kurt was out to lunch with brilliant actor and fellow Theatre Junkie Dave Kuhr, they went to get their parking ticket validated. Kurt thought “how funny if the guy actually validated ME instead of just the ticket” and the idea was born. What I love about “Validation” is it’s a simple, really humble little film that was put together by a group of friends and actors, who all wanted to tell a little story, that would make people...smile. And now, with 10 million views online, and dozens of little awards later, the sweet little story is still making people smile, like you! And you have the most wonderful smile! (Ok, was that me saying it, or Hugh Newman :) I will take it... please excuse my blushing, come on, gotta concentrate ;) Ok... The term ‘Content Creator’ gets thrown around a lot especially since we are living in the digital age, and whilst many just associate it with YouTube, it’s actually more than just that. What does the term ‘Content Creator’ mean to you? Well, I have to say, I am blown away that you have started this much needed publication and magazine!! There are so many genius Content Creators out there that don’t get the recognition they truly deserve. To have a magazine that celebrates individuals for their bravery in putting together content of their own creation for the world to see, is amazing! So standing ovation to YOU for creating Uploader! I am stoked to be a part of this magazine, and beyond honored to share the pages with all the genius creators you are going to fill your pages with for issues and issues to come! Now, back to your question! I mean...even in the example above of “Validation”, here is a short film (we did a whole series Rent-a-Person, Validation, Slow and Phone book) we made back in the day, on FILM, where we had to process it, and slice and dice it to make it into something watchable. Once we had the film completed, we had absolutely no place to show it but our own living rooms (on projectors at first by the way). So, we entered it into film festivals which really was (and still is) the bridge to getting your work from your living room, into the theatre for all to see. But again, even after the festivals, our little movie was put on a shelf to collect dust, until YouTube came along! I am SO very excited for this generation, and every generation to come, (continued on page 20)

ON THE COVER that now, all you need is a cellphone and an idea, and you can be a self-made movie making studio! I mean, the examples are everywhere with the success of content creators on yes YouTube, and all the other social media platforms! I spent my New Year’s 2020 break, laughing hysterically with my nieces and nephew as they were teaching me dance moves for TikTok. It was so fun! And how great right? That young up-and-coming artist of every kind have venues to express themselves and have instant audiences! It’s just amazing. (Not to mention, how cool that the younger generation coming up, isn’t hiding away in their rooms as much, but spending time together, MAKING THINGS! Dancing! Laughing, having fun and collaborating! I love it. I’m a huge fan of where the industry is right now with content creators getting a shot without having to do the old school “wait in line” and hope you get seen. By the way, I was terrible at TikTok! Hahaha. Maybe this summer, I’ll catch back up with my little nieces & nephews Charlotte, Marlene, Ruth, Ben, Abbey, Harriet, Olive, as well as Lyle, Bailey, Gabe, Elliot, Darby and they can help me learn all they know about the new world of entertainment! Yes, I’ve been acting professionally for decades, but my nieces & nephews are WAY more equipped and intelligent about creating content for social media then I am, and all of them are under 20 years old. The next generation is kicking butt, and I’m a fan. I’m gonna be their student. So I can learn, and catch up, to the true Uploader’s in your magazine!

Haha, Egads. Who knows where it will go. It’s currently Pilot Season, the time of year when actors run around Los Angeles and take a shot at getting cast in an upcoming new TV show. Content is changing quickly, not just on social media but on the big & little screens as well, like with streaming services, that we love so much! Projects film year round now, but while the traditional pilot season still exists, I’ll run around and hopefully get a shot landing a new home on a show the next many months (fingers crossed). Then, I’ll start dreaming up ideas for my sand box time on YouTube... For sure I’ll let ya know, I’m gonna need someone to keep nudging me to do it hahaha. But isn’t it an exciting time? I mean really! Individuals coming up with ways to film talents they have, letting their craft be seen, then finding ways to monetize that through Etsy or Facebook or YouTube etc., and get to the point where their day-in-andday-out way of making money, is doing what they truly love. So so cool.

It isn’t easy, it never was, but we all love it, so it’s worth the struggle.

Just don’t give up, never give up.

PS, I’m so nervous, and totally scared to start making content for social media. Help me someone! Haha. Come on TJ, you got this, deep breath, fun ideas, willingness to fail, and jump in. Hopefully I can be allowed to come play in the sand box of social media content creators and produce starting sometime this year. Do you think that young content creators are changing the direction of the entertainment industry? Completely, totally, without a doubt, definitely. And I’m excited to see where they take it and am waving my hand on the side lines yelling “put me in coach!” I wanna play! It sounds like you are toying with the idea of starting a YouTube channel, if you do decide too, what direc20 UPLOADER MAGAZINE

tion would you like to take it (and can I take part)?

I recently travelled to Bari Italy to catch your latest short film you starred in; do you ever get to travel to see your own work? I think it is the coolest thing ever, that you drove hours, just to watch a project of one of your magazine features! I mean, come on! If that isn’t dedication! Thank you for doing that. That’s amazing.

“Extra Innings” is the short film. I was lucky enough to be a part of it with writer and director John Gray. John’s great! We had a really good time making the film. And we have been thrilled it has had the chance to travel the globe in so many festivals. I was hoping to be at that festival actually! It was just about timing, since I’ll be hanging tight in Los Angeles right now for pilot season. Otherwise, Italy! I would have been there in a heartbeat.I miss it. How lucky you get to live there! My Mom, the best Ma on the globe, is Italian and grew up here in Boston with my awesome Salvucci side of the family. My mom’s homemade pasta is my favorite thing on the planet. Yum! And right up there with favorite things, is traveling. (continued on page 23)

ON THE COVER So yes, I really love getting a chance to get to film festivals when I can, and I also love when I am invited to global Comicons. One of my dear friends, and fellow Theatre Junkies member Brennan W. Penney, has been in the Comicon world for most of his life. He has an agency that books talent for Comicons called “Pros and Cons“ (prosandconsla.com) He reps lots of amazing actors and artist and has most of the cast from “Bones.” So now and again, we get to travel together as a cast overseas to a Comicon. It’s always an amazing time! There is just something wonderful about getting to meet people in person who have supported your crazy dream to make things, to support your own dream to be a part of creating entertainment. I love it. More travel for film festivals and Comicons please. Ha. And now I am hungry thinking of my Mom’s homemade gnocchi. I’m calling her after this. Next question before I eat your microphone. Home-made gnocchi, that does sound delicious... Ok I will make the last couple quick. You are a really busy guy, not only are you an Actor, Writer, Producer and Content Creator, but you are also an Entrepreneur; what is next for you? I have always been an entrepreneur and have always had interest in different industries. I started focusing on several of my other interests, but when I got to owning seven companies in seven different industries, I realized I needed to slow down on other endeavors and get back to what I truly love: acting. Don’t get me wrong, I never left it, I never would, but it wasn’t like anyone was handing me roles (ah wouldn’t that be nice haha) No, I have to hustle as an actor like everyone else. So by clearing my schedule from my other endeavors, (and going from seven companies down to maybe say two or three) I can once again pour myself more into the day-in and day-out grind of being an actor in Hollywood. It isn’t easy, it never was, but we all love it, so it’s worth the struggle. Just don’t give up, never give up. I have been running around doing some guest staring on other current shows, as well as some fun commercials, did my first role in a video game, that was lots of fun, and a small role here and there on some upcoming streaming shows. I’m having a blast, I’m ready to find my next acting home. And if not, TikTok here I come! Haha just kidding, they would block my account. How am I so bad? Hahaha Ok we are almost there... we passed you our latest print edition, what do you think to the new magazine for Content Creators? (You can be honest, you won’t hurt my feelings, I promise;)

Photography: Bjoern Kommerell

As I stated above, I am giddy about being included in such an excellent platform of celebrating talent and those willing to take the leap of faith and create! Love it!! (continued on page 24) UPLOADER MAGAZINE 23

ON THE COVER

TJ Thyne on Valentine’s This is the last question I promise! So, I thought I’d end with something relevant to February’s publication, I’m just wondering what you think to St. Valentine’s day? Valentine’s Day! I love Valentine’s Day. I love love. I do! And I love any excuse to eat chocolate and sweets, as you can see with this gelato. How is yours by the way? Can I try it.... mmmm that IS good! Good choices! Yes, I know, I know, it’s a “Made-up holiday” But St. Valentine and his courtly love did exist, so heck, why not celebrate! (I love every holiday by the way. I’m like a big kid.) The best way to celebrate Valentine’s Day is exactly the way that feels right to you. Whether you have a significant other or not. My brother Tone and my sister in law Kendra, never wanted to spend their Valentine’s day going out to a crowded, overpriced restaurant, so they order a pizza every year, and cut it into the shape of a heart. Ha, how fun is that! I love the little sweetheart candies. I made a video on my Instagram last Valentine’s Day with those tiny heart candies...hey, I guess I am creating content all the time and just don’t realize it haha. SO, for Valentine’s Day this year, I am sending each of your readers a huge hug, yup, you can totally bring a copy of Uploader to me, show me this article, and cash in on it in person anytime, no expiration date. Happy Valentine’s Day! And thank you for letting me be your first Feb issues Valentine! (No expiration date on those hugs, I’m stocking up!) That’s it... I will let you go so you can call your mom, and grab a bite to eat, as I kinda need this microphone. Thank you again for meeting me, and I can’t wait to see you back on the big screens again soon. If you aren’t already following TJ over on Instagram, I’ve including the details below, and remember, there isn’t an expiration date for a TJ hug... I’m just saying! YOUR BEAUTY, YOUR WAY

