NEWS briefly EDUCATION COVID COLLABORATIVE ANNOUNCES PARTNERSHIP WITH AD COUNCIL ON $50 MILLION VACCINE EDUCATION CAMPAIGN COVID Collaborative recently announced a partnership with the Ad Council on an unprecedented $50 million vaccine education campaign. This initiative will represent one of the largest public education campaigns in history. According to a recent survey fielded by the COVID Collaborative, a majority of Americans (86%) believe that a vaccine will be effective in curbing the virus. Yet the survey found that only one-third (34%) say they will get vaccinated themselves. A new poll released recently by the COVID Collaborative, NAACP and UnidosUS showed that trust in vaccines is particularly low in Black and Latinx communities, with only 14% of Black Americans and 34% of Latinx Americans trusting that a vaccine will be safe. “COVID-19 is disproportionately impacting Black Americans, and generational trauma has led to massive distrust of vaccines,” said Derrick Johnson, CEO of the NAACP. “The national education campaign will be a critical step in providing Black communities with the information they need to rebuild trust and get vaccinated.”

RESEARCH ON MINORITY HEALTH BRINGS ‘OPPORTUNITY APPROACH’ TO REDRESSING RACIAL AND ETHNIC INEQUITIES The Health Opportunity and Equity (HOPE) Initiative has launched a platform that supports a new narrative on health inequities and provides achievable pathways for states to eliminate health disparities. In the midst of a national reckoning on race and the COVID-19 pandemic, HOPE data portrays an America that would be dramatically different if the impact of racism embedded in our society was eliminated and everyone experienced equal social, economic and health opportunities. HOPE data demonstrates the impact of the nation’s legacy of systemic racism that has left low-income and communities of color disenfranchised from opportunities and contributed to their poor health. Led by the National Collaborative for Health Equity (NCHE), the HOPE Initiative is a collaboration with Texas Health Institute and Virginia Commonwealth University’s (VCU) Center on Society and Health. Dr. Derek Chapman, Interim Director of the VCU’s Center on Society and Health, said, “Policymakers, advocates, and other stakeholders can use the HOPE data to measure how far states must go to achieve equitable opportunities for health and wellbeing, and inform policy solutions and practices that advance health equity.”

NORTH AMERICA ONLINE GAMBLING MARKET PROJECTED TO REGISTER A CAGR OF 14.78% According to a ResearchAndMarkets.com report, the North America online gambling market is projected to register a CAGR of 14.78% during the forecast period (2020 - 2025). Casino gambling has been one of the rapidly growing gambling categories, owing to the convenience of usage and optimal user experience. With the advent of technology, there has been a widespread implementation of virtual reality, block chain, and mobile platforms in the gambling industry across the region. The current legislation framework for online betting in the United States allows only bookmakers licensed in Nevada, Pennsylvania, Delaware, and New Jersey to operate legally, as these are the four states where online betting is regulated. Custom slot types are trending the most in the market, owing to the scope of innovation and personalization by consumers. Moreover, live casinos have gained popularity over the recent past, as they involve a wide deal of live dealers and real-time feedback that help improve the real-world casino experience. Harold Washington receives $1 million from Bank of America Continued from page 1 BY TIA CAROL JONES
Bank of America has partnered with Harold Washington College to create an education to jobs pipeline with the goal of assisting students of color obtain jobs in the technology workforce by providing them with the necessary education and training to make them prime candidates for those positions. The $1 million Bank of America gave Harold Washington College is part of a $25 million initiative from the bank nationwide to support community colleges that serve Black and Latinx students. Daniel López, Jr. is the president of Harold Washington College. López said the college was interested in partnering with Bank of America because it was a great opportunity to provide education and specific training opportunities for the residents of Chicago. “We think we’re going to be able to assist students who otherwise wouldn’t have these opportunities,” he said. López said, because of the students that Harold Washington College serves,
