EDITOR From the
First and foremost, congratulations on your engagement! As you plan your dream wedding with your dream partner, you’re entering a pretty exciting chapter. As a romantic (obviously!), I love being this magazine’s editor. It’s an honor to share with you inspiration and advice, guiding you through this special time. I don’t take the role lightly, so when creating each issue, I step into your shoes with every decision.
Now, I want to swap places and invite you to step into my shoes for a moment: I’m at my desk, writing this letter while the final pieces of this edition come together. Surrounding me are grayscale printouts of every page, covered in bright highlighter streaks and cryptic shorthand notes. My planner? It’s long since abandoned its original date-keeping purpose and is now doubling as a notepad. An old coffee mug — its date of brewing a mystery — has been relegated to the desk’s edge, cold and forgotten in the shuffle.
And, scene.
As you flip through the pages of this magazine, you’ll find a curated collection of stunning gowns, vibrant florals and decadent cakes. But as the editor, I see more than the polished results. I see the months of teamwork, endless email chains, creative vendor collaborations — and, yes, my messy desk.
All this is to say, what you hold in your hands is the culmination of passion and collaboration. And that’s not just true of this magazine — it’s true of every wedding and styled shoot featured within these pages. Just as this magazine is a crisp finished product, every wedding you see here is the sparkling final work of months of planning and collaborative decisions.
If you’re looking at these polished pages wondering, “How am I going to pull this all together?” take a deep breath. I share this — albeit embarrassing — painting of my desk to show that even this magazine started as a flurry of ideas, scribbles and non-aesthetic chaos.
With the right vendor team, a bit of inspiration and a strong love between you and your partner, your day’s elements will come together just as you’ve dreamed. Or, in my case, the right contributors, co-workers and shared creative visions bring this magazine to life beautifully.
As the editor of a wedding magazine, you might expect me to declare your wedding day the most important moment of your life. But here’s the truth: while your wedding day will be undeniably magical, what matters most is the love, commitment and story that follows. After the sparklers have fizzled out and the dance floor has been swept clean, it’s the story you’re writing with your partner that truly counts.
And now, without further ado, I present over 200 pages of inspiration and planning advice. Here, you will find a comprehensive planning blueprint, from venue guides to vendor tips to wedding fashion inspiration. I sincerely hope this issue leaves you thrilled about your wedding planning. Enjoy the ride, and feel free to get swept away in the beautiful, messy details of it all.
Happy planning!

Obtaining a Georgia Marriage License
REQUIREMENTS
Both parties must be present at the county clerk at the time of application in order to obtain a marriage license.
In Fulton County, the signed marriage license should be returned to the probate court within 30 days of the ceremony. You will then receive your marriage certificate in the mail within 30 days.
WHO MAY APPLY
Unmarried people who are at least 18 years of age, of sound mind, and have no living spouse from a prior un-dissolved marriage can apply for a marriage license. If at least one applicant is a resident of Georgia, a marriage license can be issued at a probate court in any county. If neither applicant is a Georgia resident, then you must get your license issued from the county where the ceremony is taking place.
Exceptions:
• If you are 17 years of age when applying for a marriage license, you must show that you have been emancipated for no less than 15 days and present a certificate of completion of separate specialized premarital counseling for each applicant, even if one applicant is over 18.
WHAT TO PROVIDE
Both partners must be present at the time of application and will need to bring proof of age, proof of divorce (if applicable) and a method of payment. Accepted documents include: birth certificate, driver’s license, state ID, military ID, resident alien ID or passport.
COST
A marriage license fee differs depending on the county and ranges from $16-$76. Each county offers a discount for completing a premarital education course. Check with your local probate court for restrictions on payment.
For Fulton County, marriage licenses are $56 (cash/credit/debit) or $16 if you provide to the court a Certificate of Completion for a Qualified Premarital Education Program. This premarital education must be completed within 12 months prior to the application of the marriage license and the couple must undergo the education together.
WAITING PERIOD/ EXPIRATION OF LICENSE
Georgia doesn’t have a waiting period before the license can be used. In some counties the license doesn’t expire, but in others, the license expires after six months. Also, verify how many days you have to return the license for filing.
Looking to get married somewhere other than Georgia? Visit atlantastyleweddings.com/planning-tools to learn about marriage license laws in other areas of the Southeast.
Where to Go
Marriage licenses are issued by county probate courts, so where you receive your marriage license can depend on residency and ceremony location. Since procedures for applications vary by county, call your county clerk’s office to verify requirements, hours and additional locations. Some counties require an appointment, so be sure to schedule as needed.