T

wo years ago I took a redundancy from a job in radio that I loved, and a company I had been with for over two decades. My mother had passed away and she was the one who looked after my children while myself and my husband worked. We tried childcare for a period of time but came to the realization that having our kids home after school where they could do their homework and play with their friends with plenty of time to spare, was the way we wanted to go. We were lucky enough to be in a position to make such a decision, so I took a year out. My plan was to get back into radio, which I have done but the caveat to that job was having the flexibility to work from home. My new employer saw the benefit in happy worker, better worker, so agreed and slowly we have found our pace & routine managing a work/ life balance. I’ve worked full time since I was a teenager, and in some capacity since I was 11 (babysitting etc). I was raised as an only child by a single parent so the money was needed to help with bills etc. As a result, I’ve always been busy and working, so the sudden change in circumstances was a shock to the system. My redundancy also required me to take 6 months gardening leave. If you’re unfamiliar, it means the com-

pany you are leaving does not want you to work for any competitor for a period of time so pays you not to. Sounds nice eh? I’d had a very senior role so this package allowed me to take the time to look after the kids. However, as much as I adore my children, a housewife, I am not! I loved to cook but found it a chore when it didn’t involve coming home after a long day, turning on Spotify & having a glass of wine while I created some indulgent dish. Breakfast, lunch and dinner, was a mix of finding what to feed my kids without one of them screaming “I hate this, nana used to make it better” while stuffing a sandwich into my mouth as we ran (late again) for basketball practice etc. after school. So I knew I needed something for me outside of cleaning and cooking and picking dirty socks off the floor (no one has a clue, it seems, how to put them IN the basket!) I have always adored make up, and for a period of time many moons ago, I planned on heading to London to become a makeup artist after completing a course. However, I found a real love of radio when I got a job in advertising and stayed in Dublin to pursue that. Along with make-up, having the ability to transform and give confidence, I really believe the more you take care of your skin, the better you look and feel. I spent many years recommending (continued on page 33)

FEATURE products to work colleagues and friends, and doing their make up for nights out (Most Thursdays and Friday evenings when work drinks were on), I’d be presented with a bare face at my desk with someone saying “make me pretty”! I’m a 44 year old mom of two, and while the industry has taken baby steps here and there, cue.. (Chanel using Diane Kruger – 41 – for Le Lift, new L’Oréal age perfect range), fundamentally women of my age are not catered for when it comes to the beauty industry. Take for example Dior’s new Capture Youth campaign targeted at over 35 year olds but the model they use is Cara Delavigne. Granted a very beautiful model but a very young model, who at the tender age of 25 has yet to have a fight with gravity or woken up from a slumber to find the pillow marks stay on her face well into the afternoon! I think we all work far too hard to spend our hard earned cash on products that we don’t know will actually work for us, when all the marketing is illustrating girls (because they are girls, rarely women) wearing the products. You could bathe in creams 24/7 and still not have the bouncy skin of Kendal Jenner. So I figured there was a gap in the market for someone like me. Not a professional dermatologist, just a working busy mom who wanted to look her best and age well.

“ Whether you are young, or more mature, male or female, you have the right to do what you wish, and look after your body as you see fit – it’s yours and yours alone after all!” Realistically, I should already have shares in the majority of beauty companies as I’m completely obsessed with everything the industry has to offer, but here I was ready to trial and review products on my face and give people my honest opinion about the efficacy!

While I’m not professionally trained as a cosmetologist, I’m very particular about researching and reading up on all the information I possibly can, so I make informed decisions regarding my own skin care. It’s important that people do their own research, but if I can help in anyway, and take some of the pain out of going to all that effort, then great. I also think it’s imperative that what I do is used for positivity. I’m personally bored to tears of women being misconstrued as somehow less intelligent or vain because they enjoy makeup and beauty. I will personally defend any woman who wishes to go barefaced and wash with soap and water, but equally so, I detest the dialogue around beauty being something trivial and unnecessary. As women we are expected to possess beauty yet rebuke any suggestion that we care about our looks. At times, women can’t win whether they opt in or out. If we wear make-up, we’re judged as shallow, if we don’t, we are deemed as someone who’s let themselves go. I’ve been told what I spend on my face could be put to better use…..says who? I have worked hard since I was a teenager and every euro has been hard earned by me. Why should I justify what I spend that on? I’ve yet to see someone turn to a man at a football match and suggest his pastime is frivolous and he’d be better using the money for the tickets to donate to charity. My husband spent the equivalent of a second hand car on a bike (a push bike!) and all he got were looks of admiration from his biking mates, not a negative narrative of “oh that’s a lot to spend on yourself”! That’s part of his self-care, this is part of mine. So for all those who love to take care of their skin, my blog was set up for them. “Your beauty, your way”. If that means wearing 4 inches of make-up and going to the shops like Joan Collins, I applaud you. If you wish to stick on moisturiser and head out the door, bravo to you too. To have a full life, frivolity and fun is just as much a part of it as anything else. Whether you are young or more mature, male or female, you have the right to do what you wish, and look after your body as you see fit – it’s yours and yours alone after all! So, I set up my blog & social media channels to create this space where people could join me on this journey, and create a real community. I’m not changing the world, but my little space helps me to get the dialogue of “women should” and just replace with “women do”. It’s not about “anti-ageing” it’s about feeling fabulous at any age! So, you do you, and I’m here to support you whatever that is! “Ageing well for all” UPLOADER MAGAZINE 33

I LOVE

Cleanser

By Maria McKenzie

As we age, the hyaluronic acid in our skin depletes. This causes skin to become dehydrated with the loss of water. Hyaluronic acid replaces that by drawing moisture into the skin and locking it in. One of my favorites to use is from Skinceuticals. This is an excellent brand with the molecules formulated for maximum efficacy.

Glycolic Acid

Eve Lom cleanser is one of the original balm cleansers. I advocate for double cleansing your skin every day of the week! First to remove makeup & dirt. Second to clean the skin. Without a clean base, your products can’t penetrate your skin properly.

Hyaluronic Acid

Glycolic acid is an excellent exfoliator, and this one from Alpha H packs a punch. I always recommend spending your money on the middle part of your routine. The serums and acids. These are the products that perform best and are most active, and as we age, we need to utilize them to help with fine lines, wrinkles and blemishes. This product called Liquid Gold can be used a couple of times a week by taking a cotton pad and wiping over a clean face. It helps with cell turnover, and the removal of dead skin to reveal a brighter complexion. 34 UPLOADER MAGAZINE

BEAUTY

I find many women struggle with eyeshadow, so these little pots from Hourglass take all the hassle out of getting a glamorous look. Just use your finger to swipe and pat over the lid for a subtle glow, or build up for full on glam!

Foundation I find as we age and consume far too much coffee, the discoloration of teeth can be ageing. Having tried whitening toothpaste, the LA Pacific range has become a fast favorite. It acts with the natural enzymes in your mouth, so it doesn’t irritate, and you’re left with a gleaming smile!

Spray

My first love has always been makeup and while I have a passion for skincare, creating different looks on my page is one of my favorite things to do. This foundation from Charlotte Tilbury is lovely, especially for the more mature skin. It has excellent coverage but doesn’t feel heavy or settle into fine lines and wrinkles. A little bit goes a long way, and you can buff into the skin with a foundation brush or a beauty blender.

With the changing weather and central heating at full blast, the skin can become tight and dry throughout the day. This beautiful facial spray from Ella and Jo can be used under or over makeup to give a boost of hydration. Leave at your desk or carry in your bag to keep yourself hydrated and fresh faced all day. It’s packed with hyaluronic acid for maximum hydration.

Annie Morcos

Meet Annie Morcos from Annies Art Studio, the incredibly talented women behind the most beautiful and mesmerizing pieces of art. Annie has amassed millions of views across her various media outlets and channels, by posting satisfying art process videos Edited by Cheryl De Marco anniesartstudio.com @anniesartstudio

Hi Annie, thank you so much for taking the time to chat with me. Your art is absolutely beautiful, and I have my eye on a couple of pieces.

that even though it was hard, the experience was still incredible, and I got to work with some amazing people on incredible projects.

Thank you, and thank you for the feature, this is really so amazing!

But then in 2014, I realized that it just wasn’t for me, so then I moved into art, and making time-lapse videos. I wanted to succeed so bad in animation, and when I couldn’t, I just started painting, which helped. After working with art for a while, I looked into sealing my projects, and that’s how I found resin, and slowly over time I found myself loving resin more and more, which then lead to just resin projects.

Ok, let’s dive right in, I want to hear all about your art journey. When did you start Annies Art Studio? I started in January 2015; in fact, I announced the opening of the studio on my birthday. I also do graphic design for Comic Con which is my specialty, but eventually I would like to work on my art full time. You specialize in resin more than other materials; how did you get into that? So, I went to three Universities and got animation degrees, and I thought, “I am going to be a millionaire, I am going to be the best animator in the world”. I even told my mom that she could retire in a couple of years. I love the industry, and the animation, but then when reality hit, it was harsh. Animation is primarily male based, so to find a job without years of experience or contacts was really difficult. I also experienced a lot of sexual harassment, and it was hard to grow. I will say, 38 UPLOADER MAGAZINE

You have gained over 300,000 followers across your various channels and media outlets, and have amassed millions of views, that’s pretty awesome. Yes, it has been an incredible journey. When I started this, there were not many influencers out there making videos of art, and since I was able to edit my own videos, it definitely set me aside from other people. Because I was an animator it was easier for me to create time-lapses. I edited my videos so that they were satisfying to watch. It was something new and unique, which lead to videos going viral, and then the quick growth of my channel. Then every time I posted a new video, they would blow up instantly. (continued on page 41)

FEATURE One of your recent art videos you posted on TikTok went viral overnight. This video went to 17.6 million views in a week. It must be amazing to see that sort of response. Yes, I was working on this really big piece, and it was my birthday so when I posted, I wrote “it’s my birthday, give me some love”, and it just went crazy, by the second day it had about 5 million views, and the numbers just kept going up. TikTok is such a fantastic platform and really fun too! You are also so good at posting on social media, what do you think the key to Instagram is? Let me tell you, social media is a completely different world. It can be really wonderful, and then the next minute it’s not. The algorithm is constantly changing, so if you don’t post often then your numbers go down, and since there are so many people now doing similar things, your post space gets taken up by someone else. So, no matter how I’m feeling, or what I’m doing, I always make a point of creating content and posting at least a couple of times a day. I need to do that more often, my account goes through too many quiet spells... but back to your art. Do you sell your art pieces? I do, I have an Etsy shop where I sell most of my pieces, if they haven’t already been claimed through social media. You have just recently created Valentine’s Art Boxes, such a fabulous idea. Thank you, yes. it’s so fun, and I have already started sending the boxes out, so that the buyers can create their art pieces in time for Valentine’s day. I am also donating 75% of the proceeds to the devastating fires in Australia. (That’s really wonderful that you are doing that.) It is just so heartbreaking to see what is happening, and the art community is so amazing. We are all coming together to help in any way we can. What would you like to see happen in the next few years with regards to your art? I would love my art boxes to really take off and become subscription based, similar to the makeup boxes that people receive monthly. I have always loved helping people, and I feel that my (continued on page 42)

FEATURE boxes would do that by providing new materials, art inspiration, and how-to instructions. I would also love to have my own gallery with all my pieces on show.

