CITY OF CHICAGO LAUNCHES SMART STREETS PILOT PROGRAM TO MODERNIZE TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM USING CAMERA TECHNOLOGY

New pilot program uses camera technology to enforce illegal parking in bus and bike lanes downtown

CHICAGO— The City of Chicago Department of Transportation (CDOT) and the Department of Finance (DOF) announced the launch of the Smart Streets Pilot program, an initiative using camera technology to enhance enforcement of parking and standing violations in bus and bike lanes. This pilot program aims to modernize the current system to protect vulnerable road users who are walking, biking and using transit while improving transit operations.

Starting November 4, the City began a 30-day warning period, during which registered vehicle owners will receive mailed warnings for infractions like parking in bike and bus lanes. Beginning on December 5, drivers will receive a warning notice for the first offense, with subsequent violations resulting in fines. In the near future, the program will also enforce violations of metered parking, ticketing vehicles that have not paid the parking meter.

Low-income drivers will continue to be eligible for vehicle-related debt relief through the Clear Path Relief Program.

The pilot will operate within the area from Lake Michigan to Ashland Avenue, and from North Avenue to Roosevelt Road. It will run for two years from the date the first citation is issued. Before the pilot concludes, CDOT and DOF will provide a summary report to City Council, evaluating the effectiveness of automated enforcement, fee collection technologies and operational practices in improving parking compliance and enhancing traffic safety across all modes of transportation.

The pilot will initially include eight City vehicles equipped with cameras to enforce parking violations. In 2025, the Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) will install equipment on up to six CTA buses on priority routes to further support the program’s goals of improving transit efficiency and safety. Currently, the CTA’s procurement process is underway.

The Smart Streets Pilot Program aims to protect our residents by addressing the danger of illegal parking and standing behavior for all road users, especially pedestrians and cyclists. Parking in bus-only lanes slows down buses, increases wait times for passengers, and disrupt traffic flow by forcing buses to merge in and out of traffic. By keeping bus lanes clear, we are enhancing the efficiency of Chicago’s growing bus priority network, reducing congestion and improving the experience for CTA riders, particularly those with disabilities who face challenges when buses cannot access the curb due to parked cars.

Former Athlete and Lung Cancer Advocate Talks About Lung Cancer Screening

Continued from page 1

In early November, Chris Draft, Founder, President and CEO, of the Chris Draft Family Foundation was travelling across Illinois speaking about the importance of getting screened for lung cancer. Draft, who is a lung cancer advocate lost his wife, Keasha, to lung cancer in 2011. Draft said before his wife passed, she asked their family and friends to support the foundation, which fights for the lung cancer community.

“Team Draft was added in terms of lung cancer work that was really spearheaded by my wife, recognizing that it would take a team of people to transform this community, a team that was already there,” he said. He added that the foundation was bringing its resources, with him as a former NFL player. and figuring out how to bring the resources to lift and empower the community, so that more people could benefit from the change that was happening.

Draft said that it is critically important for people to get screened for lung cancer when they are eligible to get screened.

According to the American Lung Association, if a person is between the ages of 50 years to 80 years (50 to 77 for Medicare), have a 20 pack-year history of smoking -meaning one pack a day for 20 years, two packs a day for 10 years -- and currently smoke or have quit within the last 15 years, they are considered to be at “high risk” for developing lung cancer and screening is recommended.

fit from it, we want to encourage all of them to get it done,” he said.

Draft said he also wants to find out what might be holding people back from getting screened for lung cancer and let them know that screenings should be done. He said he knows that it might be scary to screen because they might find something, but he said, it might be even scarier if they find it late. He said finding it early gives people the best chance to survive.

Draft said he wants to get rid of the stigma of lung cancer where people blame smokers who get diagnosed with the disease. He wants people not to blame smokers because the nicotine addiction can be just as harsh as with any other illicit drugs. He said people need to rally around smokers, those who quit and those who are trying to quit.

“We need to rally around our people and make sure there are nodule clinics, we need to rally around people and make sure they get appropriate care, we need to rally around people and make sure they have access to clinical trials,” he said. He added that as people go through their lung cancer journey, they should not have to be part of the health system to understand their diagnosis and treatment. They should be met with and treated with love and have the information they need.

