THRESHOLDS CENTER FOR MENTAL

WELLBEING - SOUTH HOLDS RIBBON CUTTING FOR EXPANDED MENTAL HEALTH CARE SERVICES

Organization will bring more accessible mental health services to Chicago’s south side; will help remove barriers to necessary care Chicago, Ill. -- Thresholds, one of the largest mental health and substance use treatment providers in Chicago, held an official ribbon cutting and open house at its Center for Mental Wellbeing - South (Center) to announce the expansion of the Center’s accessible, person-centered, evidence-based, individualized care for community members and celebrate the new building expansion. In 2023, the Center received a grant to become a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), allowing them to offer expanded mental health care services, and making them one of just 19 clinics with the same designation in Illinois.

“We’re thrilled to be able to open the doors on the Thresholds expansion on the South Side, and we’re so thankful to our incredible staff, our inspiring and resilient members and our partners and donors who help make this work possible,” said Thresholds President and CEO Mark Ishaug. “There’s a need throughout the city, but especially here on the South Side, for comprehensive and accessible care. Thresholds is dedicated to ensuring that everyone, regardless of their income, housing or insurance status is able to receive the support they need to live fulfilling lives.”

Through the CCBHC designation and funding, the Center will now offer the following expanded services:

Individual and group therapy

Psychiatry

Medication Management

Substance Use Treatment

Care Coordination and Case Management Crisis Services and Intervention

Psychosocial Rehabilitation

Peer Support Services

Primary Care Integration

The CCBHC model prioritizes coordinated, comprehensive health care and ensures person-centered treatment. Participants in the program provide outpatient mental health, substance abuse disorder and primary care screening services for individuals regardless of age, residency or ability to pay.

Thresholds currently has three other CCBHCs open in Illinois, including locations in Kankakee, McHenry and in Ravenswood on Chicago’s North Side. These clinics ensure access to crisis care at all hours, coordination with hospitals, law enforcement and schools, plus access to high-quality services including medication-assisted treatment (MAT) to help stop the overdose crisis.

CONGRESSMAN DANNY K. DAVIS

HIGHLIGHTS KEY ISSUES ON MILWAUKEE RADIO SHOW AS SURROGATE FOR VP KAMALA HARRIS AND GOVERNOR TIM WALZ

Chicago, IL – Congressman Danny K. Davis (IL-07) appeared on Milwaukee’s WNOV 860 AM, serving as a surrogate for Vice President Kamala Harris and Governor Tim Walz. During his live interview on the “Community Voice” radio show hosted by Keith Parris, Congressman Davis emphasized the importance of the upcoming election. He highlighted the stark differences between the Harris-Walz campaign and Donald Trump’s Project 2025 agenda.

Davis focused on Vice President Harris’ vision for a “New Way Forward,” which centers on expanding opportunities for all Americans, particularly the middle class and working families. He also addressed the risks of unchecked power that Donald Trump’s Project 2025 would bring, calling out Trump’s dangerous policies that prioritize billionaires and corporations over working people.

Davis also spoke about the Harris-Walz campaign’s robust efforts to engage Black voters, particularly in Wisconsin. He noted that the Democratic campaign infrastructure in the state has never been stronger, with over 50 offices in key areas and more than 250 fulltime staffers on the ground working to reach voters in both red and blue counties.

NAFSI 1916 Uses Food To Revitalize The South Shore Community

Continued from page 1

He has always loved the idea of recreating community ecosystems. Born and raised on the South Side, he has been a real estate professional for 20 years.

“I’ve always felt a certain kind of way when I saw our corridors and major thoroughfares being dilapidated with vacant and decayed buildings. As much as I could, I always wanted to buy buildings in our community and recreate our corridor,” Digby said. When he saw the Request for Proposals (RFP) for the space within the South Shore Cultural Center, he had to apply for the opportunity. He won the concessionary contract three years ago. NAFSI 1916 has been open for a month.

Digby hired Cecilia Cuff, co-owner of Bronzeville Winery and CEO of Nascent Group, to build the restaurant space. He said the space is a complement to the South Shore Cultural Center.

