WELCOME TO WOW 2022

The Women’s Committee has planned a series of programs this year focused on leadership, sailing, creativity and just having fun. WOW kicked off the 2022 Season celebrating International Women’s Day. Our own CYC member, Peggy Sloan, shared her leadership experience at the Shedd Aquarium. It was inspiring to learn about all the amazing initiatives our neighbor, the Shedd Aquarium, is taking to protect the environment and marine life as well as the prominent role of women there. Our discussion on leadership continued with a panel discussion on How to Make CYC Your Club. Vice Commodore Lisa Curcio Gaston, Secretary Laura Sigmond and Board Member Nancy Snyder led the discussion on the many leadership opportunities available to members and the pathways to get there. For some culinary fun, the ladies went into the kitchen for a Pastry Decorating 101 class with CYC Pastry Chef Faith. After Chef Faith shared baking and decorating tips, the ladies grabbed pastry bags and decorated prepared items under Chef Faith’s professional guidance. Make sure you sign up for the Ladies Annual Luncheon on May 4. We are planning a special day with Omega. Come hear Omega’s story of their involvement with space, Hollywood, Olympics and the America’s Cup while enjoying a delicious Chef Larry special lunch. The WOW Sonar Sailing Series will continue again this year on Friday evenings. It’s a great way to improve your sailing skills and have a fun night out on the water with friends. This year we have split the 12 week program into two sessions. You can register for the Early Session, Late Session or both. We added an additional new sailing program this year, WOW Learn to Sail. You can start your sailing education with this class. This multi-day course will give women the skills needed to confidently skipper and crew a day sailing keelboat. No prior sailing experience is necessary. Registration is now open for both of these sailing programs. These programs sell out quickly, so sign up now to secure your spot. See you at the Club! ✶