Draft said he has received feedback from people who are grateful for the work the Chris Draft Family Foundation does. He said that if people want things to change, there needs to be an intention around caring for everyone. He said there is hope and things are changing.

“We’ve seen it in breast cancer, we know that when people are able to find their cancer at an early stage, that the survival rates go up dramatically. So, anybody who can bene-

Intergenerational exchange brings joy to seniors for Pumpkin Day

Junior High students from O.W. Huth Middle School in Matteson decorate pumpkins for seniors at local senior center and participate in an exercise class.

The National Junior Honor Society of O.W. Huth Middle School in Matteson decorated pumpkins to donate to seniors at the Shirley J. Green Township Senior Center in Park Forest and delivered the pumpkins at the end of October. The students also participated in an exercise class with the seniors.

This is the third year that students have decorated pumpkins for seniors. National Pumpkin Day, a day to celebrate pumpkins, a beloved symbol of the fall, was Saturday, October 26. At Matteson School District 162, the six elementary schools celebrated Pumpkin Day with pumpkin patches at each school along with activities.

Instead of having a pumpkin patch, the older students at Huth decided to bring the joy of Pumpkin Day to seniors in the community.

“It gives our students a chance to not only be a part of Pumpkin Day but to participate in community service,” said Brenda Calvin, Huth’s principal. “And it brings the joy of Pumpkin Day to seniors in our community.”

Student council and National Junior Honor Society students had fun painting the pumpkins for the seniors, Calvin said. And the students said the best part of the day was interacting with the seniors.

“It was really fun,” said Aalisha Shah, 12, a Huth eighth grader. “”I thought people were going to be grumpy but they

were joyful and it was actually really fun.”

The exercise part was also harder than expected, said 13-year-old Nosa Salami.

“It was harder than I expected,” said Salami who was encouraged during the class by Velva O’Connor who was sitting next to him.

“I loved it,” O’Connor said. “We were inspiring to them. I enjoyed it to the max.”

Nali Catalan, 13, the president of the Huth NJHS, said that younger students can learn a lot from their elders.

“I think all generations have a lot to learn from the other generations,” Catalan said. “The life experience that elderly people have can be shared with younger people.”

Seniors said the exchange does something for them and the students.

“This event was very nice not only for the seniors but also for the students,” said Ann Baker, who participated in the exercise class. “Hopefully it gives them greater insight into what an older person goes through.”

After the exercise class, seniors were able to pick one of the pumpkins that the students painted.

Mayme Buckley, Director of Senior Services for Rich Township, said the exchange has been a wonderful experience for the seniors who really enjoy the students’ creative designs on the pumpkins.

“It brings a lot of joy and adds to the senior experience here,” Buckley said.

GOVERNMENT ALLIANCE FOR SAFE COMMUNITIES ANNOUNCES $100 MILLION IN GRANT OPPORTUNITIES

CHICAGO— The Government Alliance for Safe Communities (GASC) today announced a commitment to invest $100 million across City, County, and State government partners to sustain and scale critical community violence intervention (CVI) programming across the region.

Comprised of leadership and key representatives from funding agencies at the State, County and City, GASC was formed in 2021 to strengthen the community safety ecosystem in the greater Chicago region.

“This unprecedented intergovernmental collaboration is bringing targeted resources and deep support to our communities,” said Lanetta Haynes Turner, Chief of Staff for Cook County President Toni Preckwinkle. “We’re proud to work together to bring these grant opportunities to organizations making an impact in community violence intervention.”

The 2025 GASC funding initiative

includes two grant opportunities for programmatic CVI funding totaling approximately $57 million, with additional funding opportunities to follow. These grant opportunities are available through the Reimagine Violence Prevention Services Program, sponsored by the Illinois Department of Human Services, and the Lead Organization for Expanding Capacity for Community Violence Interventions - Street Outreach Services sponsored by the City of Chicago.

The funding initiative also includes a $2.5 million funding opportunity for establishing a first-of-its-kind centralized Capacity Building Network for Community Safety sponsored by the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority to support community-based organizations serving the most vulnerable communities and those at highest risk for gun violence.

All funding opportunities are listed on the GASC website at ILGovAlliance.org and on each agencies’ websites.

in the network will strengthen their capacity to deliver CVI services, allowing them to provide violence interruption services more effectively in their respective communities. This community-led initiative is driven by a shared commitment to address longstanding issues of disinvestment, foster healing within our neighborhoods, and ensure the safety of all Chicagoans.