“NAFSI 1916 is a testament to the City of Chicago’s commitment to building small businesses on the South and West Sides,” Cuff said in a statement. “For me, this restaurant is an especially important development and design project all about reclamation and unapologetic inclusivity. Where our African American community was not allowed until the late 1970s, the restaurant will now celebrate Black culture and cuisine. We also estimate that NAFSI will create more than 35 local jobs and attract more than 100,000 guests to the South Shore community in the first year.”

from presentation to palate exploration, yet still being approachable for the community.

With the menu, Robinson is incorporating the things that make people feel good with soul food. Growing up, he loved chicken thighs. His mother always smothered chicken thighs. On the menu, there is a deconstructed smothered chicken, with pan seared chicken thighs, herb wild brown rice and a French cream sauce.

“It’s bringing those concepts, how we can have classics and change it up a little bit,” Robinson said.

Another item on the menu is the fried green tomato Caprese. One of the stars of the dessert menu is the Bananas Foster Bread Pudding, made with Uncle Nearest. For Robinson and his personal culinary journey, being the Executive Chef at NAFSI 1916 is an amazing experience and a great opportunity. He said, anytime he can get people to sit at the table and smile from the food he and the team in the kitchen are creating, it is wonderful for him.

Robinson said he found his soul was in the kitchen. He credited his mentors, Chefs Erick Williams and Damar Brown from Virtue, Chef Lamar Moore, Chef Christian Hunter, with helping shape his culinary career and him as a man. Robinson also wants to mentor and train children and young people in the culinary arts, from the business side to the cooking side. He wants to be able to be a way path for young Black people in the culinary industry. Digby wants people in the community who come into the restaurant to feel welcomed.

Digby said he wanted to create a really dope space for the community with really good food. He gave Executive Chef Dondee Robinson carte blanche to create a menu that they both felt was necessary for the community.

NAFSI 1916 is powered by the team behind Bronzeville Winery and Robinson was the sous chef at the winery. He earned his chops at the winery and Cuff thought he would be a good fit for NAFSI 1916. Digby spent a year doing chef tastings and for the idea that he wanted, none of them really worked. When Robinson did his tasting, Digby knew he was the right fit for the concept. Robinson came up with the concept for the menu that spoke to the community with elevated soul food. He said while you can get fried chicken, greens, but he wanted to put the fine dining feeling to it, for South Shore. NAFSI means soul, and Robinson and Digby wanted to explore how to elevate soul food to the next level,

“I’m a community guy, I love where I come from. I want people to come around and have a great feeling of pride when they come here. The food is phenomenal, it’s a great vibe and my mother comes here three times a week,” Digby said. He added that she has tasted everything on the menu and liked everything she has tried. One menu item she loves is the 14-oz. pork chop. Digby said that south of 57th street, there aren’t any dine-in eateries on the south side. He was told that $29 million leaves South Shore because people in the community go elsewhere to patronize sit-down restaurants. He believes with NASFI 1916, those dollars can be recovered and stay in the community.

“I think we fit a need; I think we’re filling a gap. Upscale fine dining in our community, we deserve it. I don’t want to go to North Ave., I don’t want to go to Division. I want to come five minutes from my house, have a good dining experience, then go home,” Digby said.

NBA Foundation, Chicago Beyond, and Chicago Bulls Announce Grant Recipients

CHICAGO -- National philanthropic organization Chicago Beyond, in partnership with the NBA Foundation and the Chicago Bulls, announced the continuation of a $1 million collaboration to support Black-led nonprofit organizations that are creating opportunities for Black youth and communities in Chicago. The initiative marks the expansion of the NBA Foundation’s first-ever collaborative grant to deploy resources and reach more organizations at the local level, leveraging Chicago Beyond’s expertise and trust-based philanthropic model, as well as the Chicago Bulls’ long-standing commitment to addressing critical issues in the city.

The NBA Foundation, Chicago Beyond, and the Chicago Bulls have jointly contributed a total of $1 million to reach hyperlocal organizations that offer transformative solutions based on a deep understanding of community needs, making this truly a Chicago-specific initiative. The partnership employs an equitable, trust-based grantmaking approach designed to accelerate impact through streamlined processes and flexible resources, minimizing red tape for grant partners. Grant recipients will be able to use the funding to prioritize initiatives they believe will have the most significant impact on their communities, efficiently stewarding resources for meaningful social change. This approach has proven to have a transformational impact on nonprofit leaders, enabling them to efficiently steward resources.