including first generation college attendees who are Black and Latinx, it’s a great opportunity for the students to get the skills necessary to enter the workforce. At the college, 48 percent of the students are Latinx and 26 percent are Black. “We have a population of students, that not only can benefit [from] this grant, but also, we have the students that maybe other places don’t have,” he said. “We are really thrilled we can partner with Bank of America to improve, not only access to education, but also to training programs that are going to help students become more competitive and hopefully positions that are going to allow them to move forward in their careers.” López said the training program, Techquity Chicago, will increase pathways to students for economic development and upward mobility. It is a two-year commitment where students will be part of a cohort where students will get academic experience and work with Catalyte in cybersecurity, software development and business. López said 10-12 students will start with a cohort a year. The goal is to have four cohorts within the next four
years. “We know this is going to open doors for our students and hopefully help them to land in jobs and careers that are going to be beneficial to them and the community,” he said. Paul Lambert is the Chicago market president at Bank of America. Bank of America made a $1 billion commitment to racial equity and social justice. “It’s a $1 million grant, but it’s actually more than the money. The idea is we provide end-to-end skill development and real jobs at the end. The $1 million goes to help reinforce already existing programs around technology and those in-demand fields of technology,” he said. Cara Pan is the Chicago market executive at Bank of America. Pan said the financial institution wanted to focus on which schools had a strong Black and Latinx populations and which schools it would be able to assist. “When we talked with City Colleges, it was just an obvious choice that Harold Washington was the perfect intersection of the right community, the right students, the right professionals at the school, so we were really excited to partner with them,” Pan said.
Organization highlights advantage of early education programs BY TIA CAROL JONES
Start Early believes early childhood education programs are one of the ways to close the opportunity gap that exists in the Black community when it comes to children’s education. Brenda Eiland-Williford is Start Early’s director of early childhood quality and impact. The organization has an Educare Chicago Center that is located at 5044 S. Wabash. She said it is a benefit for children to be involved in early childhood programs because young children’s brains are developing and it is an opportunity for them to really learn. “Their brains are developing so quickly and the more exposure a young child can get, in terms of engaging with other children, engaging with other adults, having an environment where they can explore, where they can try out new things, where they can discover, all of that adds to their ability to develop a strong sense of self, to develop strong socioemotional skills,” she said. “So, having that early childhood experience, which brings all of those things together, really promotes children’s growth and development and gives them such a strong foundation for when they enter kindergarten and later in life.” Eiland-Williford added an early
childhood education also helps children develop language and problemsolving skills. She said that at Start Early, they work with parents prenatally and they have doulas. Parents have the option of moving from the home-based doula program to the center-based program where the child engaged. The program goes up to 5 years old. Eiland-Williford said there are parents who have continued throughout the program, starting before the child was born until the child turned 5. She said Start Early was able to continue engagement with the family because the parents got so much out of it. “It was not just about learning how to engage with their child, it was also about the support the parent got as well. When we talk about early childhood, we talk not only about how children develop, but we talk about what the parent needs in order to be a support, to be an advocate, to be the kind of parents that can help her child flourish, grow and develop,” she said. Eiland-Williford said it is all about holistically supporting the child and the family. She said Start Early creates individual family service plans and every plan is different because every family is different. She said they provide the parents with community resources based
www.citizennewspapergroup.com
on those individual family service plans, and based on their needs. Eiland-Williford said Start Early and other early childhood education programs like it help close the opportunity and achievement gaps that exist in the Black community. She said the headstart program is a comprehensive program. “We not only look at educating young children and what’s best for young children, but how can we help families become self-sufficient. We’re talking about how we can help families become self-sufficient, earn a living wage that helps them go beyond minimum wage, that helps them get income where they can really live off of it,” she said. Eiland-Williford said it is a matter of supporting a family in obtaining a career that can make them self-sufficient, so they can get good housing, have savings and potentially own a home. “We talk about these big dreams and hopes that parents want for themselves and then we help them think about how we can chart out a pathway for you to get there. What are the resources, what are the community supports, what are the program supports that we can employ with you so that we can help you get on a track where you can be self-sufficient,” she said. Four social entrepreneurs receive funding to break down health disparity barriers in Chicago
