THE VILLAGE
You’ve heard the story, hopefully, behind the Amber Guyger Murder Trial. The former Dallas Police officer could face life in prison if convicted of murder for the shooting death of Botham Jean on September 6, 2018. The 12 jurors found Ms. Guyger guilty. Mr. Jean was home in his apartment, watching television and eating ice cream when Ms. Guyger entered his apartment and shot him, right through the heart; before realizing that she had entered the wrong apartment.
Pastor Frederick S. Haynes III delivered prayer, then took a knee while Tommye Young-West sang the Star Spangled Banner at the State Fair Classic featuring Grambling State and Prairie View A&M Universities in the Cotton Bowl. Madelyn Brene (l) sang the Negro National Anthem. PV won 42-36 Photo: Eva D. Coleman

According to Ms. Guyger, she thought she was entering her apartment on the 3rd floor in South Side Flats Apartments but instead she entered Mr. Jean’s apartment on the 4th floor. On Saturday, after one “expert” witness, Judge Tammy Kemp sent the Jury home and court ended for the day. Talk about See MY TRUTH, page 4

EDITOR’s NOTE: At press time, the jury came back with a guilty verdict. After a break, the punishment phase began with Mr. Jean’s mother talking about her son.