• Are appointments required to visit and try on wedding attire?
• Approximately how long are the appointments, and how far in advance should I book?
• How many guests can attend the appointment with me?
• Should I bring with me any special under-garments, shoes or accessories?

Wedding fashion is where tradition meets reinvention, and 2025 is already shaping up with standout trends. While iconic silhouettes and traditional textiles remain eternal, this year is all about the details. Here’s what’s on the horizon for this year’s hottest wedding styles.
BASQUE IN IT
Channeling the elegance of Victorian-era fashion, the basque waist is making a regal return as the silhouette of the season. With its signature v-shape that dips below the natural waist and hugs the body just right, this timeless design exudes old-world glamour while feeling effortlessly modern.

Trend Report
IN FULL BLOOM
Gone are the days of all-white gowns. Colored floral motifs are blossoming as a standout trend, bringing a fresh twist to classic wedding looks. From delicate 3D appliqués to bold printed patterns, these colorful details add a girlish touch without veering too far from tradition.
Who could forget Carrie Bradshaw’s wedding dress in “Sex and the City?” That iconic gown, with its playful bubblehem tiers, continues to inspire modern marriers. For a gown that’s anything but ordinary, the bubble hem is a perfect blend of vintage charm and avant-garde edge.
Corsets and boning and bodices, oh my! Cinched-waist wonders are shaping up to be quite the bridal statement. Whether it’s a true lace-up corset or a structured bodice, the corset aesthetic creates an hourglass figure while adding an edgy, fashion-forward vibe.

DRESS SHOPPING
Tips
Finding “the dress” is often at the top of every nearlywed’s to-do list, but it can also feel like one of the most daunting tasks to tackle. With a little preparation and the right mindset, however, dress shopping can become one of the most enjoyable, memory-making experiences all on its own. Here are a few tips to help you make the most of your dress shopping day!
MAKE AN APPOINTMENT
Wedding gown shopping isn’t the time for a drop-in. Most reputable bridal salons require appointments, and this is for your benefit! By booking ahead and completing any preappointment questionnaires, your stylist will have time to get familiar with your wedding details and pull gowns tailored to your style and vision.
SET YOUR BUDGET
Establish a budget ... even if your budget is “no budget.” Remember to account for accessories, alterations and specialty undergarments. Sticking to a budget narrows your options and helps you choose salons that align with your price range.
INVITE THE RIGHT CREW
While it’s tempting to bring a large entourage, too many opinions can overwhelm you and affect the mood of the appointment. Think carefully about whose input matters most and keep your group small and VIP-only.
DOCUMENT THE DAY
Snap photos and jot down notes during your appointments to keep track of what you’ve tried on. Your facial expressions in those photos can reveal so much about how you truly feel in each gown! These notes will also make it easier to narrow down your favorites later.
PLAN FOR ALTERATIONS
BRING PROPER UNDERGARMENTS
Whether or not shapewear is part of your plan for the big day, bring what makes you feel your most confident to your appointment. Many crepe or fitted gowns look their best with seamless undergarments, and nude or skin-tone options are a must to avoid distracting patterns showing through delicate fabrics. We all have good imaginations, but it’s all about minimizing the guesswork and focusing on how the dress truly looks and feels – without pretending you can’t see the bright undies showing through!
Almost every wedding dress will need alterations. Start the process about 3-4 months before your wedding date to ensure everything is tailored to perfection.
PERMISSION TO SAY “YES”
Go into your appointment with an open mind. Your gown should feel authentically you. A gown can check every box on your must-have list, but if you don’t love it, then it’s not the dress. Another gown could be completely different from anything you thought you wanted, but if it feels right,
RELAX AND ENJOY!
Your wedding gown will be a reflection of who you are. When you find her, you’ll know. Enjoy the process and happy shopping! ■