“ You don’t have to be born an artist to make beautiful art!” Now that you have had a chance to browse our new content creator magazine, what do you think to it? It’s such a different idea. All contact creators have online outlets such as channels, blogs and social media, but I feel in a magazine you can really get to know the true person by asking certain questions, that maybe hasn’t been directly put out there in the online world. Also, there are a lot of content creators that we won’t know. Uploader Magazine isn’t just featuring artists like me, it’s all different creative artists. When I get the magazine, I get a view into another world, and get to learn about other people that I have never seen before, which is also educational. You are creating this web by connecting different people, from different areas of the world, and giving them a voice all in one place. I think it’s really amazing! Such a fabulous answer, thank you!! Ok... last question. Since this is a Valentines publication, I thought I’d ask what your perfect Valentine’s day/evening would be? Well, I’m going to be “single as a pringle” this Valentine’s day. So if I’m not catching up with friends, then I will most likely be in my studio, having a glass of wine, dancing and creating. That actually sounds like a really fabulous way to spend Valentine’s day. Thank you so much for answering my questions, and I can’t wait to see all your available art pieces. Check out Annie’s beautiful art by following her over on social media, and also don’t forget to browse out her Etsy shop, her pieces alone are worth the visit. Etsy: AnniesArtStudio15

MAT HAYES

Mat discusses his childhood trauma, brought on by the church’s teachings on homosexuality, which led to the creation of his multi-award winning short film Cognitive.

G

rowing up as a gay kid in a small town in Alabama, I would never have thought I’d be making content that would help people in similar situations. I had a modest, but fortunate upbringing. My parents worked tirelessly to provide for my brother and me. Like most Southern families in the United States, we were in church every Sunday and Wednesday. It allowed us to be very social and active all through our childhoods. But some of the things I was being taught at church were in contrast to the very core of who I was. So from a young age, I was taught that I was not okay. I wasn’t safe. I’m sure that informed decisions, points of view, and choices I made throughout my young adult life. But about a year and a half ago, the trauma that resulted from a childhood of having to keep my entire being a secret started playing out in ways I didn’t know how to handle. Fortunately, I’m in a profession where, as an actor and filmmaker, I get to tell stories for a living. And boy, did I have a story to tell! I’m an acting coach at a studio catering to top-tier talent. Speed Reels Studio is owned by Jessalyn Gilsig, the actress playing some of our favorite female characters on television. We were testing a new camera lens and I just happened to have a story I’d wanted to put on tape. We rolled and I told a story about how, as a young child, I thought I had AIDS because of the church’s teachings on homosexuality: that it was God’s punishment for being gay. I described the journal I wrote in for my parents

By Mat Hayes Edited by Cheryl De Marco after I died. I joked about lying to people when they asked what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wasn’t going to grow up; I had AIDS! I never told anyone, including my parents, about this severe misconception I had as a child. I didn’t want to make anyone feel bad about anything. After all, they were just doing the best they could with what knowledge they had. But in not wanting to hurt anyone, I was only hurting myself. And worse, there were still kids sitting in church pews being told the same thing: that they weren’t okay. After I finished my story, Jessalyn stopped recording, standing behind the camera, and said, “you have to write that.” So I did. That’s where my film, Cognitive, was born. And what a cathartic experience it was. I started writing and the scenes just poured out of me onto the page. I shared the script with my good friend and mentor, Del Shores, who had found his career in Hollywood writing about his own experiences. Between he and Jessalyn, I was being guided through the early stages of development, not even sure where we were headed! I started adjusting the scripts through different drafts, finally cementing what would be the final draft. But now what? I knew this would take money and other people to help produce. I had been a part of other people’s crowd funding campaigns, learning a little bit about what to do to ensure the greatest success. I didn’t follow any of those rules. (continued on page 53)

FEATURE I broke the 3 biggest rules of crowd sourcing by launching after a night out at the bars, in the wee hours of the morning, on a Friday, with no launch announcement. Readers: don’t follow my example. Nevertheless, I got a few initial donations from close friends who had become just as passionate about this project as I was. My goal was $5000, but I would be happy with a couple thousand and then we would see what kind of short film we could make. Anyone reading this who works in film is probably laughing at that statement because that wouldn’t even pay for renting the most basic of equipment. I was fortunate to be ignorant in what I was doing because it kept me from getting in my own way. Well the donations kept pouring in. Small amounts, large amounts, and TONS of social media shout-outs. I called some of my more successful coaching clients and pitched them the film and was met with “yes” everywhere I went. It goes to show you that this is a relationship industry. People were begging to be a part of this. I just couldn’t believe it. I had secured some incredible talent that offered to do this film with me. It was also during this time that I found the most integral part of the film: the younger version of me who had to convince an audience that knew more than he did that he had AIDS. My neighbor Melissa (not in the industry) told me she knew a kid. I thought, “okay, let’s appease her suggestion.” Within seconds, before even reading the audition materials, I knew this was the kid. Zakary Risinger blew me out of the water with the innocence and optimism he brought to this layered character. My cast was complete. Me, Del Shores, Jessalyn Gilsig, Erica Tazle, Daniel Robaire, Zakary Risinger, Jackie Mah, Shane Almagor, Sophie Knight, and Reed Marvin. And y’all, the funds just kept pouring in! I was posting non-stop about the project, uploading interviews with my incredible cast, and everything else that would be shareable. Indiegogo had us featured on their film/media page for 3 weeks. Remember me saying my initial goal was $5000? Well we finished the campaign at almost $22,000. That little fake screen test in my coaching studio now had a budget that it was worth. My story was going to get out there. This was my first project that I had written, directed, produced, and starred in. I don’t know if I can ever wear all those hats simultaneously again, but I sure did learn a lot and I wouldn’t trade the stressful learning curve for anything. Other people of note during this process were my producer Brie Cubelic, casting director Melanie J Brown, my DP Jon Lile, Sound by Kyle McLane, Composer Michael Spicer, and the best editor Donna Mathewson. There was even an incredible, LGBTQ inclusive/affirming church that donated their space for us to shoot the church scenes. Hollywood United Methodist Church in Los Angeles is doing SO much to advance queer rights and causes within the church and I am so thankful they were a part of this story.

After finishing the final cut with Donna, I started targeting my festivals. Thanks to working with Del, I knew a lot of connections to some more prominent LGBTQ festivals. But I wanted to make sure this film wasn’t just “preaching to the choir” per se, but also educating people how the context we place our kids in determines their worldview. So I was submitting everywhere. It’s a good thing we raised as much as we did with crowd funding because festival submissions is an area nobody tells you about in regards to costs! I didn’t get into the first festival I submitted to. That bummed me out so bad and I thought it would be a bad sign of what’s to come. I was wrong. SO very wrong! We finally wrapped up festival season, screening at 23 festivals in 5 countries over 4 continents, winning 5 awards for best short. Most of those awards came from “straight” festivals too. People were not only seeing this film, but they were loving it and voting for it! If you had told me that I would be flown out and put up in nice hotels just so I could host the screening at festivals all over the country last year, I would never have believed you. Sometimes I still can’t believe it all happened. But thank God (or whatever) that it did! It’s cemented my career as a filmmaker, and really given me a “ministry” of creating the world I wish to live in by using my abilities and talents.

“ I will create content that pushes us towards the light, towards a world where we are ALL well. We owe it to ourselves, our neighbors, and future generations.” I never saw myself as an influencer, but rather a social-media addicted, attention seeker. Yeah, I had cultivated a small following, but it was a loyal one. And it’s because of that following that I was able to raise as much money as I did in such a short amount of time, allowing me to be a voice for the voiceless. I did this, not just for me and other people who sat in those same pews as kids, but also for the kids that are still sitting in those pews, hearing those messages of ignorance and hate! (continued on page 54) UPLOADER MAGAZINE 53

