A

A month before his fifth birthday, Grant was diagnosed with Leukemia. Grant fought hard through more than three years of chemotherapy before beating cancer and ringing the ceremonial bell to signal the end of his treatment. He remains cancer-free today at the age of 10.

Grant’s favorite things about MD Anderson are “Dr. Nunez and drawing pictures.” He is comforted by the familiar sight of art class in the playroom when he arrives for appointments in the Child & Adolescent Center, feeling more at ease drawing cars, trucks, and puppies than sitting in the waiting room. Art is his favorite class at Montgomery Elementary.

He hopes to one day attend Texas A&M University and become an engineer so he can “build big buildings.”

Some of Grant’s other interests include building with Legos, nerf gun adventures, and playing with his standard poodle puppy named DJ. He absolutely loves fishing and hunting with his grandpa, and taking trips to Walmart with his Grandma. Along with his mom, dad, and older sister Gracie, Grant continues to raise awareness for childhood cancer.