FEEL BEAUTIFUL, LOOK BEAUTIFUL
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Tags Photography
You don’t need to change a thing about your appearance to shine on your wedding day, but there’s no harm in indulging in a little extra pampering. Think of it as a way to celebrate this exciting new chapter. By embracing a few thoughtful beauty rituals, you can feel your most radiant. Consider these tips to elevate your routine while staying true to the real you.
TIP: Enjoy primping and pampering, but don’t forget to exercise self-love. If you spend the months leading up to your wedding trying to change your appearance, you won’t look or feel like yourself on the big day. Remember: confidence and selfassurance are the most radiant beauty boosters.
BEST FACE FORWARD
Your face and the joy it radiates will be front and center on your wedding day. If you have skin concerns you want to address, consult a dermatologist at least six months before your wedding. They’ll be able to give you the best advice on what to do — and what not to do — to prep your skin. Alternatively, see an esthetician for facial treatment and product recommendations. In the spirit of pampering, we also recommend getting a few relaxing facials during your planning process. A facial can make you feel rejuvenated and ready to shine!
TIP: Start professional skincare treatments early to get your skin accustomed to the process. This allows time for your skin to adapt, avoiding any unexpected reactions.
FROM THE INSIDE OUT
Hydration is one of the simplest and most effective beauty tips. You’d be surprised at how much of a boost your skin and energy can get from simply staying hydrated with your daily eight glasses of water. To keep hydration fun, invest in a stylish water bottle and keep it close.
TIP: Many find that cutting back on alcohol consumption makes them happier and healthier. Explore nonalcoholic options like zero-proof cocktails or creative mocktails for refreshing alternatives.
MANE ATTRACTION
Regular trims, even during a growout phase, are a must. No matter how talented your wedding day hairstylist is, you have to give them a good base to work with. While at the salon, discuss your dream wedding day look with your stylist. They can offer tips and product recommendations to enhance your natural shine and help you achieve your #hairgoals.
TIP: To avoid wispy frizzes and breakage, reduce daily heat styling and shampooing. If your locks need extra care, try a deep conditioning treatment a month before the wedding.
CAREFUL WITH COLOR
If you regularly dye you hair, you know that nothing makes your hair look shinier and lovelier than a fresh dye job! However, we recommend sticking with colors and styles you’ve rocked before. Experimenting with dyes right before your wedding could lead to a color you really aren’t thrilled about — and we all know how difficult and damaging it can be to try and fix hair hues.
TIP: For any color processes, talk with your stylist about the best shades for you. Additionally, share details about your wedding (dress color, venue lighting, potential spray tans) with your stylist to ensure your hair complements the day’s aesthetic.
BODY BEAUTIFUL
Your face is not the only place that deserves some wedding TLC — your whole body should be pampered! To avoid skin blemishes or discoloration, regularly exfoliate with a loofah and/ or body scrub. Exfoliation washes away any dead skin and excess oils that clog pores, leaving your skin soft, smooth and glowing for your wedding.
TIP: Because your loofah helps eliminate dead skin cells, it’s a prime location for bacteria to grow. Replace your loofah monthly to prevent bacteria buildup and keep your skincare routine hygienic.
UP THE SPF
We are all about having a fun, sunkissed glow, but no tan is worth damaging your skin. And we’re not just talking about long-term damages, but immediate ones like sunburns and discoloration, too. Get into the daily habit of applying sunscreen or a moisturizer with SPF — even if it looks overcast. The American Academy of Dermatology recommends using sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher, broad-spectrum protection against UVA and UVB rays and water resistance (aad.org). Don’t forget to stay in the shade when the UV index is high!
TIP: If you’re set on having a tan for your wedding day, skip the tanning bed and consider a custom airbrush spray tan or gradual self-tanner mousse. Start testing your options a couple of months prior to make sure you’re happy with the results by the time the wedding comes along.
STRESS BUSTERS
We all know by now that exercise and physical activity help reduce stress. Regular jogging, walks outside or yoga classes can boost your mood while staying active. Often, the discussion around fitness is about changing your physical appearance, but remember to keep a productive mindset! Instead of striving for a specific appearance or goal weight, shift your focus towards overall well-being and celebrating what your body can do.
TIP: Get your heart rate up by taking dance classes. Dance classes can double as stress relief and wedding prep — learn a fun routine to wow your guests on the dance floor!
NAILED IT
More people will ask to see your ring than you could ever imagine, so make sure those nails look their best. Achieve healthy, strong and dazzling nails by scheduling routine manicure appointments. Complete with a hand massage and moisturizing treatments, manicures release the stress you’re holding in your fingers. Plus, who can resist all the fun nail polish options? Take a break from sending emails and give your hands some love.
TIP: When scheduling a manicure appointment, don’t forget to add a pampering pedicure, too. Well-hydrated feet not only look great in heels, but they are also better at resisting blisters!