FEATURE I think there’s a challenge to all content creators that we’re not necessarily hearing all the time. I believe there’s an economical purpose to content creation. Sure, it can just be for the sake of entertainment and fun experiences. But we are living in scary times where people are being told they’re inferior, or that they’re not protected, or that they’re not welcome. I don’t know about you, but that is not the world in which I wish to live. I will NOT live in that world. So as a creator, I will create content that pushes us towards the light, towards a world where we are ALL well. We owe it to ourselves, our neighbors, and future generations. I will be the first to tell you that there is a gratuitous indulgence to my social media. But I also am aware of the power we have as influencers and content creators. We must take that charge seriously and do good with it! Otherwise, it’s a hollow and fruitless experience. Let’s use our voices, abilities, means, and talents! Cognitive will begin streaming on the Dekkoo platform starting February 12th, 2020. Just go to dekkoo.com anytime from the 12th on to watch! Jessalyn and I are currently adapting the script to a series format as well. So who knows where this will all end up! I do know one thing: this ride isn’t over. I am so eternally grateful to my executive producers Adrian Mani, Louise Beard, Stuart Bell, Kate Cole, and Carl Cole. Then there’s Randi Armour, Tony Biel, Jesse L. Black, Kay Brown, Larry Cosand, Jo Crooks, Bobby J. Dent, Dennis Frisman, James. W. LaVeck, and Bridget Leary. I am also indebted to the hundreds of people from all over the world that donated on Indiegogo to help bring this project to life. I had the best crew, the best background actors, and you can see all those names in the end credits of the film upon streaming launch! To keep up with me and Cognitive, please visit mathayes.com and cognitivefilm.com. aw of Attraction is not something new, even though it is new to many people. Why is that? I think because it has not been explained in a way that most people can understand, or it has not worked for them in the past. But what if I was to tell you that Law of Attraction is real and does work every single time. How do I know? Besides studying the greats and some of the most successful people in the world, who by the way use the Law of Attraction, I have experienced it myself on different levels in my life. So what is Law of Attraction? It is the power of the universe manifesting what we want to be created. It is a power that every one of us has surrounding us every single second of our lives. How? Consciously and subconsciously, we are always in a state of creating. It does not matter where you live, your circumstances, your past, race, or gender; all of us are creating 24 hours a day, sometimes good and sometimes bad. The universe does not pause or takes a break from us, so we need to understand how the universe works so that we can benefit from it, instead of feeling like life is an uphill battle. ASK – BELIEVE – RECEIVE! Those are the three magic words you hear all the time when it comes to Law of Attraction. Sounds pretty simple, but is it? It is, and it isn’t. It is that simple but we complicate it. To be honest, I believe most of the complication comes from our past and upbringing. A lot of people grow up not believing in themselves, with low self-esteem, co-dependency, emotional and physical abuse, anger issues, poverty level, etc. The good news is that our minds have no boundaries so we can recreate a new life if we choose to. So why don’t most people do this? Because they do not believe they can or do not realize that they have the power to do so. Here is the secret to the Law of Attraction, and why it works for some and not others. Having what you want and experiencing what you want are two different things. We all have what we want, we just have not experienced it yet. People lack experiencing their goals and dreams because they are too busy trying to figure out the “how.” What they need to focus on is the desire and certainty of creating it. So certain that they start to feel and live in a way as if it has already happened, because whatever you focus on, you will attract into your life. If you focus on the good and your desires, you will attract more of it into your life. If you focus on the negative or lack of in your life, you will continue on that path of lacking. The universe gives you what you create and will continue to do so because the choice is always yours. As much as the universe wants to give you everything you desire, it will not do so unless you believe that you can have it. This is where so many people go wrong. We all desire for new things and a better life, but only a small fraction of people truly believe that it is attainable, despite their circumstances.

OF

Attraction By Rebecca Schuster lovebecca.com @lovebecca26

Before we dive deeper on how this all works, let’s go back to when Law of Attraction first became popular. While it existed in biblical times and Plato spoke about it, it didn’t become something people talked about until Napoleon Hill wrote “Think and Grow Rich,” in 1937. Napoleon Hill, after interviewing countless successful people, came to understand that our imagination is the most powerful force the world has ever known. Napoleon Hill discovered through years of research that once you understand how the Law of Attraction works, you can begin to create a happier life. A life where you start to recognize that you always have a choice to think and respond differently in every situation, to focus on your desires, and to create a future where your thoughts and feelings have power. Napoleon Hill believed what the mind of man can conceive and believe, the mind of man can achieve.

“ Believe in what you want so much that it has no choice but to materialize.” The Law of Attraction states that you will attract into your life whatever you focus on, whether it is good or bad. This means one must be intentional with our thoughts and feelings. You need to focus on your desires instead of what you don’t want. Focusing on what you don’t want will only delay the manifestations of your dreams. Let’s take a look into how this entails a 3-step process into manifesting your desires. The first one is ASK, but before you can ask the universe for what you want, you must first know what you truly desire. Otherwise, you end up confusing the universe and nothing happens or it gets delayed. When you are setting your goals make sure to ask this one question…Why? Why do you want this? This simple question holds a lot of power because your answer should bring you deep feelings and desires. If it doesn’t then it may not be something you truly want, or at least not right now. (continued on page 61) UPLOADER MAGAZINE 59

Frank J. Gallio @ Cherry Blossom Photo

FEATURE The second step is BELIEVE. This is where most people fail. Asking is easy. Believing, well, that is a whole other story. For people who daydream a lot, this part might come easy to them, but for people who are more structured and like to analyze things, it might be challenging. Try to see it as you navigating your destiny with the universe opening up doors for you and guiding you along the path. See it as a partnership. You do your part and the universe does their part. You have to trust in a power greater than yours to help you along the way and know, without a shadow of a doubt, that your desire will come to be. If you’re the type of person who has limiting beliefs about themselves, this will be hard for you to do, but not impossible. Do you know the term, “fake it till you make it?” Well, if you find yourself having a hard time believing, you can act as if you believe. Our subconscious mind is a funny thing. It does not know the difference between real and not real. It only knows what you tell it and it will believe anything you say. That’s why what you think and say is crucial to your manifesting. The third step is RECEIVE. Have you heard the term vibrational alignment? Vibrational alignment is when your thoughts create energy. For example, have you ever noticed when you’re in a bad mood the rest of the day seems to go to crap? That is because you are emitting negative energy so you create more of it. In order to receive, your desires and thoughts must match. The quickest way to do that is through positive thinking of your desires as if you are already living them. When our thoughts are in alignment with what we desire it brings out emotions of love, gratitude, and joy. In simple terms, one cannot experience joy and sadness at the same time. Being conscious of your thoughts helps you recognize when a negative thought enters your mind so that you can turn it into a positive thought. This creates a positive energy around you, which puts you back in vibrational alignment to receive. The whole process of Law of Attraction takes time but it is possible to master with daily practice. If you are the type that likes using the word, “but” or is constantly focusing on what you don’t have, this process will be harder for you, and will most likely block you from achieving your goals. Instead, you will continue to get what you continue to think about. So, change your thinking, change what you create. Consistency is key here. Take 5-10 minutes twice a day to check into your thoughts. If you find yourself in a negative place, realign your vibration to match your desired outcome. You can simply do this with affirmations, meditation, visualization, journaling, music, or anything that gets you back in that happy place. Remember, the secret to having it all is believing you already do.

LAW OF ATTRACTION

Ask Becca

Four Steps To Finding Your Ideal Partner

I

By Rebecca Schuster lovebecca.com @lovebecca26

First things first…Ask yourself if you truly want a partner, because if a genuine intention is not there, it will not happen. You will end up just confusing the universe of what you want. I know, as I’ve been there and done that, but this year I have decided I am ready. Are you? If so, let’s manifest our life long partners this year!

Step 1:

Make the decision that you desire a life long partner (not “want” as this just means you lack).

Step 2:

Make a list of your ideal partner. List the physical aspects, personality traits, values, and commonalities that they would possess. Remember, this is your ideal person so do not be afraid to list what you truly desire. If you are doing this with a friend, do not compare each other’s list, as it will be different. My list consists of 28 things. Your list might be shorter or longer. One more thing when creating your list, there is no such thing as a perfect person. You are not perfect so you cannot expect that from someone else. But…there is such a thing as the perfect person for you! Once finished, place this list somewhere you will see every day. For a more visual impact, you can create a vision board or journal with all the words and images on it.

Step 3:

Start visualizing your ideal person and what life would be like with them. It can be anything from how your mornings or evenings would look like, what their voice sounds like, how it feels when they hug or kiss you, how they get along with your children if you have any, or even your wedding day. You have to be able to see it happening because when you do, you start to feel it. Feeling it, as if it is already happening, is the most important key to manifesting anything in your life. Without it, the process does not work or takes a long time. Why? Because believing and feeling is the same, and they do not work without the other. You cannot truly believe something is going to happen without feeling how wonderful it is. When you get to this level, the universe has no choice but to deliver.

Step 4:

Do not worry about how or when it will happen. That is not your job. Your job is to look at your list every day and visualize and feel it coming. That is it. If you do this, that person will appear at the perfect time, maybe when you least expect it. Oh and one last thing…you must leave your home to find your person. They are not going to come knocking on your door. If you do your part in finding them, they will do their part in finding you.

Magic Texts To Help You

Get The Guy

You are interested in a guy, but unsure what to text, when to text and how often. Are your texts too flirty, or not flirty enough? When it comes to men, they like a little chase, but don’t disappear and make them work more than they should; equally, do not be too needy and text all the time, that is a sure-fire way to put a stop to any possible relationship. Be flirty, but not over the top, unless you are already in a relationship and want to take it up a notch. Don’t give too much away, you need to leave something for their imagination, but don’t be cold. How you communicate is important, and that is why we are bringing you 9 texts to put you on their radar, but by sending little flirty signals, you stay out of the friend zone. Who knows, you may get the guy sooner than you think. 1. Food porn seems to be pretty huge right now, but by bringing it into conversation can build a little appetite. Talk about a dish you ate and how good it was, and that it was almost sexual, then finish with ‘food porn’ You have put sex and porn in the same message without being too full on? 2. When you are out doing something fun with friends, send him a little message telling him, that he should be there. It’s playful, thoughtful and builds curiosity, especially if you haven’t told him what you are doing. 3. You know that saying, you want what you can’t have... well a guy usually starts to notice a woman when she is dating someone else. If you are really interested in this guy but not getting anywhere, start dating other people. Be careful though, don’t date in his circle of friends... bro code is strong; but also, don’t date just to get back at him for not making a move, that’s not fair on the guy you’re dating, and who knows.... the guy you’re dating may end up being the guy for you! know you are heading out for a date, it may spark a little jealously, and a little is healthy. 4. Create an emotional connection by texting him thoughtful things at appropriate times but be careful to not overdo it! If he is ill, send him a get-well message. If there is something big happening like a job change, house move etc., ask him how it went. Show him you truly care. 5. If you have both flirted a little back and forth then this next one may be for you. “I’ve had a hard day; can we blow off some steam tonight?”. This comes across as playful, but very flirty. Keep them on their toes and curious. 6. Send him something that creates a picture in his mind, whilst showing you caring side... “I’m sorry I didn’t pick up earlier, just out of a long hot shower, are you ok?” This will spark thoughts, that turn into images. 7. Try arousing his imagination, by including him in your decisions... “I’m wearing a figure-hugging dress; do you think it’s too much for our catch up later?” 8. Bring out the “we could never be friends” during a conversation, but in a fun way. Like, “you aren’t a fan of Harry Potter, oh we could never be friends”. It’s fun and subtle but will strike up a conversation. 9. Tell him how helpful he is. You may not know it, but every man wants to feel like they are helpful. “thank you so much for earlier today, I couldn’t have done it without you. You literally saved my life.” It will bring a wave of happiness to them, which you created. Dating can be fun, so enjoy it. I would love to hear if you have tried any of these and if they work. By Robin De Lano and Alexandra Case Edited by Cheryl De Marco www.instagram.com/girlsiauditionwith Writers/Producers/Comedic Genesises/Actors. What haven’t we done? An interview with Cheryl for Uploader Magazine! ... oh wait... Alexandra & Robin are the Insta-famous comedy duo from that hella dope IG account you forgot you follow called @GirlsIAuditionWith. The pair first partnered over their love of comedy and rap music. They began entertaining their non-entertainment industry friends with their humorous audition stories and BAM! - a star named @GirlsIAuditionWith was born. 66 UPLOADER MAGAZINE

Alexandra Case was voted class clown in high school, but felt it never really counted because her hometown only had 900 people. Determined to prove she has “big game”, Alexandra moved to Los Angeles and read for the role of “Girlfriend” so many times that she started improving breakup scenes… which led to writing, which led to writing-producing, which led her to discovering her most creative self… and realizing she’s most comfortable when a camera’s rolling. Keep an eye out for her comedy feature, Soulmates(s), which she co-wrote and stars in, releasing later this year.

