Welcome to our 2023 production sale.
Welcome to the Ipsen Cattle Company 10th annual Online production sale. When we started with an online sale 10 years ago, we were in virgin waters. Not many buyers had bought bulls like this before. We do thank all of you for the support that we have been given. Over the years we have changed a few things that we think will improve the sale, proving that old dogs can learn new tricks. This year we have change sale platforms. We think you will like the new look and smoothness that RanchHQ has brought to the sale. We have decided to enter into the extended bidding portion of the sale earlier so please be aware of that and read through the bidding instructions to familiarize yourself with everything new.
Our philosophy and program are simple: To produce the most predictable, functional, and highest maternal cattle possible, with high Carcass merit for today’s industry needs. We have achieved this by using the best possible genetics available for our environment, with balanced traits and a rigid and ruthless culling program. We feel fortunate to have our son Logan giving us advice on herd sires. In his travels he sees more cattle than any of us would be able to and has a great ability to sort those animals with true muscle and performance. We have been on a journey, as you look at the cattle, you can see, from their thickness, we are meeting this goal. We discuss these sires and make the decisions on which bulls will work, to produce a top set of breeding cattle. Thus, it puts us at a great advantage in sire selection and at the end of the day after they have been Measured, Tested, Weighed and Sifted we offer them to you.
All cattle selling, except Hereford bulls, have been parent verified, EPD’s genomically enhanced and all bulls have been PAP tested to give you the highest level of predictability possible.
Emphasis has been placed on all the important traits that make cattle profitable and believe that single trait selection is a one-way road to disaster. Phenotype, structure and convenience traits are highly important to us and drive this program. We also place great emphasis on EPD’s as a TOOL in the selection process. As we get further into genomic testing, the EPD’s are carrying higher accuracies and becoming more reliable. As you appraise the offering keep in mind your resources. Will they allow you to capture the full genetic potential of a high EPD animal or would you be better off to moderate in certain traits?
BULL BUYERS: As the majority of our bulls go to ranchers that run at elevation. They will have their actual PAP score listed : 43 PAP score and lower can run at any elevation, scores at 44-51 to 7500’, scores above 52 should stay at lower elevations. Please don’t be afraid to discuss this with us if you have any questions.
HEIFER BUYERS: Take a good look at the heifers offered this year. The quality is phenomenal again. We are excited to watch them as they develop this winter. We believe in these genetics and will buy back any bull calf from these at weaning at $200 over your steer price if anyone desires to do that.
Thank you for your support in the past and we look forward to continuing to earn your trust in the future. For those that may be new to us please feel free to call anytime. We like discussing cattle. We are grateful to have made so many friends in this business. Please join us on sale day for a tri-tip lunch.

The Targeting the Brand logo is designed to highlight registered Angus bulls with greater genetic potential to produce calves meeting the most challenging specifications of the Certified Angus Beef brand. Bulls must meet genetic requirements of +0.65 Marbling EPD and +55 Dollar Grid ($G) to qualify.
Ipsen cattle has been measuring and selecting for maternal excellence in the three breeds that we produce. The Hereford breed introduced it many years ago and see the benefits it has produced. The program, regardless of the breed, is designed to capture additional reproductive trait data and ultimately expand reproductive productivity in the herd.
By submitting all our data and driving ourselves to study more economically relevant traits in our herd, we are able to offer data that is transparent to our customers and allows them to rely on the data produced by the associations based on maternal genetics. Our dedication to our cow herd is second to none. It has been a commitment to account for every female in the herd, one in which has paid of for us and we feel will pay for our customers as well.
Genomics: Don’t just take our word for it Now producers can make more rapid genetic progress than ever before with genomic-enhanced expected progeny differences (GE-EPDs). Genetic evaluation also means commercial producers of registered cattle can make selection decisions with increased confidence in the accuracy of genetic predictions and assured Parent verification.
All Angus lots have GE-EPD profiles.

Heifer bull.