The cohort of grantees includes six organizations taking di-

verse approaches to serve Black youth and community members in Chicago:

The BLOC Chicago, cultivating the love of boxing to share transformational resources and opportunities to Chicago’s West Side youth;

Common Ground Foundation, empowering youth from high-potential communities to become future leaders; Dion’s Chicago Dream, identifying and combating food insecurity throughout the Chicagoland area, using nutritional philanthropy as a catalyst to build community and transform lives; Firehouse Community Arts Center of Chicago, interrupting the cycle of violence among youth and young adults in North Lawndale through the power of the arts; Focus Fairies Mentoring, uplifting and supporting Black and brown young women and girls aged 7-21 living on Chicago’s West and South sides who have been affected by trauma and violence; and Hood Heroes, employing, empowering, and equipping youth to do great work in Chicago and wherever they may grow to in life. Despite an increase in nationwide philanthropic funding toward Black communities in 2020, the overall percentage remains alarmingly low—typically ranging from 2% to 12%. Recognizing that this historic spike has since been steadily decreasing, this

Latest Chicago Public Schools Data Show

CHICAGO – Chicago Public Schools (CPS) released its enrollment figures for the 20th day of the 2024-25 school year. The data shows another year of increased enrollment in the District along with climbing attendance rates across all grades. Student enrollment data is now available on the District’s website as well as a new dashboard that shows exponential progress in staffing across CPS to best serve growing student needs and enrollment.

“The increase in school-based staff across the District reflects our commitment to providing Chicago’s young people with a world-class learning environment,” said CPS CEO Pedro Martinez. “This data reflects our District’s success over the past couple years to transform our approach to education and ensure our students have the support they need as our enrollment and attendance rates rise.”

20TH DAY ENROLLMENT DATA

The 20th day enrollment figures, found on the District’s Demographics

website page, show that there are 325,305 students enrolled, which is a 0.64 percent increase compared to the previous year, with 2,054 more students. The majority of the increase comes from the 1st through 5th grade population. Enrollment has increased for almost all racial and ethnic groups except for Black students. The largest increase was seen among Latine/x students. This positive trend follows the 2023-24 school year when enrollment numbers began to rise.

In another positive development for the District’s academic recovery, attendance rates for the first four weeks of school have increased across almost all grade levels and among all racial and ethnic groups. The rates have slightly increased among priority groups, including economically disadvantaged students, English learners, students with disabilities, and students in temporary living situations, with an average 20th day PreK-12 student attendance rate of 92.3 percent, up from 92 percent last year and 91.7 percent the year before.

School Staffing

career opportunities and professional pipelines. The District supports both career changers as well as CPS students who are interested in returning to the District as teachers.

The CPS Teacher Residency, launched in 2017, is a full-time, paid, teacher training program that offers a pathway to teaching for professionals who wish to pursue a new career in education as well as paraprofessionals who work in classroom support roles and want to become full-time teachers leading a classroom. To date, the program has led to more than 1,000 new teachers, 70 percent of whom are Black or Latine/x.

Teach Chicago Tomorrow, established in 2020, provides a student-to-teacher pathway that connects CPS students with academic and financial support to achieve their dreams of becoming educators. In 2024, the program successfully welcomed more than 100 recent CPS graduates into teacher preparation programs across Chicago and Illinois.

Living With Alzheimer’s You Are Not Alone

Receiving a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s or another form of dementia can feel overwhelming, but you are not alone. Every year, millions of individuals face this diagnosis, and while it may seem daunting, there are people who understand what you’re going through and are ready to help. There are also steps you can take in the early stages to better cope with the changes ahead. By staying informed and taking care of your well-being, you can navigate this journey with greater resilience and support.

NEW STAFFING DASHBOARD

At the same time, in a dashboard unveiled today, CPS staffing numbers reveal that there are now more licensed educators in front of students than ever before. Between 2019 and 2024, CPS hired more than 2,600 teachers and more than 4,000 paraprofessionals, as well as staff members, resulting in nearly 7,000 additional school-based staff. Over the same five-year period, the increased staffing led to a decrease in the average student-to-teacher ratio in schools from 14:1 to 12:1, allowing teachers to better support learning by giving more time and attention to fewer students.

“We are constantly working to find new and innovative ways to increase the pipeline of talented and qualified educators and staff,” said Chief Talent Officer Ben Felton. “The latest school staffing numbers tell us that our investments are paying off and we are headed in the right direction.”