“Violence is one of the top three drivers of the racial life expectancy gap for Black Chicagoans,” said CDPH Commissioner Olusimbo ‘Simbo’ Ige. “It is critical that together, through ongoing partnerships across all levels of government and community organizations, we work to engage residents most at-risk through proven violence intervention programming to close this gap and help all Chicagoans live safer and healthier lives.”

Enjoying quality time with loved ones living with Alzheimer’s or Dementia

Connecting with a loved one in the middle or late stages of Alzheimer’s can still be meaningful, joyful, and even relaxing. Activities bring comfort and familiar routines, and simple shared moments can become treasured memories for family members of all ages. From little ones to grandparents, everyone can find ways to spend time together. The best activities meet your loved one where they are. Think about what they enjoy, what they can do, and what they feel up to today. Whether it’s a simple game, a nostalgic walk, or just sitting together, being flexible and mindful of their needs is key.

There’s no right or wrong way to do these activities—it’s all about the shared experience. Even chores like folding towels or sweeping the porch can bring comfort through familiar tasks. If something isn’t quite right, try another activity. Here are some ideas for both indoors and outdoors, plus some special holiday-inspired traditions.

Outdoor Activities

As part of this joint funding initiative, GASC created a streamlined process through which organizations may apply for funding to support CVI programs in their community. Eligible organizations are invited to apply for a grant under one or more funding opportunities, sponsored by individual GASC agencies to support CVI programming (this excludes the Capacity Building Network for Community Safety). Eligible applications that are not selected for funding under one opportunity may be considered for the other GASC grants, with the exception of the GASC Capacity Building Network for Community Safety Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO).

The Reimagine Violence Prevention Services NOFO seeks to provide $46 million to fund community-based organizations throughout Chicago and Greater Illinois that are dedicated to addressing firearm violence in targeted areas. These organizations will engage individuals at the highest risk of becoming victims or perpetrators of gun violence. Funded programs will use evidence-informed strategies designed to improve personal outcomes, promote resilience, and reduce the social and environmental factors that contribute to firearm violence. Through this GASC initiative, the Illinois Department of Human Services and its Office of Firearm Violence Prevention are reinforcing their commitment to creating safer neighborhoods and advancing long-term public safety outcomes across the state.

City of Chicago: Lead Organization for Expanding Capacity for Community Violence Interventions - Street Outreach Services Request for Proposals (RFP)

Through this RFP, the City of Chicago will administer up to $11.6 million in funding to select a lead organization and associated network of community organizations that will provide CVI and related services to individuals at the highest risk of violence involvement in designated communities and hotspots. Through this funding opportunity, organizations

GASC Capacity Building Network for Community Safety NOFO will provide up to $2.5 million to support a centralized, coordinated, and accessible capacity-building network that empowers community-based organizations in their efforts to strengthen community safety and respond effectively to the challenges posed by gun violence. With this funding, one organization will serve as an anchor to establish a network of subject-matter experts that will deliver targeted capacity-building services and technical assistance to more than 400 community-based organizations funded by one or more of the GASC partners. These efforts will strengthen those organizations’ abilities to deliver impactful community violence intervention and violence prevention services in their communities. This transformative model builds on GASC’s existing efforts through its Capacity Building Resource Library which is a resource hub for free regional capacity building resources.

“Community organizations are vitally important in identifying and addressing local violence prevention and intervention needs and issues,” said Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority Executive Director Delrice Adams. “To ensure equity, it is imperative to support organizations as they build effective and sustainable programs. This opportunity will centralize and greatly expand capacity-building service provision across Illinois, including comprehensive grant management training, budgeting skills, and other resources local organizations can apply to successfully seek and manage grant funding.”

In partnership with the City of Chicago, the Cook County Justice Advisory Council, Illinois Department of Human Services, and the Illinois Criminal Justice Information Authority, GASC has facilitated public investments of nearly $350 million to enhance community safety since its inception.

Stay Safe from Holiday Scams

The holidays are a time to celebrate with loved ones, not falling victim to scams that can steal your cheer. Falling for a scam can lead to losing money and putting your account and personal information at risk, which can be both time consuming and costly.