Winter Home Sales Prices Yield Best Bargains for Buyers
Winter Home Sales Prices Yield Best Bargains For Buyers ATTOM Data Solutions recently released its annual analysis of the best days of the year to buy a home, which shows that days that fall in December and January will offer homebuyers the best deals. According to the analysis, buyers who close on December 4th or January 26th will get the best deal and pay exactly market value for a property, as opposed to above market value in an extremely competitive market that has been on the rise. This analysis of more than 27 million single family home and condo sales over the past seven years is evidence of the continuation of a hot sellers’ market (see full methodology below). Best Months to Buy The analysis also looked at the best months to buy at the national level (December) and at the state level. Nationally, while December is considered the best month to buy overall, there is still about a 1.5% premium. However, you can expect to pay higher premiums if you plan on
purchasing in the summer, with the month of June having the highest premium at 6.9%. According to the study, the states realizing the biggest discounts below full market value were Ohio (-7.4% in January); Michigan (-7.2% in February); Delaware (-6.3% in February); Tennessee (-6.2% in January); and New Jersey (-5.8% in December). Methodology For this analysis ATTOM Data Solutions looked at any calendar day in the last seven years (2013 to 2019) with at least 10,000 single family home and condo sales. There were 362 days (including leap year data) that matched this measure, with the four exceptions being Jan. 1, July 4, Nov. 11 and Dec. 25. To calculate the premium or discount paid on a given day, ATTOM compared the median sales price for homes with a purchase closing on that day with the median automated valuation model (AVM) for those same homes at the time of sale. The American Heart Association will provide financial support to four organizations committed to breaking down the social and economic barriers that prevent people from living longer, healthier lives. Through the Social Impact Fund, the American Heart Association is supporting sustainable solutions to address the challenges that have contributed to the disproportionate effect of COVID-19 in Chicago’s most under-resourced communities. The Social Impact Fund in Chicago is supported by a $1 million gift from Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL). Currently operating in Chicago, New York City, Boston, San Francisco, Oakland, Detroit, Washington, DC and Flint, Michigan, the Association’s Social Impact Fund was created to empower communities with localized resources to change their own trajectory of health and well-being. Through an infusion of financial support, the American Heart Association supports local solutions in the areas of economic empowerment, healthy food access, housing, recidivism, access to quality healthcare, transportation and educational opportunities. The latest round of Chicago Social Impact Fund financial recipients includes: ChiFresh Kitchen, a for-profit, worker cooperative food service contractor, owned and managed by formerly incarcerated individuals, primarily Black women. Operating out of The Hatchery in Garfield Park, ChiFresh Kitchen sells meals to institutions serving food insecure residents in Chicago’s West and South sides. The funds will help the organization catalyze the growth and sustainability of the social enterprise, build wealth for 75 formerly incarcerated Black women in Chicago over the next five years, and sell 5000 meals per week to Chicago institutions. CareMessage, a non-profit technology company that uses text messages to help safety-net organizations meet the needs of patients who lack an easy way to track health service appointments and manage medical records. Its comprehensive platform integrates with electronical medical record systems at Federally Qualified Health Centers and free and charitable clinics. The platform allows providers to text targeted interventions that reduce costs and improve patient care. The funds will support a pilot deployment of a new health needs assessment tool at six FQHCs on Chicago’s South and West sides, helping to identify the needs of 275,000 patients and connect them to local resources. Jane Addams Resource Corporation (JARC), a non-profit that provides free technical manufacturing training and wraparound services to connect low-income adults and returning citizens to careers with family-sustaining wages. JARC trains job seekers for skilled manufacturing positions that employers need to fill, leading to high placement and retention rates. With support from the Social Impact Fund, JARC will provide training and services for up to 70 individuals