Recruitment and retention efforts are taking place with a sharp focus on ensuring staff diversity. District officials recognize the importance of having teachers who look like the students they serve, that understand and represent CPS students. The percentage of new teachers who are either Black or Latine/x has jumped from 33 percent in 2017 to 49 percent in 2024.

Understanding your diagnosis is a critical first step in managing the changes ahead. Learning more about Alzheimer’s disease, the progression of symptoms, and the available resources can empower you and your loved ones to plan for the future. The Alzheimer’s Association provides valuable information on everything from medical facts to practical tips, ensuring that you and your family can make informed decisions about your care and lifestyle. It’s natural to feel a range of emotions—shock, fear, sadness, or even anger—after receiving an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. The emotional impact can be significant, but there are ways to manage it. Many individuals find it helpful to seek counseling, support groups, or talk with others who are facing similar challenges. The Alzheimer’s Association offers guidance to help you come to terms with your diagnosis and offers coping strategies to maintain emotional wellbeing.

Deciding when and how to share your diagnosis with others can be a deeply personal choice. Many people living with Alzheimer’s have found that openly discussing their diagnosis with family, friends, and colleagues can create a network of support. While it may be difficult, being transparent about your condition can help others understand what you’re going through and how they can assist. Those who have faced this journey suggest starting with those closest to you and gradually expanding the conversation when you’re ready.

Analysis of the staff data shows that 83 percent of CPS schools have experienced increases in staffing since 2019. For schools with steady or decreasing staff numbers, this is likely due to a significant decline in overall student enrollment and/ or changes in programming that cater to special student populations such as English Learners, students with disabilities, or preschoolers. Notably, the dashboard indicates that even in schools that lost staff positions, the student-teacher ratio decreased.

INVESTMENTS IN RECRUITMENT AND RETENTION

The significant progress in staffing is due to CPS’ recent, unprecedented investment in talent and recruitment, including innovative programs that offer unique

There also has been a concerted effort to bolster the District’s bilingual educators. In recent years, CPS has partnered with local universities and colleges to offer reduced tuition rates to teachers earning their English as a Second Language (ESL) and bilingual endorsements. As a result, the number of CPS educators who have ESL or bilingual endorsements has climbed, jumping from 5,700 in 2019 to 7,700 in 2024.

“Our recruitment, hiring and retention efforts have been remarkable to date,” said Chief Education Officer Bogdana Chkoumbova. “That said, we know we have areas that need improvement and this data dashboard aims to showcase our staffing progress to date and our commitment to continue serving our students with talented teachers and staff.”

An Alzheimer’s diagnosis can also bring shifts in your relationships with family, friends, and colleagues. Some people may not fully understand your condition or may struggle with how to interact with you. This can be challenging, but many find that open communication helps. Letting your loved ones know how they can support you—and being patient with their learning process—can strengthen your relationships during this time.

Self-care is crucial when living with Alzheimer’s. This means tending to your physical, emotional, social, and spiritual wellbeing. Staying active, engaging in hobbies, maintaining social connections, and continuing to participate in activities you enjoy can all contribute to a higher quality of life. The Alzheimer’s Association offers tips and tools to help you maintain a sense of purpose and joy while living with the disease.

Stress can take a toll on your health and quality of life, especially after an Alzheimer’s diagnosis. Taking steps to reduce stress—such as practicing mindfulness, engaging in physical activity, or participating in support groups—can improve your overall well-being. Finding ways to relax and manage stress will be key to maintaining balance as you face the challenges ahead.

Daily life may become more complex as the disease progresses, but there are strategies that can help. Establishing routines, using memory aids, and adapting your living environment can help you manage day-to-day tasks more easily. These coping strategies will allow you to maintain a sense of independence and control over your life for as long as possible.

As your family and friends adjust to your diagnosis, they may need guidance on how to best support you. You can help them by being open about your needs and preferences. The Alzheimer’s Association offers resources specifically designed to help your loved ones understand the disease and how they can be there for you during this time.

partnership reaffirms the NBA Foundation, Chicago Beyond, and the Chicago Bulls’ unwavering commitment to centering and uplifting Black youth and communities in Chicago. By promoting racial equity in philanthropy and championing flexible grants for lesser-known nonprofits, the organizations aim to inspire others nationwide to embrace more generous and inclusive giving practices.

