CHICAGO YACHT CLUB POWER FLEET CRUISING SEASON HAS BEGUN

The Chicago Yacht Club Power Fleet Shakedown Cruise to Kenosha, WI was held on June 4th - 6th and was well attended with 10 boats cruising up from Chicago, and Dwain & Lydia Lutzow sailed down from their home port of Racine. A total of 27 participants attended.

The weekend began with dinner at Ashling on the Lough on Friday night, a potluck breakfast on Saturday morning before heading to the Harbor Market for shopping, as well as checking out the Kenosha Public Museum and the Civil War Museum. Later that day we enjoyed a private tour of the Southport Light Station Museum and a trip to the top of the lighthouse for those who ventured to do so, also a fabulous dinner and after dinner rooftop cocktails at the Stella Hotel and Ball Room. A perfect way to start our cruising season.

Our next cruise will be the All-Club Cruise to Hammond Marina Venetian Night, Hammond, IN on Saturday, July 10, 2021. All members are invited to attend, whether traveling by sailboat, powerboat or by land. It’s a great event, hosted by the Hammond Yacht Club and Hammond Port Authority, with great food, live music, a harbor full of decorated boats for Venetian Night and a fireworks show to end the evening! The Power Fleet’s Annual Cruise to Reefpoint Marina is our final cruise of the boat season. We depart on Friday August 6th, 2021 for Reefpoint Marine, Racine, WI with our extended cruise to Door County, August 8th to August 15th . We’ll enjoy First Fridays in downtown Racine and wonderful dinner on Saturday night at The Brew House, several great ports along the way to Fish Creek, WI.