GET ACCUSTOMED
If you’re considering a fresh look for your walk down the aisle, take the time to test out new beauty elements in the months leading up to your wedding. This is the perfect window to experiment with enhancements like false lashes, hair extensions or other touches you’ve been curious about. Certain beauty additions, such as hair extensions, acrylic nails or matte lipstick, may require an adjustment period. For example, if you’ve never worn false lashes, they might feel heavy or even itchy at first. But if you love how they accentuate your eyes, gradually incorporating them into your routine can help you feel comfortable by the big day.
TIP: Be open and honest with your artist(s) during your beauty trial. If something doesn’t feel or look right, share your feedback. A true professional values your honesty and will work collaboratively to create a look you both adore.
MAKE A MOOD BOARD
Describing your ideal wedding day hair and makeup can be tricky — what you envision as a smokey eye might mean something entirely different to your makeup artist! To bridge the gap, utilize reference photos. Images can articulate your vision far better than broad descriptive words like “bronzed” or “natural.”
TIP: Start a digital mood board to collect your favorite beauty looks as you find them. Whether it’s a Pinterest board, folder on your computer desktop or a “saved collection” on Instagram, having a go-to resource will help refine your style. When your beauty trial rolls around, your mood board will share your dream look for you!
POSITIVE INFLUENCES ONLY
Prioritize a supportive and positive circle of family and friends to uplift you. Planning your beauty look, researching cosmetic treatments and gathering advice can feel overwhelming, so make space for positivity. Avoid negative self-talk and

comparisons to others. It’s easier said than done, but so essential. Choose to be around people who celebrate your beauty, whether you’re glammed up or in your favorite cozy sweats.
TIP: Curate your social media to inspire, not discourage. Unfollow or mute accounts that trigger comparisons or make you feel less than your best. Even the most confident people can fall into this trap, so protect your mindset by filling your feed with empowering and uplifting content.
SWEET DREAMS
It might sound cliché, but quality sleep is your secret weapon for looking and feeling great. Dark circles and fatigue can’t be fixed overnight, so establish a healthy sleep schedule as soon as possible. Start by elevating bedtime into a luxurious ritual. This routine can include adding touches like a sound machine, silk sleep mask, earplugs, sleep-enhancing pillow mist, aromatherapy diffuser or a cozy weighted blanket. These small
indulgences will transform your sleep environment and promote a more restful night’s sleep.
TIP: If stress keeps you up at night, try natural sleep aids like melatonin, magnesium, valerian root or lavender. It’s okay to seek a little help in the name of great night’s sleep!
TO GLAM OR NOT TO GLAM
Your makeup artist likely has an array of bold, transformative looks in their portfolio, but before going all out, consider how you want to feel on your wedding day. Whether enhancing your natural features or opting for a fullglam look, the goal is to feel confident and comfortable. Remember, you don’t have to stray too far from your everyday style to create a stunning, wedding-ready appearance.
TIP: Share your typical makeup routine and the looks that make you feel best with your artist. They can elevate your everyday style into something extraordinary while still feeling authentically you. ■

