About Relation. About Human. About Culture. About Interaction. About Experience. About Circulation. About Spatial Quality. About Form. About Function. About Architecture.

Architecture Me For architecture, my opinion when I was young was ‘as long as it looks nice’; but until I came into contact with it and understood the truly beauty of architecture, I realized that it was not as superficial as I thought… ’I believe that the way people live can be directed a little by architecture’. ——Tadao Ando Architectural design is the process from finding problems to solving problems as recognizing the need is the primary condition for design. I have a habit in the architectural design process. I like to let people around me tell about their own life experiences, and use this personalized time and space experience to find possible design problems and solutions. This habit contains a basic understanding of architecture, that is, architecture is create by people, and create just for people. The human activities in architecture are the most important. Therefore, if you want to convince me that space is the most important in architecture, then there should be evidence to prove that space can affects human activities the most. Design surely can make this world a beautiful place. However, in addition to that design can tell you something about social relationships, something about how people interact with our environment, or even represent a piece of other’s life stories. The process of optimizing a design is actually asking yourself, why is this done? Why not do that? Ask yourself one by one until you find a near perfect answer.

SOLID & VOID RELATIONSHIP
URBAN BACKYARD
As, southern Klang is the capital city centre, it's a rigid form that can't be penetrated, yet the back lanes or voids present in the structures, demonstrate territories of different ethnic groups.
PURPOSE
CONNECTING COMMUNITY Due to the monofunctional commercial zone between the town and isolation amidst general population, the town has quit progressing. To succeed as a self-sustaining town, the community needs to stop evacuating and work as an inseparable unit towards advancement. Compatibility among different cultures and occupants is the significant key to the development of a town.

The function and public realm in this learning center will diffuse together to let the users experience both at the same time.
Instant communication between makers and non-maker visitor is important for the learning center to become a dynamic creative hub. A visitor's circulation is created to connect all the experience area of the maker workshops. It can serve an educational purpose for more people to understand the culture in Jalan Stesen 1 and they may involve in the workshop while the makers can advertise and present their products to the public.

CULTURAL FRAGMENTS
C E N T E R
MUAR, AN AGEING TOWN Muar town is currently so-called as “retired town” by the local people as there is a very limited public activity happening in the outdoor area, and the town is totally quiet after 7pm. Local people couldn’t see any potential of development in Muar town, caused majority of young generation moving out to big city such as Johor Bharu, Kuala Lumpur or Singapore, resulting in 67% of decreasing population within 10 years.

Extend and Improve the existing rather than create a new one.
My idea is to bring back the forgotten identity of Muar town, I start from tracing back to the history of Muar and found that Gambier actually has an intertwined relationship with Johor development. What is Gambier? A tropical shrubs that can grow up to 3m. The leaves and twigs can be boiled and used it for leather tanning, fabric dyeing, and also for medicine purpose. With the established of Johor Gambier Plantation and Education Association 2 years ago, it firmer my idea in doing a cultural center dedicated for Gambier in the royal town of Johor.

1880 After the Jementah civil war, Maharaja Abu Bakar start to develop Muar by introducing Kangchu system and encourage kapitan set up gambir and pepper plantation and it only allowed to grow at river sections.
1887 5 main roads were constructed and Muar State Railway was built to transport gambier and pepper.
1910 Kangchu system abolished. gambier was replaced by pineapple and rubber as the most important plantation crops in this region and with the development of chemical industries, the demand for gambier ceased and the plants virtually disappeared.
1967 with the growth of industrial production, Sultan Ismail Bridge is constructed for ease of movement and reduce the travel duration to cross the river. This also cause train and ferry service to be replaced by road system. Gambier plantation is totally gone but we still have pepper industry.