A Los Angeles native, Robin De Lano got her start in show business at an early age as the first ever Mexican Annie. From there she realized she could be the first ever anything, so she set her sights on being Matt Damon’s wife. When woo-ing Matt Damon didn’t work out she set her sights on more realistic expectations- being an actress! She continued to study voice, acting, and dating, growing her resume to new heights! She has performed in some the most incredible venues: cruise ships, hotel bars, The Hollywood Bowl, her grandma’s basement, and most recently, Instagram. Now back in LA, Robin continues to sing, act and improv all at the same time. She is now woo-ing Alexander Skarsgard. (Apparently she really likes people named Alex.)

FEATURE You both bounce so well off each other during your sketches, how did you meet? R: I met Alex in acting class. She did a rap song about Vegetables, and I knew we had to work together. So I ambushed her after class, and told her were were doing a video together. We’ve been friends ever since! A: The first time I heard Robin sing in acting class, I got goose bumps. She has the presence of a super star, and I knew if I was ever going to be famous I’d have to collaborate with star quality. That’s so awesome! I find myself bing watching your work on @GirlsIAuditionWith, they are so re-latable and have a lot of laugh-out-loud moments... I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THEM! What made you go down the route of comedy? R: First off, we love to laugh! A: The idea for an Instagram sketch show that allows a behind-the-scenes look at an actor’s life came about when we were at a friend’s going-away party... R: aka bitch couldn’t hack it in LA! Kidding. But we were joking about the shenanigans we have to go through just to get an audition in this town. A: For example - Robin was temping as a “nurse” in a liposuction clinic and was in a panic because she had a callback the same day the doctor had scheduled a surgery. R: I tried to persuade the doctor to reschedule the surgery so I could make my callback, but the doc was not having it. Surgery was scheduled for 7am and my callback was at 10am. So I did the next best thing and called Alex. A: Cue Robin’s stand in... R: I couldn’t miss this callback! A: I volunteered to cover for her. I figured this could be my opportunity to prep for a recurring role on Chicago Med. R: I trained Alex with liposuction videos I found online. I know this sounds bad, but assisting a lipo surgery is simple - you do everything the doctor says, and then empty the fat bucket. A: Heads up, I don’t like blood. Or pink buckets full of human fat. So I wore my most responsible looking outfit... I really dressed for the part. R: The doc took one look at Alex and was like “no way

girl” and forced her to dress head to toe in scrubs. A: “Owns Scrubs” is still on my resume under Special Skills. R: Long story short - Alex was a rockstar. A: I did most of it with eyes closed. R: But I booked the job! A: And I gave her a standing ovation on opening night. R: The moral of the story is: “Friends don’t let friends miss callbacks”. Great moral, and I would love to hear this in a speech when you’re up on stage collecting your awards! What would be your most memorable sketch and why? R: We love all of our work - BUT! One of the best times we had was filming our self-tape sketch. A self tape is when you put yourself on video for an audition. It’s often a challenge because you only have a short amount of time to do it; and if you don’t have a home studio (which we don’t) or an extra 30 bucks to pay a self tape studio (which we usually don’t) then you have to get creative. We had so much fun filming this sketch - I was laughing so hard my stomach was hurting. I love when we make ourselves laugh! We’re really funny. A: SAME! Robin I was thinking of the exact same sketch!! See how great comedic minds work alike?! The self-tape sketch was hysterically funny. We had to do so many takes just to get one clip where we weren’t laughing at ourselves. The very end shot of me it almost looks like I’m crying but I seriously had tears running down my face from laugher. We’ve all got to laugh at ourselves sometimes, and by choosing to put our funniest faces forward on Instagram on a platform where everyone else is putting their best, most highly retouched face forward, it just highlights the comedy of it all. The comedy of life! R: One of our most popular videos is the one where I’m singing under a door. A: Everyone loves that one! R: There’s also a sketch where we go to the Screen Actors Guild building to try and get SAG cards A: We’re both proud members... R: And Alex is so baller, she yelled right outside the building “HEY HOW DO YOU GET A SAG CARD?!” And someone in the parking lot responded with a, “YOU GO GIRL!” I was dying! It’s so funny! (continued on page 74) UPLOADER MAGAZINE 73

FEATURE Alex is sometimes shy when it comes to certain acting bits, but you put that girl in a public place and she will do almost anything! A: Robin’s facial expressions are pure genius. She’s just so naturally funny. One time we collaborated with an ex-Playboy bunny model and came up with the idea that Robin is so excited she booked a gym commercial... until she finds out she booked the role of “Before”... We had the model being “After” and running around in teeny sports bras. Robin’s face cracks me up every time. Ok, I definitely need to find this sketch. Being British It took me a little while to understand American humor, what do you think to the British humor? R: (In an American accent) I LOVE British humor! Sometimes I wish I could change my Netflix account settings to London, so I can watch all your magical shows! One of my favorite movies of all time is Monty Python and the Holy Grail! A: (In British accent) Please bring me a biscuit. R: One of best gifts to American award shows is Ricky Gervais, and I think The Office changed American TV comedy! So my answer is, British humor is the schiznett. A: @GirlsIAuditionWith was once described as “an American Ab Fab” which is such an honor. Congrats to Phoebe Waller-Bridge for her Fleabag win!! CDM: Ab Fab is a favorite of mine too, and Monty Python is a classic! Silently opens google ‘what does schiznett’ mean.. :) I imagine you both have pretty big things on the horizon, what is next for you both and @GirlsIAuditionWith? R: Uhm. Yes? A: BIG THINGS!!! (beat. really long pause while they smile too big and quickly think.) R: Besides crashing the Oscars 2021, I’m plotting my engagement to a handsome European man (DM me for a date). A: I’m actively pitching the next big female comedy film to anyone who’ll listen (I’m looking at you Netflix!). R: We also finally plan to open up savings accounts... A: Our last ones got emptied for sushi & head shots. If you’re gonna empty it, sushi and headshots certainly sounds like a fab way to go! (continued on page 76) 74 UPLOADER MAGAZINE

FEATURE Ok, I’m almost done, just one last question! If you could sum each other up in 5 words, what would they be?

Robin on Alex

R: Hair. Thrift Store. Vermont. Carrots. Hustler. Hair: Alex has THE BEST hair. It grows like wild fire, is thick, and always looks amazing. She hates it, but if ever a day arose where I could switch hair with anyone (like a lego) I would take Alex’s hair and just brush it and swing it. Thrift Store: Alex is a master at finding cute second hand items in a record amount of time. Let Alex loose in a Goodwill and she will put together an outfit that will look like she’s hired a stylist. Vermont: She’ll always be a country girl at heart. A: Quick shoutout to Vermont! The great state of Maple Syrup... and me. I was just there visiting my parents over the holidays, they’re huge @GirlsIAuditionWith fans. They’re favorite character is Robin. R: Carrots: I have never seen anyone enjoy eating carrots more than Alex. I’m surprised she’s not orange. Hustler: Girl can hustle! She gets things done!!!

Alex on Robin Photography: @TihanyiPhoto

Alexandra Case 76 UPLOADER MAGAZINE

A: Talented. Singer. Chocolate. Tarot Cards. FUN! Talented: Robin is seriously one of the most talented people I know. She can juggle multiple jobs, two callbacks, any color lipstick, and always looks good doing it. She’s also an amazing theater actress, which I greatly admire because the idea of performing live theater scares the schiznett outta me. Singer: If you haven’t heard Robin belt out a solo in

FEATURE haven’t heard the 8th wonder of the world. Her voice is that of a goddess, and I’ll leave you to stalk her singing on social media. Chocolate: Somehow chocolate it always tastes better when you eat it with Robin. Tarot Cards: Robin can read them! And she’s super accurate. Robin taught me that when life hands you The Devil card, it can be turned upside down to represent something positive and good. The sketch where we keep asking a tarot card reader if we’re going to be famous may or may not be based on a true story... FUN!: Robin is always so much fun to be around. Throw her into a rock concert - she’ll be up onstage. Throw her into a meditation circle - her 3rd eye will be on fire. Seriously. She’s the life of the party. Since this is a Valentines publication I thought I’d throw out a cheeky question, how do you like to celebrate Valentines? A: I plan to celebrate with my favorite burger and my favorite bloke. R: I’m hoping to be celebrating Valentine’s Day with a date I’m gonna get from this magazine interview. That’s it... thank you both so much for going through these questions with me. If there is anything else you would like to add, please do fire away, oh and I will be in LA again mid February if you fancy meeting up. (Just saying, cause you both sound absolutely fabulous!) Pun Intended ;) A: We’d love to meet up with you! We also love that you used the word ‘fancy’ :) R: We’re also willing to move to Europe...