Bay is a result of our standing offer to
back any bull calves from heifers that were sold in the year previous sale. When we made our deliveries after last years sale and I saw him on his 2 year old dam I knew we needed to bring him back. 1913 is a massive built Angus bull that moves with ease. He is deep bodied and thick in all the right places. He has it all put together with low
high growth and Carcass numbers that qualify him for the “Target the brand” program.

ease bull. Another good bull coming from a 2 year old heifer. We are going to see a lot of sale toppers coming from the 918 cow in future sales. She has another top end bull calf on her this year. When you study Never Forget you have to admire his overall dimension and attractive look. He is thick over his top, flat and wide in his hip and very impressive in his rear quarter dimension. He covers his tracks when he is on the move and with a PAP score of 35 he can run at any elevation and will cover the high country with ease for his new owner.
Calving ease bull on larger heifers with supervision. Allgier has a double digit CED with lower BW EPD and a moderate birth weight. He is also built right for a calving ease bull. Having a slender front 1/3 with a nice made head and tight shoulders gives me confidence to recommend him for heifers. In his middle third he has huge capacity and extends back to a impressive back 1/3. His power here is very impressive. He is a meat wagon that is going to impress the toughest of critics. He is a Maternal 1/2 brother to to our good walking herd bull “Bear”. Allgier continues to rise to the top of the pen and won’t be hard to find. Dam has 3 daughters in our herd and one working for Reeve (ID). Dam’s production CI: 8 @ 367, BW: 8 @ 67, WW: 6 @ 105, YW: 6 @ 101 PATHFINDER COW.
Calving ease, High Maternal.
Dillon is one of the more moderate framed Tahoe sons around the country. He is loaded with maternal traits. As we turn the corner in this cattle cycle and those replacement heifers become highly sought after here is a bull that will allow you to raise your own replacement that will carry you into the next cycle. 1118 is good footed, as you will note, as you look at his entire EPD profile. Find this very attractive bull in the pen when you visit and help yourself to years of adding breed leading maternal traits into you herd. Bondurant is a massive, performance powerhouse with tremendous volume and dimension. He has excelled with every measure we have taken: 114 WW ratio, 112 YW ratio. His math does qualify him for the “targeting the brand” designation. He is very strong on his feet and legs and for a big bull he travels with ease. Check him out, you won’t find many faults with this powerful Southern Charm bull. Dam has son working for Eliason (UT). Dam’s production CI: 3 @ 362, BW: 3 @ 75, WW: 2 @ 107, YW: 2 @ 104.
Exclusive is the highest $B son of his popular sire LD Capitalist 316. He not only has a phenomenal angus phenotype on good feet and legs, but his EPD profile ranks him as one of the top Carcass sires in the breed. He has great capacity, excellent mobility with great muscle expression and easy fleshing. A bull with high growth but also above average calving ease. If you want style in your steers and maternal excellence in your replacements look this direction.

Maternal, Top Pick Herd Sire, 3/4 brother to lot 6. Keeping a 1/3 in herd semen interest. Pinedale is a high octane Exclusive son that has dotted his I’s and crossed his t’s! Top of the breed for growth in both his EPD profile and backed by his indiviual performance. A moderate framed bull with a stylish front 1/3, deep and spacous mid section and powerful rear 1/3. Look at him from any angle and you will see style, balance and power. Very docile to be around, moves like a cat and on sound feet and legs. We think enough of Pinedale we are using him as a clean up bull for the Angus heifers. Dam has son working for Gimor (UT) and 2 daughters in our herd. Dam’s production CI: 5 @ 370, BW: 5 @ 70, WW: 4 @ 105, YW: 3 @ 99.