SETTING SCENE THE Types of Wedding Celebration Venues
When planning their wedding, many couples start with selecting and securing their venue. After all, your venue will ultimately influence your celebration’s mood, logistics and design choices. From the rehearsal dinner to the ceremony to the reception, there are a lot of options for what your wedding landscape will be. Keep things simple and streamlined by planning all your festivities in one spot or treat your guests to several locations. Whatever you choose as your venue(s), take into account the aesthetics and overall vision, but also think about these important aspects:
• Location — How easily will guests be able to arrive and exit the venue? Is the venue located near hotels? Do you want a spot within the city or in the suburbs and beyond? How far are you willing to travel?
• Co st — Will you adjust other budget items to accommodate a specific venue? Does your desired wedding date have a higher peak-season rate?
• Amenities & Decor — How much will the venue provide, and how much will you need to bring yourself? How many restrooms are there and what are they like? Is it accessible? Is there a catering kitchen?
• Size — What is the maximum capacity? Will the venue be too large or too small for your guest list?
• Preferred Vendors — Does the venue have a list of preferred vendors you’re limited to?
• Privacy — How private or public will the venue be? Is there a risk of strangers and passersby stumbling into it? What is security like?
HOTEL OR RESORT
Wedding logistics are a breeze when you book a hotel wedding. Hosting your wedding at a hotel or resort is a great option if you anticipate a lot of out-oftown guests. On-site accommodations ease transportation needs, and it helps keep everyone in a central locale. Plus, there’s an added layer of guest safety, as no one will need to find a sober driver at the end of the night — they can just go up the elevator to their room! Many hotels and resorts offer a variety of celebration locations, like utilizing the hotel restaurant as the rehearsal dinner venue, booking a ballroom for the ceremony or making use of a hospitality suite for getting ready the day of. The value of all the amenities a hotel provides is hard to overlook!
PRIVATE RESIDENCE
Private residences have sentimental value that a standard venue can’t replicate. Since this type of venue is not open to the public, it provides a completely private and intimate experience. While this space might not cost you anything to book (if it is a residence of a family member or friend), it might not necessarily save you money. In the end, you’ll likely need to bring in external coordinators, staff, set-up crews and more to ensure the venue operates as cohesively as a dedicated event venue would. But you can’t beat the emotional value of getting married in grandma’s garden or your childhood home!

EVENT HALL
Event halls are dedicated to events and offer a turn-key location with a blank slate for you to build on. The purpose of these venues is to host events like weddings and conferences, so you can be confident they have every detail accounted for. Most event halls have an in-house team dedicated to making your wedding great. This team can include in-house catering, planners, designers and event staff. Another benefit comes with the assets. Event halls are typically equipped with a variety of necessary wedding essentials, including sound systems, furniture and basic decor.

COUNTRY CLUB
Views and greens abound! Country clubs and golf courses lend themselves to stunning panoramic photo opportunities and event backdrops, something you can’t replicate in the city. Besides the aesthetic appeal of country clubs and golf courses, these venues come with white-glove service, multiple rooms available and experienced staff and catering. Keep in mind, many country clubs host events exclusively for their members, so it’s worth checking before falling in love with a venue. That exclusivity, however, adds an extra layer of privacy and security to your special day.

HISTORIC ESTATE OR SITE
Character abounds with a historic site or estate as a venue. By leaning into the splendor of the past, you can ease up on decor rentals and let the space speak for itself. These venues typically have sweeping gardens, breathtaking architecture and the irreplaceable richness of history. If you’re looking for a timeless and welcoming venue, a historic estate might be just your style. Due to the quaint charm of the past, these venues can lack modern amenities like ample restrooms or grounded power outlets, so keep that in mind!

BREWERY OR DISTILLERY
Gilded halls and china place settings aren’t for everyone. Some couples feel more at home celebrating among wooden kegs and toasting with frothy pint glasses. A brewery or distillery wedding offers an industrial, relaxed atmosphere that feels authentic to the couple. Many breweries have on-site kitchens, perfect for creating delicious food and drink pairings. If in-house catering options are unavailable, consider local food trucks in the parking lot!

MUSEUM
While your wedding will be the masterpiece on display, a museum venue adds a layer of entertainment and culture to your festivities. Guests can meander through exhibits and immerse themselves in a unique and textured experience. Museums are also ideal for accommodating guests from different social circles, as the exhibitions can be excellent conversation starters. When your love story is a piece of art, a museum is a great setting for your celebration.