SOCIAL

BASIC GUIDE to

TikTok

TikTok is easily one of the most used and viewed platforms out there in the world of cyberspace. Used by billions and extremely popular amongst teens. Yet, if you are like me, then you will have most likely heard of it, and watched clips that have been posted without really realizing they originated from TikTok, but your understanding of how it works, who is it for, and whether it can help grow your brand, is limited. We at Uploader have decided that each month we will create a section specifically for social media platforms. This month we are just grazing the top of TikTok, giving you a very basic guide of what it is, and how it works, but it’s important to start somewhere! We scoured the internet, researched, spoke to teens and tried for ourselves, in order to give you a very quick and brief idea of how to start using TikTok. But before we move on to the basic steps, we thought we would give you a little rundown of what TikTok actually is, for those that are unsure, like myself.

TikTok merged with Musical.ly a little while back and is now center stage and the preferred go-to platform for users especially amongst teens. The online video platform allows users to upload clips of up to 1 minute, and whilst most are only 15 seconds long; 60 seconds certainly offers the ability to show more content, rivalling Instagram. The app allows likes, sharing, commenting, posting to other platforms and yes, it does include the very popular use of hashtags. It can be daunting to use, especially if you are new to the application, as it doesn’t seem that self-explanatory at first. But once you are in, and have a basic understanding, it is easy to navigate, and we promise it is worth a little time and patience. TikTok’s home feed is very similar to Instagram’s explore page, with two feed options, (Following and For You.) If you are familiar with swiping on Tinder, then you won’t have a problem with switching between the two home feeds, and you’ll know which one you are on, as the header will be bold. 80 UPLOADER MAGAZINE

by Cheryl De Marco

Just like Instagram, the TikTok home page also has a selection of 5 icons at the bottom: Home: this is self-explanatory. Videos will automatically start to play, but if you don’t scroll then the same video will continue playing on repeat. Discover: this will show you what is trending along with the hashtag. having the trending hashtags this visible is definitely a bonus! Shoot: ready to give it a try... well this is where you’ll do it. We will go into this section in more detail next month, but if you want to give it a go, here is a very quick breakdown. Choose between a 15 second or 60 second clip. Next you can choose a sticker, template or a filter, and the options are endless. Press the record button which can be found at the bottom, then when you are happy with your clip, click the red ‘tick’ which will take you to the next phase of choosing music, effects, and text. Once you have chosen your options, hit the red ‘next’ button, and it will take you to a posting page similar to that of Instagram. Here you can write a little blurb about your video, include hashtags, and choose certain settings like allowing comments and who can view it. Then post away!! Inbox: again, very self-explanatory, this is where you’ll receive messages and notifications. Me: similar to the Instagram profile layout, you will see your followers, who you are following, total likes, and all your videos in this section. That’s it for this month’s social section, but do look out for it in the next publication, as we will be going into more detail. If there is a topic you would like us to cover, or maybe you would like to add to, or be a part of, within this section, please email us at hello@uploadermagazine.com and we will respond to as many of you as we can, and who knows, you may get the spotlight!

VALENTINE’S DAY

Valentine’s Day Outfit Ideas

By Tiffany Giannato Blog: thethrillofthehuntbytiffyg.com @tiffyg77

Style & Sass

Ah Valentine’s Day, otherwise known as the day of romance around the world. Whether or not you are a romantic at heart, or think cupid is a creepy fellow, February 14 is coming. When the calendar switches to February 1, I tend to get inundated with questions as a stylist regarding what to wear on Valentine’s Day. The truth is that there is no “right” way to do Valentine’s Day, because different agendas call for different looks. However, whether or not you are going for a romantic touch, a casual look, or some sparkle and shine, a little outfit “refresh” helps you look good, feel good, and makes you feel more attractive to your love interest. Here are three outfit ideas I recommend for Valentine’s Day this year. All Black Everything….with a Pop of Red Wearing all black is flattering, slimming, practical, and appropriate for just about anywhere and everywhere. I love adding the pop of red for this holiday. It is “just enough.” Leather skirts and body suits are trendy and add sex appeal for any women. Add a pop of red with an accessory, a shoe, or a lipstick color. Graphic T-shirt A graphic t-shirt exudes your vibe. They continue to be popular and are the basis for many wardrobes currently. I think a Valentine’s Day graphic t-shirt in pink or red with a simple, holiday graphic is perfect for a casual style date.

Sequins Glitz and Glam is everywhere for many “ootn” looks. They add a feminine flare to any outfit. For Valentine’s Day, try a sequin top in black, silver, or a light pink color. Pair up with jeans or black pants and heels (of course.)

(As St. Augustine once stated “Love is the beauty of the soul.” I hope all of you beautiful souls reading my column enjoy Valentine’s Day with your special someone.)

ave you ever woken up in the middle of the night with a crazy idea? And then by morning, you think you can actually do it?

Well that’s what happened to Karen Nochimowski in June 2018. At the time she had a successful cooking blog, MommaChef.com, with more than 80,000 followers. It features recipes using six ingredients or less and prepared in six minutes or less. She also was busy writing articles for dozens of magazines and working with various companies to develop recipes using their products. All of this would have been a dream-come-true for most food bloggers, but Karen didn’t feel complete. Something was missing. It was that “ah-ha” moment at 3 a.m. when Karen realized she wanted to focus more time and energy into helping others. And what could be more perfect than opening a soup kitchen to feed the needy? Once the idea came to her, she was determined to make it happen. Over the next few months, she researched what was needed to help the under-resourced people in the Chicago area. She quickly found a facility that was willing to donate its space to house the soup kitchen. Karen created a business plan, held fundraisers to offset the costs, and designed menus to feed more than 100

people. Within four months -- in October 2018 -- Momma Chef’s Soup Kitchen opened its doors at Congregation KINS in the north suburban Chicago. Each Tuesday evening, Momma Chef’s Soup Kitchen provides a seven-course homemade hot dinner, as well as bagged lunches to-go. That middle of the night idea now provides more than 7,000 meals yearly to elderly, unemployed, underemployed, poor or homeless men, women and children. What makes this soup kitchen unique is that Karen was determined to run it with no overhead other than the cost of food and security. Every person involved, including Karen, donates his/ her time. The soup kitchen needs more than 600 volunteers/year to prepare and serve the meals. Karen wants to encourage everyone that if there is something you believe in -- a cause that taps your shoulder or keeps you awake at night -- believe in yourself! One person truly can make a difference. Eighteen months ago, when Karen came up with the idea to open a soup kitchen and provide meals to those in need, it sounded impossible. She pulled energy, both physically and mentally, from within and went for it. Ever since, she has been making a difference in the lives of people one meal at time. You can find Karen at www.mommachef.com. She is still busy with her blog and plans to publish a cookbook in 2021 with delicious “6 under 6” recipes.

Lola’s

Top Ways

To Save Time & Money on Your Travels By Lola Obamehinti @ohthatslola Edited by Cheryl De Marco

Book basic economy flights These are the cheapest fares (basic economy, economy then business class/first class). Most airlines have changed their rules in the past few years where you now get 1 carry-on and 1 personal item included with basic economy fare. However, you won’t get to pick your seat and usually must board the plane in the last group. If these stipulations don’t bother you, then basic economy might be for you.

Select late night or early morning flights “Red-eye” flights are usually cheaper and when you are traveling between time zones you will potentially have more time to spend at your destination.

Use a travel credit card to book flights and accommodations There are many travel credit cards available and they all give more cash back than regular credit cards. They also provide the option of using your earned points to directly purchase flights due to the travel credit cards’ partnerships with various airlines.

Print out your boarding pass or use a mobile boarding pass Some airlines charge a fee to print out your boarding pass at the airport so you can save money by taking advantage of this travel hack. You will also save time because once you arrive at the airport you can go straight to security.

Learn how to travel light By bringing a carry-on, instead of a checked bag, you eliminate the risk of the airline losing your luggage and save time by being able to go straight to security when you arrive at the airport instead of checking in a bag. (continued on page 103) 100 UPLOADER MAGAZINE

Invest in TSA Precheck The application process can be rather lengthy and expensive but it’s worth it to be able to breeze through security.

Use shared Uber or Lyft rides to get to/from the airport and hotel You will not only save money, you could also make a new friend!

Book a hotel or hostel with breakfast included You will have one daily meal that you don’t have to buy, and you will also get the opportunity to take away food like apples or granola bars to snack on as you go about your day.

Wake up early to take photos at landmarks so you can avoid crowds and long lines It’s frustrating when you arrive at a popular site and have to wait for people to filter out so you can take a photo without others in your shot so to avoid this arrive early to destination landmarks.

Instead of a taxi or ride share, take public transportation when you arrive at your destination and are out exploring If it’s good enough for the locals, it’s good enough for you! Public transportation is cheaper than ride sharing services or taxis and when you are visiting multiple places in a day on your travels, paying for a taxi to each location can get very expensive.