Here are some common seasonal scams and tips to help protect yourself:

• Missed packages or problems with delivery: Expecting a package? Be cautious of phishing messages through email or text impersonating delivery services like UPS or FedEx with links to view “missed deliveries.” These links may lead to fake sign-in pages or malware-infected sites. Do not respond to messages requesting personal or financial information, including money or cryptocurrency. Be wary of unexpected packages and avoid scanning QR codes, as they may be attempts to steal your information.

• Online deals that are too good to be true: When shopping online or on social media, buy only from trusted websites and vendors. If purchasing on a platform or marketplace, stay on the platform to complete transactions and communicate with sellers, as protections often only apply when you use the platform. Use payment methods that offer buyer protection, and never send money to strangers or use Zelle for purchases, especially when you can’t confirm the goods exist.

• Phony charities preying on your generosity: The Holidays is also a season of giving. Before you donate money, double-check contact and payment

information for your charity of choice and watch for text, email or phone call solicitations. Like any other unsolicited message, don’t click on links or open attachments that may contain malware or attempt to steal your information.

“Scammers do not discriminate and can target anyone during this festive season. Don’t let your guard down. Always remember that if something seems off, it likely is. By staying alert and informed, we can protect ourselves and our loved ones from falling victim during this holiday season,” said Darius Kingsley, head of Consumer Banking Practices at Chase.

Tips to Avoid Scams:

• Don’t send money to unknown individuals or

for goods or services that you can’t confirm exist.

• Be cautious of friendly messages from strangers on social apps. Scammers might try to build trust before asking for money.

• If a deal seems too good to be true, it probably is. Watch out for deep discounts or low prices that may be scams.

• If you shop on social media marketplaces, never pay using Zelle—it is the same as cash and you may not get back if there is an issue.

Exhibitions align city-wide

Over the coming months, a series of powerful exhibitions is highlighting the rich history and contemporary culture of Chicago’s Native American communities. Presented as part of the Terra Foundation for American Art’s Art Design Chicago initiative, six exhibitions are showcasing the breadth and depth of the work of Indigenous artists with ties to the region, including: Gagizhibaajiwan, Center for Native Futures, Through December 14, 2024

The work of four Anishinaabe artists considers depth,

duality, and paradox in Anishinaabe art as expressed through images of Misshepezhieu, the Underwater Panther, and Animikii, the Thunderbird.

Chicago Works | Andrea Carlson: Shimmer on Horizons, Museum of Contemporary Art Chicago, Through February 2, 2025

Andrea Carlson’s densely layered works include an abundance of motifs, making reference to the tactics of colonialism as well as her family and peers, Ojibwe culture, and Indigenous sovereignty.

Indigenous Chicago, Newberry Library, Through January 4, 2025

Centering the voices and impacts of Indigenous leaders, activists, and artists, this exhibition explores Indigenous history in Chicago across five centuries.

Still Here: Linking Histories of Displacement, National Public Housing Museum, Opening January 2025 TBD

This exhibition connects Indigenous peoples’ painful histories of forced migration with redlining and African American displacement in public housing.

Woven Being: Art for Zhega-

goynak/Chicagoland, The Block Museum of Art, Northwestern University, January 26 – July 13, 2025 (Opening Celebration Feb 2 2PM)

Zhegagoynak, the place now known as Chicagoland, is a critical nexus for Indigenous art past and present. Through the perspectives of four collaborating Indigenous artists, this exhibition brings together more than 80 works exploring confluences that have shaped and are shaping Indigenous creative practices in the region.

Living Stories: Contemporary Woodland Native American Art, Mitchell Museum of the American Indian, January 27, 2025 – January 5, 2026

This exhibition examines contemporary approaches to traditional Woodlands style art, highlighting the underrepresented and diverse Indigenous cultures of the Great Lakes region and the materials, art forms, and processes they have carried forward over generations.

Chicago has one of the largest urban Native American populations in the United States, with over 65,000 Native Americans in the greater metro-

politan area and approximately 175 different tribes represented. Despite histories of displacement and erasure, Native Americans have always been vital contributors to Chicago’s art ecosystem. Art Design Chicago’s partner exhibitions seek to showcase these contributions, offering diverse perspectives on Indigenous identity, tradition, and contemporary creative practices.