This partnership also represents a continuation of the essential role the Chicago Bulls play in supporting under-resourced Chicagoans. Using the power of basketball,

the Bulls strive to go beyond just providing financial support by investing more holistically in the community and its leaders.

Each grantee as part of this initiative has been reviewed by the NBA Foundation, Chicago Beyond, and the Chicago Bulls, with a focus on centering the voices and needs of the community. This cohort of grantees expands upon earlier investments in True Star Media, ChiFresh Kitchen, The Evolved Network, and I AM CHI Foundation. DSU first HBCU to launch private merchandise label

(Black PR Wire) DSU’s private label will provide an expanded opportunity to control the design, quality, and variety of products that students, faculty, staff, alumni, and the community wear and purchase. The brand inventory will include various types of limited-edition merchandise that will only be available directly from the University, and 5 percent of the sales will support student success by funding scholarships.

Everything Collegiate, owned and operated by Terance Harmon for over 20 years, holds more than 85 brand licenses for colleges, societies, and fraternities. As a primary vendor to over 60 colleges, including 39 HBCUs, it provides thousands of custom collegiate products including apparel, shoes, and giveaway items.

“This partnership marks a significant milestone in our journey,” said Harmon. “Our goal has always been to support and uplift HBCUs, and working with DSU has been a fulfilling step in that direction. I am excited to work with DSU on this historic move.”

DSU initially partnered with Everything Collegiate on a launch of merchandise last year at the time of the University’s branding update.

“Thanks to our team, the designs were met with an overwhelmingly positive response,” said Dr. Dawn Mosley, Senior Associate Vice President of Marketing and Communications. “Our students, faculty, staff,

and alumni were thrilled with the new products and kept asking for more. The key difference was that we had control over the design process, working closely to ensure it resonated with our brand and audience. It made perfect sense, as we best know what our audience wants.”

The partnership will begin with a select choice of merchandise for which Everything Collegiate will manage the distribution while continuing to assist DSU in growing its private brand inventory in additional retail spaces and online. This will allow the University’s products to reach a wider audience

while maintaining high standards of quality and authenticity.

“We’re no longer restricted to buying premade or mass-produced products that follow a standard design with our logo incorporated within,” Dr. Mosley said. “That’s not true ownership. We must protect what has taken over a century to build.”

However, existing relationships with retailers will continue to be a valuable resource for students and the campus community to purchase everyday branded items.

“We are not competing with our campus stores or partners who sell merchandise with our brand. We value their contributions and the royalties they generate,” Dr. Mosley said. “It’s simply smart business to establish our own revenue stream from custom products. This also creates an exciting opportunity for our students and alumni to share their unique design ideas, which can further support scholarships for our students.”

The first round of student scholarships from initial product sales will be awarded in spring 2025. Moving forward, new-arrival merchandise will now feature the Hornets (tm) private-label branding. For early sales, click here or visit https://hbcudsu. com.

With an eye for detail, Berite also had the bar manager of the Ritz, Romain de Courcy, create a cocktail with floral notes.

Fostering a spirit of friendliness, elegance, and celebration, the evening, animated by the duo Doppelgänger, allowed guests to engage with Berite Labelle about her new haute perfumery brand, as well as her activities as a model and international influencer.

I HATE UNIVERSAL LIFE & TERM INSURANCE AND YOU SHOULD TOO!

Any time a person pays their premiums for 10, 20 and 30 years. Only to have their premiums go up or the coverage run out, shame on that agent.

97% of all term policies never pay out a claim. This is due to most people letting their policies lapse, the companies know the policy is going to lapse. Google the statistics for yourself.

What people don’t understand about universal life is that the payment goes up every year. But you’re paying the same amount, then 10, 20 years later your policy lapses. You never hear from that agent, or he or she is out of the business.

Equal Hope addresses barriers women of color face when it comes to screening and treating cancer including lack of transportation to medical centers, lack of insurance, work schedule conflicts, lack of childcare, concerns ignored by physicians and the lack of consistent quality care depending on where patients go for care.

Breast Cancer rates nationwide are disproportionately higher among Black, brown and other women of color in underserved and unserved communities. In Chicago , t he communities with the highest mortality rates are located on the South and West s ides of the city. These communities are predominantly African American and Latino.