Questions with

Phan

We sat down with beautiful actress and model An Phan, and asked about her journey on becoming an award winning actress here in Los Angeles, and the obstacles she faced Edited by Cheryl De Marco kierankhangphotography.com www.liorpictures.com

Before we jump in, congratulations on your awards for your short film ‘Gold’, it’s such an inspirational story. (Ok, let’s chat a little about you and your journey on becoming an award winning actress here in LA?) Did you know you always wanted to be an actress? Yes, ever since I was a kid, but I was not able to tell my parents. My parents are immigrants from Vietnam and have been through so much. They didn’t want their kids to participate in the arts, it’s not a disgrace, but rather not a practical choice, and I guess their thought was why do something like that, instead of something stable. So, I hid that from them so they wouldn’t stress so much. We have a really small home, and my parents couldn’t afford even basic items like a television, but after we were given a small and very old used one, my dad took me to the dollar store to get VHS, and I used to watch all these old movies. I loved to get away from everything, from our broken home and living in poverty, it was a chance to live another character’s life, not that my own isn’t beautiful. My parents then started to realized that I liked the arts, when I started to perform at school, but we never really spoke about it. In high school I started to do theatre play, but I would end up playing the chorus and never getting the main roles as they were not designed for Asians; and although it was hard, I loved to perform and get away from my reality and 104 UPLOADER MAGAZINE

immerse myself in another character. It was a ticket for me to live another character’s life and feel their emotions, to relive and transcend to another life. As an undergrad, I still continued performing, and my parents thought that since I was still at school, I wouldn’t continue to pursue it once I had graduated. In my undergrad year, I double majored in theatre with visual arts, then minor in museum curating, which comforted my parents, as they thought that museum curating was business arts, and they thought I would stick with the business aspects of the arts and not performance. I still continued to take a bunch of theatre classes, and I knew that I would move to Los Angeles and get my Master’s in Fine Arts, in Acting for Film. The word ‘performance’ is not a word my parents liked, as it has a stigma about it, ‘sex, drugs and rock n roll’, but they were happy still thinking that I was about to get my master’s in business arts. The day of my graduation, is when I let the truth be revealed to my father, he came and read the pamphlet that was sitting on his chair, which read Master’s in Fine Arts in Acting for Film, and he was so upset. It wasn’t the graduation I thought I would have, as he was really uncomfortable (as he should be in the moment). My mom knew, but not my dad. SORRY DADDY, I STILL LOVE YOU! You were crowned Miss Talent Vietnam USA in 2018, are you still involved in pageants, and (continued on page 106)

if so, how do you find the time between acting, writing, producing and modelling? Yes, I just did another pageant recently, and I titled as IV Princess in the Royal Courts. I did take a break after 2018 as it was really exhausting for me, but the reason why I like to still be involved, is because want to be closer to my community. There is a huge Vietnamese community out here in Los Angeles in Orange County, but I wanted to go to the bay area over in San Francisco. My Vietnamese name, Thiên An is very familiar there, and because of my community I was able to be televised and get some work and build more relationships, and what person doesn’t need that kind of help, especially in Hollywood. I am a very organized person, and I try to squeeze in as much as possible, my poor manager works the hardest for me. You were recently a guest on ‘TEDx Talks’, where you talked about the obstacles that Asian Actors face in Hollywood. What type of obstacles have you faced? The stereotype of being typecast, and it really is a topic of Asians in Hollywood. You don’t see that many Asian/ Americans being handed main roles. I am here trying to carve my path and make it in Hollywood, and whilst many people in my community do support me, they are also thankful that their children are not in the same industry; they look at me like I’m this really brave person fighting the battle all on my own. That is why I do what I do, I don’t see myself as a pageant girl, or a model, I see myself as a Vietnamese American girl, a child of two refugee parents, who loves to perform, and wants to create not only a representation, but to be able to create stories that will bring empathy and add history to our community. Another obstacle would be balancing a schedule. It’s important to keep moving forward, and working hard, you have to continue to audition and push for roles. People look at actors and only see the glamour, but they don’t see what it takes to get there. They think that actors can only act and that’s it. However, many of us are working on other things, and within other areas outside of acting. I worked at a veterinarian clinic in the evenings, where I learned to give injections, antibiotics and medicine to kittens, I love kittens; and it’s funny beacause people say that I am shooting myself in the foot, because I could be doing anything in life, yet I choose the acting route. I do multiple jobs that corelate with auditions, and modelling during the day, and then at night I don’t sleep. I do a lot of things, and I am very proud of it. It’s important to believe in yourself. For me personally, I’m not sure about others, but I have this obsessiveness to learn as much as I can within my craft and myself, and that is when I know I am the happiest. Do you find it is becoming easier now that you have carved a path here in Hollywood? Yes and no. In comparison to when I (continued on page 109)

first graduated with my Master’s, then yes. In Hollywood, it’s not just about talent, it’s about who you know, and how you really push yourself and work on your craft. I am so lucky as I was booked as co-star for “Euphoria” and that show blew up, and then I was also the season finale for the Jim Carrey Show “Kidding”, which will be coming out soon, and I realized OMG people are starting to reach out to me, find work for me, and even just talking to me, like knowing my name. Every opportunity builds up, and everything that I do has a purpose to it, and it started to show, so hard work does pay off. There’s always going to be struggle, but it’s my positive outlook and dedication that made it purposeful. What advise would you give to other aspiring Actors and actresses that are facing the same barriers you faced? I can only speak for myself and hope my journey will inspire those around me to do good. I am from a small town, 5 foot 4, less than a hundred pounds, in a minority group and the first generation from an immigrant family, let alone to pursue entertainment in Hollywood. You can either see those elements as an obstacle or an asset. I still get critical comments from people I encounter when they realized I came from a small town. I like to show them what crazy dreamers can do.. Use your story, you are where you are meant to be, and all your stories shape you to be the person that God created you to be in this life. Talent isn’t enough, you must work hard, but don’t work hard to gain for yourself, work hard so that you can provide good service for your community, and build a legacy for the next generation. You have a lot going on at the moment, how do you find time for yourself? It’s difficult, but I always do find a little time for myself each day. I call my parents at least once every day even if we talk for a few minutes, which I know sounds like a lot, but they are all I have. They are the reminder where I came from. People said that when I move to LA, I would change, I didn’t really know what they were talking about then, but then I learned gradually. It is a totally different climate, and you really have to make the time for the ones you love and care, else you’ll get lost in the hustle. My family and friends keep me grounded. I love to be left alone to recharge, whenever I come home from set, or from a photoshoot it’s my time to recuperate. I talk to my parents on the way home, and then I shut out everything, social media, phone calls, email, I put the ‘do not disturb’ on, so I get 15 minutes to myself to meditate, and do breathing exercises. Mental health is so important. My time alone is so important. What are your thoughts on our magazine for content creators? I think it is innovative and it provides a great platform for all artists to be heard.

RIES (March 21st - April 19th)

Welcome to February, a lovely month that will feel less intense than the heavier January before. You will begin the month still feeling the festive and social flow, as events are likely to be the focus of your attention. Don’t hide away: this is a time to grow closer with your community! Life will feel even more pleasurable once Venus, planet of love, parades into your zodiac sign on the 7th to stay for the entire month. You will be radiant and magnetic in every way. If looking to attract someone, this is one of the best months of the year for you. A Full Moon on the 8th will make your heart roar, so if you are single, be sure to hunt down your next romantic interest. Love is in the air at this time and you could find someone who enchants you. If already partnered, use this time to bring passion back into your relationship. Your career ambitions will be back on your mind when Mars, planet of energy, powers up in this sector starting on the 16th for many weeks. Prepare to make a lot of progress toward your goals. You may see important victories during that time. However, as the month draws to a close, you’ll be feeling the need to rest, recharge, and embrace solitude. This is a necessary period where you can reflect on what you have done in the past year. The New Moon on February 23rd will be bringing this energy forward, as well as a tricky Mercury Retrograde, which begins on February 16th. Lie low during this time and enjoy the much-needed break.

EMINI (May 21st - June 20th)

February will be a breath of fresh air after quite a heavy January and you are ready to take flight! A New Moon at the end of the previous month was encouraging you to travel and you may be heeding the call. If travel is not possible now, you may be engaging with academics or spirituality to expand your perspective. This will be very enlightening at this time. A Full Moon in your communications sector takes place on the 8th, which could see you working on an important writing or speaking project such as a proposal, podcast, or social media initiative. You should see success with it at this time. Mars will reside within your marriage and commitment sector throughout much of the month, up until the 16th, so if single, be sure to look for someone who has long-term potential before then. Take the lead and go after them! They will be surprised by your direct and aggressive nature. Being desired and pursued is rare, so they will find your attention irresistible. However, the end of the month turns your mind to your career ambitions, so have your resume ready in case a new prized opportunity appears. If looking to rise higher, you could see great progress after the New Moon here on February 23rd. However, with Mercury Retrograde taking place in your career from the 16th onward, you must not sign any contracts. If you are taking a new position, be prepared for it to shift down the road. Some Gemini could also be realizing their current path isn’t fulfilling them and decide they want to go a new route. If you want to resurrect an old project or connect with old coworkers or bosses, this could also be a good time to do so.

Horoscopes February 2020

AURUS (April 20th - May 20th)

At the beginning of February, you are rising rapidly in your career. Achievements seem to be within reach and the harder you work now, the more powerful you will become. Shocking or exciting news related to your career likely came at the very end of January so you could still be sorting out the pieces in the beginning weeks of this month. Venus will be bringing you blessings and fun with your friends until the 7th, so if looking to attract romance, do so during that time. A Full Moon on the 8th will bring your attention to an important home or family-related issue and some Taurus could be choosing to move or fix up their space at this time. Mars, planet of passion and drive, will be pushing you to venture into new territory starting on the 16th for many weeks, so if looking to launch an important media project, academics endeavor, or immigration matter, you could see tremendous progress. You will also be radiating sex appeal whether single or attached. Confidence will certainly exude in and out of the bedroom. You will start to notice your social life picking up in the last third of the month, especially with a New Moon on the 23rd pushing you to connect closer to your community or add unique new friends to your fold. However, a Mercury Retrograde that begins on the 16th reveals that you could have a disagreement with an acquaintance or hear from a long-lost friend by the end of the month. Reconnect and reminisce at this time or leave those memories behind you.

C

ANCER (June 21st - July 22nd)

Your partnerships will bring you a great deal of pleasure throughout all of 2020, Cancer, and they are certainly still on your mind intensely in February. At the beginning of the month, you will be assessing the balance in your relationships and if they are equal. You could be requiring aid or support and if you communicate it now, it could manifest before your eyes. Also, if needing financial support, such as a scholarship, loan, or venture capital, it may now go through. When Venus, planet of love, enters your career sector on February 7th, you will see a trend over the coming months that lifts you toward new heights of achievement. A Full Moon on the 8th could bring you a raise or much needed check, so keep your eyes on the gold. Some Cancers could get a new job at this time because of it or pay off a loan. When Mars, planet of passion, enters your marriage and commitment zone on the 16th, prepare to make a great deal of progress on your plans while working with a partner. Don’t fly solo at this time. Find someone who can help you move forward. If single, this is a great time to pursue potential mates or if committed, you could bring the fiery passion back into your relationship. Make goals together and you will unite ever more closely. As the month comes to a close, you are feeling the urge to break into new territory. Some Cancers could begin an important media, publishing, or academics project. Others may wish to travel. If you can, go somewhere near a lake or ocean to recharge near your element. It will calm your emotions and help you feel more at peace.