per year in the Austin neighborhood, directly reducing unemployment rates in a community where 40% of residents live in poverty. mRelief, a non-profit social enterprise that is transforming access to SNAP benefits for families in need through an easy-to-use, multilingual digital platform. The fund will support the sustainability and reach of mRelief ’s platform on the South and West sides and expand access to SNAP benefits for 2000 Chicagoans, unlocking more than $2 million for the purchase of healthy foods. In Chicago, African American and Latino communities are among the hardest hit by the COVID-19 pandemic. According to the Chicago Department of Public Health, African Americans have died of coronavirus at a rate of more than twice their white counterparts, and Latinos represent nearly half of the COVID-19 infections in Chicago. Factors that contribute to disparities among people of color include higher rates of preexisting conditions, such as high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity, more workers with jobs that cannot be performed remotely and less access to health care and healthy foods. “The American Heart Association’s Social Impact Fund recognized and took action to help close the health and social equity gap on Chicago’s South and West Sides even before the impacts of COVID-19 magnified just how deadly those gaps are,” said Harmony Harrington, vice-president of government and community relations for Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois. “We’re proud to fund these efforts as part of our commitment to neighborhood-level, hands-on support to community partners helping improve the health of our communities.” “Long before the coronavirus pandemic, structural racism prevented many Chicagoans from accessing the health care, job opportunities and resources they need to be healthy,” said Lisa Hinton, the American Heart Association’s Metro Chicago executive director. “COVID-19 shone a spotlight on those inequities, as members of the Black and Latino communities are among the hardest hit by the pandemic. This investment in organizations working on Chicago’s South and West sides will create sustainable solutions to the challenges affecting the health and wellbeing of all Chicago residents.” While significant advances have been made in cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment, health results are disparate across economic, racial and ethnic groups. According to the County Health Rankings, only 20% of a person’s overall health is determined by clinical medical care, while the rest is determined by social and economic factors, as well as physical environment. Approximately 50 million people in the United States are at higher risk for cardiovascular disease because they lack the most basic needs — healthy food, clean air and drinking water, quality education, employment and housing. NEWS 5 Flu Season Tips to Keep Your Household Healthy StatePoint - Flu season is here, and amid the COVID-19 pandemic, it’s even more important than usual to take steps to avoid getting sick. Here are five top tips to help your household stay healthy: 1. Wash hands regularly: Make sure every member of the household washes their hands regularly with soap and water for at least 20 seconds each time. This is especially important to do after getting home, before preparing food and after using the bathroom. Even with regular hand-washing, it’s still important to avoid touching your mouth, nose and eyes. 2. Guard against germs: Cold and flu viruses can survive on household surfaces long enough for germs to spread. However, cleaning surfaces with an effective disinfectant can help put a stop to germ transfer. The good news is that you don’t need harsh chemicals. Inspired by nature, ARM & HAMMER Essentials Disinfecting Wipes, a citrus-based disinfectant, can be used around kids and pets and cleans without harsh chemicals. one meal with a hearty stew of potatoes, carrots, green leafy vegetables, broccoli, beans and lentils. To eliminate pesticides, wax and soil from produce, include a vegetable wash in your meal prep routine, which can be more effective than water alone. 4. Supplement your diet: Consider incorporating a dietary supplement into your family’s daily routine that contains vitamin C, zinc and other immunity-boosters. 5. Practice healthy habits: Getting regular exercise, staying hydrated and getting plenty of shut-eye are all proven ways to protect your health. Be sure to practice these healthy habits. As COVID-19 continues to place substantial demands on hospitals and healthcare resources, staying healthy and protected against the flu is especially vital. Washington’s inability to reach a deal on a new round of relief prior to the November 3 election further devastated the travel industry, and travel leaders are strongly urging policymakers not to wait for the new Congress and administration to take office before advancing another package.