In 2023, Equal Hope’s outreach efforts reached more than 475,844 individuals, nearly 20% of Chicago’s population. Initiatives included distributing more than 106,320 flyers throughout Cook and Lake counties, providing more than 513 rides to health screenings, scheduling 3,117 appointments, and establishing primary care for 322 individuals.

Learn How Reverse Mortgages Can Affect Estate Planning

Reverse mortgages are one of the most misunderstood financial tools directed to the elderly. It is my intent to help dissuade the negative opinion that people hold towards reverse mortgages. Too often disdain is based on myths and hearsay, not fact.

Here is a fact, a reverse mortgage is a financial tool, but it is not the right tool for every financial situation. When considering a reverse mortgage

There should be a planned outcome.

Here are some outcomes of getting a reverse mortgage:

-to lower monthly expenses.

-receiving tax free income from home equity.

-it allows a person to age at home

The myths that prevail are as follow:

-the ownership of homes is immediately transferred to the government

-a reverse mortgage NEVER has to be re-paid.

Elders, prior to receiving a reverse mortgage, must attend a training class. The training is to explain how a reverse mortgage works. However, it has been my experience that, even with the training, too often elders do not fully understand the terms of their reverse mortgage and how it affects their families.

In future columns, I will share scenarios of elders with reverse mortgages and what impact this may have on their estate plans.

Bye for now,

Bren.

Diabetes and Your Feet, What You Need to Know

(StatePoint) Foot ulcers develop in about 15% of the 25 million Americans living with diabetes and are a top cause of hospitalization. These ulcers can lead to serious complications, such as infection and amputation. According to foot and ankle surgeons, there are steps you can take to prevent complications and keep your feet healthy, as well as breakthrough treatments that are saving limbs, restoring mobility and improving lives.

“The majority of lower-extremity amputations are preceded by a reoccurring foot sore or an ulcer that won’t heal,” says John S. Steinberg, DPM, FACFAS, a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon and a Fellow Member and Past President of the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS). “Patients do best when they take charge of their foot health with the help of a foot and ankle surgeon.”

The surgeon members of ACFAS are sharing some important insights into preventing foot ulcers associated with diabetes and treating them if they do occur.

Make these precautions part of your foot care routine:

• Inspect feet daily using a flashlight and mirror to see the bottoms of your feet.

• Moisturize dry, cracking feet to prevent sores. Use powder to control moisture that can result in blisters.

• To prevent injury, wear protective, well-fitting shoes and socks at all times, even in the house.

Change socks daily and more often if your feet get wet or sweaty. Avoid socks with holes or seams. Sometimes diabetic shoes are prescribed to avoid pressure and rubbing on the feet.

• Get regular foot exams from a foot and ankle surgeon, which can reduce amputation risk by 4585%. The surgeon can also screen feet for loss of protective sensation.

PHOTO SOURCE: (c) Siarhei Khaletski / iStock via Getty Images Plus

• Manage your diabetes. Out-of-control blood sugar levels can lead to nerve cell damage, making it harder to detect foot problems.

Look for telltale signs that an ulcer may be developing:

• Swelling. The foot or ankle may look puffy or engorged and larger than the other.

• Temperature. Cold feet might mean a circulatory issue, whereas hot feet might mean infection.

• Color changes. Redness and even other colors might appear before an ulcer forms.

• Calluses. If a callus changes colors or develops dark, “dried blood” colored spots, it may be time to have a foot and ankle surgeon offer a proper diagnosis.

Ask your foot and ankle surgeon about innovative treatments:

If you do experience a non-healing ulcer, talk to your foot and ankle surgeon right away about

innovative technologies that stimulate healing. Groundbreaking approaches include stem cell therapy, the use of bioengineered skin substitutes to accelerate growth of healthy skin, and negative pressure wound therapy (NPWT) to promote healing and enable healthy, new tissue to grow. Today, foot and ankle surgeons rarely do a skin graft without NPWT. Skin grafting for foot ulcers has also advanced. Surgeons now use advanced reconstructive surgery and grafting techniques to promote wound healing and decrease wound recurrence.

The success rate of these advanced therapies is high, providing substantial improvement over treatments of the not-too-distant past, when doctors would clean and bandage the wound and hope for the best.

“Thanks to the many advances in diabetic foot care, patients today are having simpler surgeries, avoiding amputations, and getting back to everyday life sooner than ever before,” says Dr. Steinberg.