“Many artists want agency in the creation of their work, but we also want nuance in the interpretation of our works,” said artist Andrea Carlson (Ojibwe/ European descent), who is a co-founder of the Center for Native Futures and is exhibiting and contributing to several of these exhibitions. “If one listens to Native people talk about the content of our own work it becomes hard to paint us with the same brush, and that is a good thing. We are not monolithic, we are diverse, and complex.”

Each of these exhibitions was developed by and in close collaboration with Indigenous artists, historians, and community members, giving Indigenous artists decision-making authority for how their stories are told.

Much of the work in these exhibitions is reflective of the artists’ lived experiences and serves to imagine Indigenous futures free from colonial limitations.

“The Terra Foundation is committed to building relationships with Indigenous partners in Chicago and beyond,” said Sharon Corwin, President and CEO of the Terra Foundation for American Art. “In keeping with our mission to expand narratives of American art, we are proud to support programs by Native artists and the presentation of their work through these extraordinary exhibitions in Chicago that center the voices of Native artists, curators, and scholars of the region, and that make their stories accessible to the larger public.”

Indigenous artists and communities continue to shape Chicago’s vibrant cultural identity. By building long-term partnerships with Indigenous artists and communities, these exhibiting organizations seek to amplify their stories and build deeper understandings of Indigeneity in Chicago.

Reverse Mortgages

CONTINUED: As you may recall, Mr. A, a widower, had secured a reverse mortgage on his home without the knowledge of his children. It was not until Mr. A had a massive stroke that required him to be placed in a skilled care facility, that costs $20,000 monthly, that the family was made aware of the consequences of Mr. A’s lack of succession planning.

If you have a reverse mortgage that you have NOT been making monthly interest payments on, let your family know what your current principal balance is now. If the principal amount is greater now than the current value of your home, it may already be too late to begin paying interest on your mortgage to freeze your principle balance. However, if your principal balance is less than the current value of your home you or your family may want to consider beginning making monthly interest payments now to freeze the principal balance. Therefore, in most instances, preventing the principal balance from exceeding the value of the property.

Perhaps the most important thing that can be done to secure your home as an asset for you and your family is to create a living trust. A living trust will allow you to control your property without ownership. However, the property must be placed in a trust or taken out of the name of an owner a minimum of five (5) years prior to an owner’s need for long-term care in a facility.

I am saddened to report that Mr. A has passed; may he rest in peace.

Because Mr. A had no plan, his family is now faced with both the loss of their loved one and his property. The mortgage lender is going forward with the foreclosure and the nursing home has placed a $40,000 lien against Mr. A’s estate.

Don’t let what happened to Mr. A’s family happen to yours. Make a plan now!!!

Bye for now, Bren.

New Survey Confirms Impact of Clean Slate Policies in Utah, Pennsylvania, and Michigan

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The Clean Slate Initiative (CSI) announced the results of a groundbreaking survey that provides the first comprehensive confirmation of the effectiveness of Clean Slate policies in Utah, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. Conducted by YouGov, the survey polled 800 individuals with arrest or conviction records to assess how Clean Slate laws are transforming lives by sealing eligible arrest and conviction records.

The survey gathered responses from people who have a past arrest or conviction — a group rarely asked about their experiences in research or surveys, and the results show that Clean Slate policies are delivering tangible benefits. Notably, the survey found that over 40% of respondents whose records were sealed automatically reported improvements in their employment, personal finances, and access to public assistance. Additionally, 35% of these respondents reported better family relationships, and 34% noted improved mental health and self-esteem.

“These findings are the first confirmation that Clean Slate laws are working as intended—empowering people to rebuild their

lives without being held back by past mistakes,” said Dr. Laura Chavez, Director of Research and Data at The Clean Slate Initiative. “People who have earned a second chance should have a fair opportunity to fully participate in society. We will continue to evaluate the effectiveness of Clean Slate policies, and it’s promising that people reported noticeable benefits after state-initiated record sealing. With further study, we are confident that we’ll continue to see that removing barriers helps individuals, families, and communities thrive.”

Key Survey Findings: Employment and Financial Stability: 42% of respondents with automatically sealed records reported improvements in employment and personal finances.

Family and Mental Health: 35% of respondents experienced improved family relationships, and 34% reported positive mental health and self-esteem changes.