Latest Projection: Travel Spending in U.S. to Plunge by Nearly Half This Year Travel spending in the U.S. is expected to finish the year 45% down from 2019 levels, and will still not have returned to its pre-pandemic strength by 2024, according to the latest figures released by the U.S. Travel Association. The new 2020 projected travel spending figure of $617 billion is slightly worse than U.S. Travel’s previous forecast released in July ($622 billion)—and is a precipitous drop from the $1.13 trillion spent on travel in the U.S. overall in 2019. The nosedive reflects a decline of 34% in domestic leisure travel spending—but even sharper drop-offs in the lucrative domestic business (55%) and international inbound (77%) markets. Travel is by far the industry hardest hit by the ongoing fallout of the COVID-19 pandemic, currently accounting for 33% of overall unemployment in the U.S. Nearly 40%—3.5 million—of all direct travel jobs have vanished over the past seven months, even after taking into account modest growth over the summer. Another million direct travel jobs—bringing the total to 4.5 million or 50% of pre-pandemic levels—are expected to disappear by year’s end without another round of congressional relief. It is unknown how many of those job losses will become permanent. Large numbers of travel businesses were unable to access early rounds of federal pandemic relief—and many businesses that did receive temporary aid have exhausted their relief funds. Washington’s inability to reach a
deal on a new round of relief prior to the November 3 election further devastated the travel industry, and travel leaders are strongly urging policymakers not to wait for the new Congress and administration to take office before advancing another package. “A lot of businesses that need help to retain and rehire their people won’t be there in January if we wait until the next Congress to get more aid passed,” said U.S. Travel Association President and CEO Roger Dow. “The pain among travel employers is extremely acute, and so is the frustration that Washington has been unable to act so far given the size and obviousness of this problem.” U.S. Travel continues to recommend specific policy actions that should be pursued by Congress immediately to help stave off further economic damage and job loss, among them: l Enhance and extend the Paycheck Protection Program through the end of 2021, allow for a second draw on loans, and expand eligibility to include 501(c)(6) and quasi-governmental destination marketing organizations. l Enhance and extend the Coronavirus Relief Fund through at least the end of 2021. l Provide additional emergency assistance to U.S. airports. U.S. Travel is also a founding member of the COVID RELIEF NOW Coalition, a large and diverse group of private- and public-sector interests that continues to issue urgent calls for legislative action.

The P&G brands partner with CVS and UNCF to award $200,000 in scholarships to Black women pursuing degrees in STEM subjects Black women have historically been underrepresented in the science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) workforce. P&G brands Royal Oils by Head & Shoulders and Gold Series from Pantene are determined to help change that by supporting the growth and development of future Black female STEM-focused innovators through a new initiative. Together with CVS this fall, P&G will award $200,000 in scholarships to Black women pursuing a degree in STEM subjects at historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) and UNCF member schools, facilitated through long-time higher education partner UNCF (United Negro College Fund). The Rooted in Science scholarships will be administered by UNCF, an organization dedicated to helping as many talented, deserving Black men and women as possible get to and through college successfully. To apply for a scholarship, please visit https://uncf.org/scholarships Applications will be open now through January 4, 2021, and recipients will be announced on January 28, 2021. There will be 16 scholarship recipients who will be awarded $5,000 a year for up to two years. Scholarship funds are intended to help college juniors and seniors with expenses associated with the pursuit of their degrees as 45.9% of Black students enrolled in four-year public institutions complete their degrees in six years. This is partially because 65% of Black college students are independent, which means they must balance obtaining a degree with full-time work, family responsibilities and more. “Providing these resources to young, Black women studying STEM is deeply important to P&G as we hope to help further

3 Ways to Treat Yourself With Self-Care This Holiday Season StatePoint - 2020 has thrown us all a lot of curveballs, so it’s no surprise that the concept of self-care is getting a lot of traction in many health and wellness circles. Treating yourself with healthy activities can improve your mental and physical state and help you be more present with friends and family this holiday season. Here are three ways to treat yourself and indulge in a little TLC, for everyone’s benefit, during the holidays. 1. Makeover your morning: Rise an hour before everyone else in your household to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea. Use the time to meditate, stretch, write in a gratitude journal or visualize a successful day ahead. 2. Make a list of your favorite things: Write down ideas that genuinely bring you joy and fill you with a sense of purpose. To ensure you’re finding time to do them, schedule them in your calendar. Activities could be anything from going for a run to buying fresh flowers or tackling an arts and crafts project. 3. Invest in new gear: Sometimes, the best motivator for getting active is a new piece of clothing or accessory you feel confident wearing. “Whether updating accessories to

reflect the latest trends or choosing something to support daily step goals, new footwear is a great way to treat yourself,” says Alyson Stanley, buyer for national retailer Rack Room Shoes. For those on-the-go, athletic styles such as Nike Air Max Excee and Brooks Ghost 12 running sneakers offer support to help reach health and wellness initiatives. To enjoy something ultra-comfortable that allows you to transition between activities easily or to wear when you
are lounging at home, try a classic Crocs with fun update – a fuzzy inner liner. And, to accessorize a stylish outfit, try a Dr. Martens Zavala combat boot available in various holidayinspired colors. For all your family’s footwear needs, visit rackroomshoes. com for online shopping or curbside pickup options. Once you have the plan in place, get into a self-care routine that works for you. Doing so can help you enjoy the holidays while breathing a little easier.

