First, you’ll study the concepts necessary to support private and ensemble training by learning to identify, notate and sing intervals, scales and key signatures and apply them in music settings. Together, we’ll analyze musical concepts by examining different areas of classical, jazz and popular music. Musical Styles from the Medieval Times to Today (11:00 - 11:50 AM) Music history is an essential piece of a thorough music education, and here we’ll take a journey looking at the past major styles of music. We’ll travel back in time from medieval music to contemporary jazz through interactive presentations and listening examples. Global Music Ensemble (12:00 - 12:50 AM) Here you’ll explore the music of other cultures as a performing ensemble as well as in a traditional classroom setting. From the sounds of the South American rainforest to the village music of the Baltics, you will build stylistic familiarity from other places around the world.