Awareness Gap: Despite the success of Clean Slate laws, over half of eligible individuals in Utah, Pennsylvania, and Michigan were unaware of their state’s Clean Slate law—highlighting the need for broader outreach and educa-

tion.

Widespread Support: 78% of the sample, all of whom are directly impacted by the legal system, support Clean Slate policies, with support exceptionally high among Black respondents (88%).

Since the passage of Clean Slate laws in Pennsylvania (2018), Utah (2019), and Michigan (2020), millions of eligible records have been sealed without people having to navigate burdensome and costly petition-based processes. Instead, Clean Slate laws shift the burden from individuals to the state, providing relief to people who often face obstacles like expensive legal fees and complex processes.

“The survey underscores the transformative potential of these laws, but it also highlights a critical need for ongoing education and outreach to ensure more people benefit from record sealing,” added Sheena Meade, Chief Executive Officer of The Clean Slate Initiative. “As Clean Slate policies continue to build momentum in states across the country, we hope this research can help lawmakers understand the need for investing in public notification and awareness to maximize the

benefits for individuals, families, and communities.”

About the Survey:

The Clean Slate Initiative commissioned the survey, which YouGov conducted in collaboration with Dr. Nyron Crawford, Associate Professor of Political Science at Temple University, polled 800 individuals with arrest or conviction records in Utah, Pennsylvania, and Michigan. The respondents reflected diverse demographic backgrounds and were surveyed about their experiences with Clean Slate laws, employment, housing, mental health, and awareness of their eligibility for record sealing.

The full survey report is available on The Clean Slate Initiative’s website.

Why This Matters:

More than 70 million Americans live with past arrest or conviction records, which can create lifelong barriers to employment, housing, and education. Clean Slate laws aim to break down these barriers, offering a second chance to those who meet the requirements, which includes remaining crime-free for a period of time determined by state law. By automating the sealing of

eligible records, these laws ensure individuals have access to meaningful opportunities to more fully participate in their communities and the workforce.

The Clean Slate Initiative is a non-profit organization that engages bipartisan support to pass and implement laws that automatically seal eligible records for people who meet the requirements. The organization works to build a future where people will no longer be defined by their records and have a fair opportunity to work, get an education, and achieve their full potential.

(StatePoint) Taking the proper steps to weatherproof your rental is a simple way to stay snug this cold-weather season – while also resulting in notable savings on heating and energy bills. In fact, a Duck brand survey found that 80% of people noticed a decrease in their heating bill after using affordable weatherization products, such as window insulation kits, weatherstrip seals and door draft seals. With this in mind, here are temporary ways to prep your rental for the winter without causing any damage. Install draft seals. Doors and windows are notorious for letting in cold air, which can drastically affect your home’s temperature. Fortunately for renters, the Duck Brand Double Draft Seal is a removable solution designed to insulate your door from both sides. This practical tool blocks drafts while maintaining the room’s temperature, ensuring both comfort and energy efficiency. Simply slide the seal under interior or exterior doors and window frames to keep cold air from coming in. Even better, the seals can be reused in future residences, making them a smart choice for keeping your comfort intact wherever you choose to live next. Hang thermal curtains. Thermal curtains are an excellent option if you’re looking for DIY ways to increase your space’s energy efficiency. By hanging these insulated drapes, the cold air between the window and fabric remains trapped, helping to maintain a comfortable temperature without the need to turn up the heat. If your lease doesn’t give permission to drill into the wall, use a tension rod to install them.

Embrace window kits. If thermal curtains aren’t your style, installing a removable window kit is just as easy. The Duck Max Strength Rolled Shrink Film Window Insulation Kit creates an added barrier between the outdoor air and your home’s inside. Plus, unlike thermal curtains, the film is crystal clear and allows natural light to peer through windows. Dress your floors. Who said weatherization can’t be stylish? By placing decorative, cozy rugs on hardwood floors and tiles, you can further insulate your rental. While these items won’t fully prevent heat loss, they do offer an extra layer of warmth and can help reduce drafts from cold floors, making them an obvious choice if you’re a renter looking to stay warm without making permanent changes. For more weatherization how-to’s, head to www.duckbrand.com/weatherize. By taking these steps, renters can remain draft-free and damage-free, staying warm while lowering costly electric bills.