developing future innovations in beauty and personal care products that continue to support and reflect the needs of modern Black women.” Both P&G brands are #RootedinScience. Gold Series from Pantene was formulated by Black scientists, Ph.D.s, dermatologists and stylists, and provides superior moisture benefits, according to a press release. Through decades of cutting-edge innovation and technology, plus on-going research of textured hair, Royal Oils by Head & Shoulders was tested on African-ancestry hair for scalp and hair health. Black men and women make up 11% of the U.S. workforce, but only hold 9% of the jobs in STEM. Even though our nation’s 100-plus HBCUs make up just 3% of colleges and universities, they produce 27% of Black students with bachelor’s degrees in STEM fields. “During our 75 years of working together, P&G has been a very reliable partner for UNCF,” said Dr. Michael L. Lomax, president and CEO, UNCF. “With the COVID-19 pandemic raging across the United States and hitting communities of color particularly hard, we need as many students studying STEM fields as possible, as those careers are likely to be the bulk of our future pandemic frontliners—our future doctors, nurses, teachers and technologists. This new scholarship program helps fill a growing gap that HBCU students and other Black students have often fallen behind in due to a lack of funds. Thank you, P&G, for helping to open more doors to better futures for us all.” You can stop by your local CVS to learn more about the scholarships and Royal Oils and Gold Series products.

MasterClass Announces Alicia Keys to Teach Songwriting and Producing MasterClass, the streaming platform where anyone can learn from the world’s best across a wide range of subjects, recently announced that 15-time Grammy Award®-winning artist Alicia Keys will teach a class on songwriting and producing. For the first time ever, Keys will not only reveal her complete approach to songwriting, but also share her inspiring philosophies on how to unlock authenticity, empathy and vulnerability. Keys’ class is now available exclusively on MasterClass, where subscribers get unlimited access to all 90+ instructors with an annual membership. “Alicia is simply a legend,” said David Rogier, founder and CEO of MasterClass. “She appeals to and unites her audience with empathy and empowerment. In her MasterClass, Alicia not only breaks down her creative process, but deconstructs her most influential songs. She inspires all of us to control our power and purpose.” Designed for artists of all levels, Keys’ MasterClass will share her rare and valuable insight into songwriting with soul. Within the intimate setting of her personal studio, Keys will take members through her entire process, starting with developing lyrics at the piano in the Live Room, recording and layering vocals in the Iso Booth, and finally, arranging sonics in the Control Room. Breaking down the anatomy of her many anthemic tracks, she explains the various influences and elements that come together to create her signature, authentic and retro-futuristic sound, including how she harnesses the power of specific vocal arrangements and experiments with instruments and software. Fans will appreciate her rare deconstruction of the creative process behind one of her most iconic hits, “Fallin’.” Keys will also go beyond her

technical skills to discuss her take on inequalities in the music industry and how she’s creating more space at the table for those whose voices are silenced. Offering a rare look at the wealth of knowledge and experience behind her monumental career, her class will empower members to define their purpose, channel their empathy and find their authentic rhythm. “I cannot stress enough the power you have when you’re truly confident in yourself,” said Keys. “In my MasterClass, I’m excited to connect on a different level. We’re gonna talk about what I’ve learned, my process and how to access what’s inside of you, so you can connect and get it out into the world.” A talented performer from a young age, Keys scored her first No. 1 hit in 2001 with “Fallin’,” which was featured on her debut album, Songs in A Minor, and landed her her first five Grammy Awards, including those for Song of the Year and Best New Artist. She’s released six more critically acclaimed studio albums since her debut: The Diary of Alicia Keys (2003), As I Am