Growth bull, excellent maternal traits. This long bodied Exclusive son, that is thick topped, has as much eye appeal as any bull in the sale. The maternal side of this pedigree is loaded with outstanding cows from our program that have raise numerous sale toppers. Logan lands in the top 25% of the breed for the important Maternal traits that will keep you in the cow/calf business for years to come. Growth bull, Top of the breed for $B, WW, YW, Low PAP score. Wasatch has stellar growth numbers to sire top end steers and heifers that are headed to the feedlot. A very low PAP score to allow him to run at any elevation. 1917 is a very attractive bull with a long spine, thick top and big flat hip. You will find him very easy for his attractive look and flawless movement around the pen.
Calving ease, Carcass, Low PAP. An Alternative son that is a sleep all night calving ease bull with length of body, balance and is very attractive. Never Forget is thick topped with a long loin and deep in his rear quarter. His dam is a feminine and attractive cow that has an impeccable udder that is good footed and sound. Add into mix high Carcass qualities and low PAP score Never Forget will move any program in a positive direction. Dam has son working for Jensen
Calving ease, Growth, Carcass, Low PAP.
The most unique bull in the sale. Flight 93 is a sleep all night calving ease prospect with very good Growth, Carcass and PAP numbers. If you like moderate frame, thick and stout here is a bull that will catch your attention. We crossed the powerful performance bull, Alternative, with the highly maternal line of Charlo 3212 and believe it was a great cross. I kept his older brother as our walking herd sire to replace Bear. I’m not sure that we have raised a thicker bull than this rascal. If you need to moderate your cows or add some thickness look no further.
Calving ease.
Having a low actual BW and breed leading CED Homeland is a true calving ease prospect that will be a great investment. After using him on heifers he will easily move into the Herd sire for the cowherd. If you believe in larger Scrotal measurement leading to earlier puberty in your heifers look to Homeland to be the one. I could write a book on how well he is put together but all I wll say is all the pieces are in place with this one. Dam has sons working for Skinner (ID). His real value has surfaced in the females that he has left us with, they are everything we thought they would be and more.
Calving ease, Low PAP. Jackson will work as a sleep all night calving ease bull that will easily transition into a bull being used on the mature cow herd. He is very balanced in both his EPD profile and physical make up. The Bear bulls are always sought after for calving ease, growth, docility and calf power. A performance based heifer sired by Southern Charm. She is going to be big and raise big calves. Look at her growth EPD’s, top 20% of the breed! She has some of the greatest females in the Hereford breed in her pedigree Domino 3027, Diamond 1353, Advance 752G and the great Donna 714, who is arguably the best cow in the Angus breed. She is also a 1/2 sister to lot 48. Daughters have been sold to Jo bulls (Ut), Garrison (KS) sons to Simons, Pratt (ID) and Kearl (Ut). AI’d to DCD Leader 918 (HB014876) 11-19-22. Pasture exposed to ICC Poundmaker 0814 (HB019045) from 11-25-22 to 1-15-23.
F1, Homo Polled Top pick.
In my opinion the sale feature is this heifer. It is and always will be our policy to share the best we have with our good customers. The heifers in this sale have been top tier females that will make front pasture animals and donors in their lifetime. If you look at Sheridan’s EPD profile you see she is in the top 20% percentile in every category except 3 that IGS tracks. Looking closer she is the top 3% or better for RE and Marbling. Her dam is an own daughter of the superior Red Hereford cow 73S that Ned and Jan Ward have built their herd around. Sheridan’s sire is the best kept secrect in the Angus breed. Bear is known his superior daughters and good doing bulls. Combine these two individuals and the future is exciting for her. We will retain 2 flushes on Sheridan at our expense and buyer convience. AI’d to DCD Leader 918 (HB014876) 11-19-22. Pasture exposed to ICC Poundmaker 0814 (HB019045) from 11-25-22 to 1-15-23
“ I have been buying bred heifers from Ipsen Cattle Company for several years now and rolling them into my spring breeding program with ease. Heifers breed back quickly and give me calves with the like and kind that buyers search for. I have kept many of the heifer calves from these purchases for replacements in my own heard. I can’t say enough about quality here. Thanks Ipsen Cattle Company! ”
