“In order to design buildings with a sensuous connection to life, one must think in a way that goes far beyond form and construction. Peter Zumthor

“vision” is a double edged sword. It leads us to understanding of our environment, while suppressing all our other sense: hearing, scent, touch and taste. To fully develop full sensory “antennas” , this studio purposely denies students “vision” in the beginning, thus challenging them to “see” in other ways. To see is to understand. To see in new ways is to understanding in new ways. This is the aim of this experimental studio.

Site 1: Protrudes towards the entrance with minimum interference to the p e d e s t r i ans. Situated on top of a 3-floored-building, extends to ground level. Functions as information center Site 2: Design is based on the shape and direction of the stairs, in which on top reconstruction is done. Balcony serves as view site; Interior space as photograph exhibition hall
By creating three parasitic constructions mainly on top each building, extending both upwards and downwards, the attempt was to give reinforce the needs as well as giving unity to the whole area.
Site 3: Located on a 2-flooredbuilding, the main intention is to offer a place with close view of sellers and customers of the streets. Rather low windows, dark interior space, back window projecting natural light towards front window induce people to pay attention to what is happening outside.