(2007), The Element of Freedom (2009), Girl on Fire (2012), Here (2016) and, most recently, Alicia (2020). As one of the most influential songwriter-performers of the last two decades, Keys has been honored with countless awards, including 15 Grammy Awards, 17 NAACP Image Awards, nine Billboard Music Awards, five American Music Awards and seven BET Awards, as well as the Starlight Award by the Songwriters Hall of Fame. In addition to her singing career, Keys is also acclaimed for her humanitarian work, philanthropy and activism. At just 22 years old, she co-founded and serves as the global ambassador of the nonprofit HIV/ AIDS-fighting organization Keep a Child Alive; she launched the We Are Here Movement, a petition to demand racial justice and equality; and in 2018, Keys formed She Is the Music, a music-industry group for female advancement. Kenny Lewis & One Voice’s New Album, Undefeated, Available Now on All Streaming Platforms Kenny Lewis & One Voice’s newest highly anticipated album, Undefeated is available now on all digital streaming platforms. The leading single, “Undefeated”, debuted at #4 on Billboard’s Digital Single Sales chart and has continued to gain popularity all over the country. In this new album, fans can look forward to eleven new songs with seven music videos. This book of music comes from a live worship experience that includes an array of styles. Undefeated encompasses traditional songs like “He’s Been PRNewsfoto/Kenny Lewis Good,” that features Bishop Charles Jenkins (“This Means War”) and choir music with a southern quartet feel as portrayed in “He Made A Way.” For listeners who love an up-tempo shouting track, “God Will Restore” jumpstarts a praise, declaring, “No matter what you’re going through, God will restore everything he stole from you!” However, in true Lewis format, he also introduces worship songs including “Greatest,” “Jesus,” and a cover of the Israel & New Breed hit, “Alpha and Omega.” There is also a reimagining of a traditional church hymn in “The Blood,” sung in a way truly signature to the One Voice sound that fans have loved through the years. Other featured artists on the album include Michael Lampkin, Gerald Moore, Kymar Garner and Sunday Best finalist, Tiffany Andrews. When referencing this body of work, Lewis felt people would need a word of encouragement, even if they can’t see their victory yet. “My purpose of this album is to remind people that God is still undefeated and He hasn’t abandoned us. Continue to have faith that he’s going to see us through.”

everyone's face, and this year, we could all use that now more than ever. Crafting seasonal dĂŠcor instead of shopping for it gives you and your family something to occupy your extra time at home and helps you avoid big crowds and shopping stress. Perhaps you'll make wooden signs with jolly messages or metal snowflakes covered in lights? Or maybe you'll craft ornaments for the tree or engrave life-lasting messages into the menorah? No matter the craft, a homemade holiday novelty will bring a sense of pride and happiness to all. Ready to get crafty and holiday savvy? Here's what to do: Make a plan Visualize your project in your space and measure the location so you know how many supplies you need. Take a look around to notice what areas have the most room. Get a view from the outside to see what your neighbors will see when passing by. Browse social media/decoration sites for inspiration. Save pictures of your favorites and then picture it fitting in your space. You could even sketch out your design on paper to get a clearer vision of what you're going to create. Locate your sources of electricity if you want to incorporate lights, music or even snow machines (hey, we can dream!). Be sure you have extension cords if you'll need them. Shop for your materials Shop for and select the items that are eyecatching and fun. Consider bright, festive colors and pretty patterns.
Research the items you need, and what stores near you carry them before you leave to save some time. Price check between stores to ensure you don't overspend. If possible, you can even order online supplies ahead of time to avoid the crowds. Have the best tools in your tool belt Equip yourself with tools that are lightweight, versatile, portable, user friendly and the very best to get the job done. The new MakerX line of tools from Worx will elevate your home-crafter game, giving you a range of creative options, allowing you to create from anywhere and perfecting the small details that make all the difference. Work any mistakes into your final design. After all, the experience is half the fun, and you're making memories that will last forever. Proudly display your holiday decorations in and out of your home for yourself, your family and your neighbors to enjoy. Take lots of pictures for friends and family who can't be there in person and share your work on social media. A little joy goes a long way.