EO (July 23rd - August 22nd)

February will be very important for your partnerships this year, Leo, one of the best times to get engaged, married, or form long-term plans together. While many Leos could see those plans also take place during April or May of this year, now is also quite aligned for it. If looking for an excellent match in business or love, know what you deserve and hunt it down. The days near February 8th will be one of the most important moments of the year for you because it is a Full Moon in your Sun Sign. You will shine even more brightly than you do normally and likely attain a very personal goal close to your heart. Use this time to go after everything that you want because the cosmic vortex favors you above all others. Do not bow to anyone. Make them bow to you. As the month carries on, you could be making very important decisions about your relationships and requiring aid. Communicate directly and articulately so people know what you are after and can lift you toward it. However, some Leos could realize that their relationships are not equal and it’s time to level the playing field. The last thing to note for this month is that on the 16th, Mars, planet of drive, will be heating up your work life. This will continue for many weeks and you can see tremendous progress on the job. You will surely be very busy. Be cautious not to burn out, though, because you may feel your energy depleted from juggling so much. Instead, use this energy to build healthier routines in your exercise and diet.

IBRA (September 23rd - October 22nd)

Cupid is raining arrows of love down upon your life at the start of February, Libra, and what better way to celebrate the season of Valentines? A New Moon at the end of January opened a doorway in your romantic life and put you in the mood. Single Libras are divinely aligned to find a new crush or cross paths with someone who will become the flame of their desire. Committed Libras can enjoy this vibration by bringing the heat and passion back into their relationship! When Venus, planet of harmony, moves into your marriage zone on the 7th, expect even more sparks to fly! With so many factors screaming romance, it’d be a shame for you not to put yourself out there and try. A Full Moon on the 8th will likely see you invited to a very important event where many friends or industry contacts will surround you. Don’t turn it down because it’ll be a highlight of your year. However, the end of the month could bring you a few headaches, as it will be turning your attention to your work and employment. While Mercury Retrograde will be slowing things down here starting on the 16th for the coming weeks, the New Moon on the 23rd will be pushing you to take on more projects or search for a better job. The Universe brings varying circumstances that we must operate within, so if for some reason there’s some confusion on the job, try not to let it stress you out too badly. Remain cool, calm, and collected.

Horoscopes February 2020

IRGO (August 23rd - September 22nd)

Productivity is on your mind in February and you will see so much progress at work. Some Virgos may have started a new job or are looking to, and if so, you’re in luck! Health matters may also have been apparent recently and now will be a fantastic time to find a better regimen or routine that can improve your physical strength going forward. However, the Full Moon on the 8th will have you feeling drained and rushing home to rest and recharge. Don’t push it at this time. You can be prone to overworking, so don’t burn yourself out! Romance and love will also be on the menu this month, especially when Venus, planet of attraction, dances through your commitment sector until the 7th. This is your best opportunity to attract someone with long-term potential if you are single or bring increased affection to a current relationship. However, a New Moon in this area on the 23rd will open doors to better connections if you’re ready to pursue them. With Jupiter, planet of miracles, gracing your true love sector all year, this would be a stunning time to find someone who not only ignites your heart but also has maturity to commit forever. If single, be out searching for that special someone. If already dating, you could now discuss engagement or marriage. However, don’t make any concrete decisions while Mercury is retrograde. This begins on the 16th and goes into March. You can discuss the “possibility” of such things – just don’t start picking out rings or venues. Last, another emphasis on romance occurs because of Mars, the planet of sex, as it brings the fire here also starting on the 16th. This will create a trend for the coming weeks where you can enjoy immense passion. This will be one of the most important times for two years where you can connect with a soul mate. Walk through the doorway and pursue love now. CORPIO (October 23rd - November 21st)

Home and family matters will be your focus at the start of February, and you may have heard some startling news at the end of January about one of these areas. Hopefully you are able to sort it out in the beginning weeks of February so it doesn’t echo on throughout the rest of your year. Some Scorpios could be moving during this time or fixing up their current space. If you do so now, you could enjoy the results quite well. A Full Moon on February 8th, though, will pull your attention away from your family and toward your career because it appears you may be stepping into praise, a promotion, or some significant success. Reach toward your ambitions at this time. If looking to get a new job, be sure to update your resume and apply now. Another major focus throughout the month will be romance for you. You have so much opportunity for it to manifest right before your eyes. Venus, planet of attraction, will be swimming through your love sector until the 7th, so go out and be magnetic. Mercury, planet of the mind, will enter your romance zone on the 3rd and assure exciting conversations, and the Sun will march on, too, on the 18th promising enthusiasm and happiness. Wow! A parade of passion divinely for you! However, Mercury will begin to spin backward in this area on the 16th for several weeks, meaning that you could experience miscommunication with a partner or realize that you are not on the same page. You, too, could realize you are having mixed thoughts. This could also be a time when you reconnect with an ex or old flame, as well, so be on the lookout. The New Moon on the 23rd, though, is gifting you with new opportunities in romance or a deeper connection with the one you’re with now, so utilize this magic in your favor.

S

AGITTARIUS (November 22nd - December 21st)

Throughout 2020, you will see tremendous opportunities for prosperity. February, though, is a time when you must use your communications skills to improve your position in the world. At the beginning of the month, you’ll likely be focused upon an important writing or speaking project, such as a proposal, contract, or branding initiative. This should go quite well for you now if you devote significant attention to it. However, romance will definitely be glittering for you as soon as Venus, planet of attraction, jolts into your love arena. Use the rest of the month to increase the passion in your life. Conquest a new partner if single or enchant your current one in a fairytale love story. You will be magnetic, so don’t miss your spotlight! However, your mind will definitely turn toward family or home matters as so much planetary action moves there later in the month. Some Sagittarius could be fixing up their homes or moving into new locations following the New Moon on the 23rd. Consider throwing a dinner party to warm up your space, as well. One last thing to note about this month, though, is that you are likely to see your expenses suddenly increase starting on the 16th. Mars will be powering through your money for many coming weeks. Handle the expenses as they arrive and try to save beforehand. Once this period ends in April, you will not have to deal with as much spending for nearly two years.

A

QUARIUS (January 20th - February 18th)

Birthday season is here and you are radiating like a star in the sky, Aquarius! This is the most vibrant and lovely time of the year for you. Be sure that you are launching all of your most personal and heartfelt goals during this time. Your heart’s wishes can be granted. Life is not about waiting. It is about building the life of your dreams. Your social life is likely to be very exciting for the first half of the month with Mars, planet of passion, heating up this sector. Many exhilarating events are likely to be packing your calendar. The fun should be around every corner. However, your attention turns to money and your resources at the end of the month as the Sun moves there on the 18th. Unfortunately, though, Mercury will retrograde in this sector starting on the 16th, meaning that you could miss some checks or have some hiccups with bills. Be sure to watch your bank statements so you aren’t being overcharged or scammed. The New Moon on the 23rd is encouraging you to build more wealth, so talk to your bosses about getting a raise or try to bring in more clients if freelance. Yet, with Mercury Retrograde taking place, it may be best to return to past jobs or contacts to begin a new chapter in your working relationship instead.

C

Horoscopes February 2020 APRICORN (December 22nd - January 19th)

Enter February with prosperity on your mind, Capricorn. Money only comes to those who crave more, so if you have not seen a new raise or job pop up, continue to keep pushing. A Full Moon on the 8th draws your attention to what you need from a partnership in business or love. If requiring financial aid or a loan, you could get approved at this time. In love, you may see that you are growing ever more close together and are ready to join more. However, if you are not on the same page and you or your partner feels that the relationship is unequal, you have an opportunity to rebalance it. Unfortunately, though, some relationships are just more hard work than they are worth and this may be the time when it “dies” and you break-up and move onto better horizons. Don’t worry, though, this weight will lift from your shoulders. The most exciting thing to note this month, though, is that Mars, planet of passion and drive, will enter your zodiac sign on the 16th for a several week stay. This will make you hypnotic and irresistible to nearly everyone that you meet. Your charisma and dominance will also increase at this time. Your physical strength and stamina will grow to new heights and healthy sexual intercourse will be as passionate as can be. Whatever you wish to tackle in the coming two years, you must go after now. This is not a time to hope the Universe draws things to you. This is the time when you have to charge forward and conquer what your heart desires. To end the month, a New Moon in your communications sector occurs on the 23rd, pushing you to write, speak, or market yourself in a new way. With Mercury Retrograde taking place in the last two weeks of the month, though, be sure not to sign any contracts or agree to anything you wish not to change later.

P

ISCES (February 19th - March 20th)

February will have quite a unique flair for you, Pisces, because of so much planetary action taking place in your zodiac sign. While the Sun at the beginning of the month is telling you to rest and recharge, Venus, planet of attraction, will be showering you in beauty and love for the first week of the month. Use this time to charm the world, seduce your current partner, or enchant someone new. This is also a fantastic time to enhance your own beauty so the world is in awe of you. However, Mercury Retrograde begins in your zodiac sign on the 16th for several weeks, promising plenty of hiccups, confusion, and headaches. Try not to stress and realize that the Universe is actually pulling you back because it appears you missed some vital information recently and you must now face it. As birthday season arrives mid-month and into March, you’ll certainly feel more energetic and lively, though, so begin to take steps toward building the life you want in the 2020s. Pull out your cosmic vision board because the New Moon on the 23rd will open doors to at least one of your most heartfelt desires. Last to note is that when Mars, planet of passion, enters your social sector on the 16th for many weeks, you will feel the need to head out and about and have some fun! Not only could you have a blast with all of your close friends, but you could also meet many fascinating and wonderful people who can help you reach your goals. Romance could also blossom with a friend if open to it or meeting someone through your network is also possible! All in all, February will be a lovely month for you, Pisces, so enjoy it all and don’t let trivial matters get you down.
