At the Museum A Chilliwack Family Christmas How did pioneer families celebrate Christmas? This popular program includes stories and a Christmas exhibit. Students will make decorations, an old fashioned toy and a chocolate peppermint confection. Book early, this program fills up quickly!

Five Corners

• Guided by us • Grades: 2 - 3 Historically, Chilliwack's Five Corners was a hub of economic and social activity. Chilliwack Inside & Out Walking Tour This downtown walking tour kit guides you and your class to historic Chilliwack sites like Five Corners, the Royal Hotel, Chilliwack Cenotaph and more. Explore the streets and alleys of Chilliwack on your own time with our interpretive guidebooks.

Art in Words How do you say 'friend' in the Stó:lō language of Halkomelem? In this unique program, students will create original art cards using Halkomelem words based on the artwork of Chilliwack's Bonny Graham-Krulicki. • Guided by us • Grades: 3 + • Mon/Tuesdays

In Your Classroom Early Community Life Explore the origins of Chilliack through the eyes of the Kipp family. This is a two part program where the teacher delivers the first part before we visit. School Bells & Inkwells Pictures and stories transport students back to the days of one and two-room school houses. Students will handle a slate and slate pencils and will look at primers and a McLeans Method of Handwriting sample.

Techno Quilt Investigate artifacts as you explore clues placed on our brightly coloured nine piece techno quilt 'game board'. What role does technology play in your life? What role did it play long ago?

Full Steam Ahead* Thirty-thousand gold seekers travelled up the Fraser River in 1858. Students will follow the diary of settler Charles Evans as he describes his arduous journey to BC in 1862. Students investigate occupations undertaken during the gold rush, interpret artifacts, and taste food popular at the time.

The Discovery Hunt

The Discovery Cupboard

This self-guided activity is great for drop-in trips, or as a supplementary activity to one of our school programs. Participants answer questions based on artifacts on display in our galleries.

Explore our Discovery Cupboad full of hands-on artifacts from long ago! How have things changed since you were a child? How are things the same? Booking: Please phone us to book: 604-795-5210. Have your preferred date and time, name of school and teacher, phone number, email and size of class ready. ESL, homeschoolers and other groups welcomed. Supervision: We recommend that one parent accompanies each ten students. Cancellation fee: The program fee will be levied for cancellations received less than 14 days prior to booking. This is only waived in the event of unavoidable situations. Confirmation: Provided at least one week in advance. Bussing: Bus drop off zone is located in front of the Museum building. Please allow time for loading/unloading. Out of Area: For groups from Abbotsford, Agassiz, Hope or beyond, please book one of our "At the Museum" programs. Wheelchair Accessible Additional Information: There's lots to do in downtown Chilliwack. Consider pairing our museum programs with additional activities offered by the Chilliwack Library, Save-OnFoods, Chilliwack Landing Leisure Centre, St. Thomas Anglican Church and the Chilliwack Cultural Centre.
