CONCEPT The farmers on Lanyang Plain use to dedicated on the rice farming because of the sufďŹ cient rain drop. They also breed ducks in the farm to help get rid of pest. The feces from ducks can also fertilize the farm. However, the primitive and beautiful country landscape has been endangered by enormous investors from other big city like Taipei. Inspired by the current issue, farming process and landscape of Yilan, we would like to use the rolling rice seedlings which piled up beside the farms as a symbolism of new hope seedling in kid’s education and raising their attention about their homeland. Making use of the feature of rolling rice seedlings, our design allow children to transform the construction of the stool by their imaginations which may stand as stool or pave as platform. Parents could also lead their children to get familiar with their hometown by helping assembling those well-known landscape of Lanyang Plain.

CONCEPT

RESEARCH

Buffalo is a symbolism of country lifestyle in Asia. It symbolize the humble, simple and leisurely which also respond to the feeling of the texture and weight of cast iron. Hence, we combine these 2 elements to recreate the landscape in the country on the table. In the design process, we don’t want to outline the foot of buffalo, in order to retain the imagination space for users. When drinking water or tea from it, it will lead them to think of its source and grateful to hardworking farmers. They might also think of their childhood watching buffalo swimming in the farm.

Active Aging Elderly’s Guidance Service in Ecotourism ABSTRACT

BACKGROUND

We aims to explore the active aging ecotourism and guidance service experience under the service design framework. First, we started from semi-structured interviews to have basic understandings of elderly’s generally experience, needs and expectation in ecotourism. Second, we used affinity diagram to define factors that affect their experience in ecotourism which based on the former interviews. Then filter out typical subjects by the 5 main factors from affinity diagram and invite them to join co-design workshop. The division of active aging tourist in ecotourism are the passive, the elastic and the enthusiasm. Third, by using contextual inquiry, cultural probe, and empathy tools to observe and collect those typical elderly’s behaviors, experience and emotional reaction in guidance service in the workshop period. Then, using behavioral models to identify experience gaps in guidance service and the interactions between elderly, artifact and environment. After integrating insights from elderly and stakeholder’s perspective, we used experience map and service blueprint to have a holistic review on the guidance service.

Augmented Reality Marker with Affordance for Middle-aged Elderly ABSTRACT

RESEARCH

The Augmented Reality (AR) technologies can integrate computer-generated information elements into the real-world objects or markers, which can be viewed with cell phones easily. However, the user with poor understanding or fewer exp about AR especially elderly people, are unable to use markers to operate system efficiently.

What’s Augmented Reality (AR)?

Considering its affordance and universal design, the purpose of this study is to investigate the difference and preference of different feature design of AR marker when the middle-aged elderly and the young people use them to interact with interface. Furthermore, this study also asks participants to operate two mostly used functions on AR interface which are “Rotate Objects” and “Changing scale”, in order to have more understanding of their behaviors and cognition needs.

1.Variation of Virtual-reality (VR) It adds digital objects into the real environment to enhance real world’s visual experiment. (Asai, et al., 2010) 2.Three main characters about AR (1) connect virtual object with real environment, (2) achieve real time interaction, and (3) operate in the 3D environment (Azuma, 1997). 3.Types of AR Categorized by tracking technology according to “Pattern or Marker based AR”, “Marker less AR”, and “Geo-location based AR” (Ortman & Swedlund, 2012). 4.Operations of Marker-based AR

Feature Identify

The results show that if feature designs of AR marker including the elements from the elderly commonly used technology, such as cell phone or QR code, will arouse their experience to apply old knowledge and experience to new interface. This will help the elderly to acquire better user experience and higher technology acceptance.

Augmented Reality Marker with Affordance for Middle-aged Elderly

PURPOSE What will happen when Middle-aged people meet with new technology?

Aims of this study

They will base on former experience and using wrong gestures to interact with system. When system doesn’t give them feedback, they will feel anxious and disappointed (Clark, 2010).

This study investigates middle-aged elderly and young people in both feature and functional affordance of AR markers and behaviour in operating AR interface.

Ortman & Swedlund’s (2012) also mentioned that the relation between user and physical marker and the user perception of marker would have an impacts on the augmented experience.

Bottle & package design for Soapberry products BACKGROUND It all come with arbitrary in order to get rid of the bored before serving my 1 year military duty. Hence, I had persuaded my friend to build a team to face the challenge that we never deal with which is the package design.

ITEM 1 - 芯生 Inspired by the extraction process of Chinese Soapberry liquid and the nut itself. We used the double layered structure to symbolize the shape and texture of Chinese Soapberry. We also put a real dry-out Chinese Soapberry nut in the bottom of the bottle which will create beautiful reflection between liquid and bottle. In order to enhanced the experience of the spirit of the brand.

Although we had lost a while at the beginning, but we all agree we should stick to the spirit of this brand. Hence we were inspired by the making process of Chinese Soapberry liquid and the gifting behavior between people. Unexpectedly, we had accomplished great results after the contest.

USER EXPERIENCE THINKING

ITEM 3 - 禮樹 We would like to refind the primitive value of the gift box in this concept.

Ø30 mm

We use to transmit our emotion to the faraway people by sending them a gift. However, we can’t directly feel these emotion nowadays due to overpackaging. Hence, we want to create more value between receiver and giver. This design allow user to use the attached Chinese berry stick to build a symbolized tree which can also create fragrant when taking down those round part from the outside box. In this way, the life of this product and the emotion between people can now be extended.

STL project for Huwei train station BRIEF

FIELD RESEARCH

Due to the unbalance urban and rural development strategy in Taiwan, the Yunlin County has been regarded as a city of mainly doing agriculture. The Huwei town city has been a major city since the Japanese occupation because of the making of cane sugars. However the past glorious and rich cultural heritages were not being attention by local people, they were looking forward the modernization. Hence, there have some cultural heritages were keeping endangered and destroyed by the homeless people or developers. The goal of my team was to arouse peoples’ attention about the rich cultural heritages by focusing on the history of sugar development. We have designed some experience activities and facilities for people to connect with the history easily and with fun. Due to the project time, we only choose 3 major spots to demonstrate the possibility of the experience loop about sugar history.