RESTAURANT
By picking a stylish restaurant, café or bar as your venue, you will have built-in decor, and of course, you know the food and drink will be spectacular. Save for any personalized details you want to decorate with, a well-dressed eatery comes with the restaurant’s existing decor and tabletop needs like silverware and plating. A restaurant wedding typically requires a smaller guest list due to venue capacity. If you want an intimate wedding that doesn’t feel empty, a restaurant or bar is perfect. However, some restaurants and bars have private rooms available for rent, while others offer the possibility to buy out the entire venue, so there’s still room for a wide headcount range.
WATERFRONT
Romanticism and tranquility come with the territory of a waterfront wedding. No matter how high your wedding-day nerves might be, ultimate relaxation comes with getting married to the sounds of trickling water or crashing waves. A waterfront wedding can take place in a variety of places, like on a yacht or private charter, on a beach, at a marina or on a dock. There are so many options in the Southeast. Opt for something on Tybee Island or plan a mini-destination wedding to Florida.
URBAN LOFT / WAREHOUSE
For a venue with texture, exposed brick and high ceilings, urban lofts or warehouses are excellent options. These non-traditional spaces offer an industrial take on a classic barn wedding. For city dwellers, choosing a warehouse venue adds an undeniable city vibe. Plus, these venues are often centrally located, providing convenient access for guests. With past lives as train depots or industrial stock houses, urban lofts and warehouses carry a unique history and charm, making them a perfect setting to begin your future together.

BARN
A bonus: you now have an automatic anniversary date night planned for years. What’s more special than celebrating in the very spot where you tied the knot?
Rustic charm and serenity come naturally at a barn or farmhouse. Barns offer a lot of space, which is ideal for large weddings, especially if you want both indoor and outdoor festivities. The outdoor grounds give space for elements like a fire pit, yard games and maybe even some barn animal cameos. And don’t feel confined by the given rustic aesthetic; these venues are versatile and can be dressed up to create an engaging juxtaposition of glamor and homespun charm. For a breath of fresh air and a step away from the hustle of city life, a barn or farmhouse is a lovely choice for a blissful wedding. ■

10 thingsTO CONSIDER WHEN MAKING YOUR GUEST LIST
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Crystal Photography
Many couples are torn between who they feel obligated to invite, how many people they can afford to invite and what type of environment they want for their special day. If you’re feeling similar stresses, you’re not alone! One of the most common pieces of feedback about the wedding planning process is the stress of creating the guest list.
To help ease this stress, here are tips and considerations for determining who will be in the audience and on the dance floor on your wedding day.
1 | VENUE CAPACITY
Your venue’s capacity is a non-negotiable factor — this isn’t an area you can flex. If your venue tells you its capacity is 100, please don’t assume 101 will be okay. Overcrowding can be an uncomfortable experience for everyone, not to mention the safety concerns. So when building your guest list, venue capacity is an essential starting parameter.
2 | CATERING BUDGET
You’ll likely know your overall wedding budget by the time you build your guest list. So to stay on track financially, calculate your caterer’s price per head and compare that to how much of your wedding budget you’ve allotted to catering. This will give you a clear idea of how many people you can afford to host, regardless of venue capacity.
3 | TIERS OF GUESTS
Divide your potential guests into tiers: “Must Have” (immediate family and close friends), “Love to Have” (extended family and acquaintances) and “If There’s Space” (coworkers and parents’ friends). Start building your guest list with the “Must
Haves” and work your way down. This will help prioritize who should be on the final list and who, unfortunately, won’t make it past the chopping block.
4 | CURATION IS KEY
Don’t feel obligated to invite everyone you know! This is your wedding, you’re not obligated to invite people whose RSVP response doesn’t really matter to you. Think, “Will I be sad if Jack and Jill can’t make it?” If the answer is “no” and your guest list is already tight, Jack and Jill don’t have to make the final cut.
5 | ADULTS ONLY?
Early on, decide with your partner on a child policy. Part of this means considering who might be unable to attend if children are NOT invited (childcare is hard to coordinate, especially if traveling). Having an adults-only celebration is an easy way to keep your guest list slim. However, executing a child-free embargo might not be an option depending on your family dynamics. If this is the case, try setting an age limit for children in attendance; for instance, “children over age six are welcome.”
6 | PARENTAL PARAMETERS
If you feel your guest list is getting too long, consider giving
your parents a guest list allowance. Assign a set number of people they can invite to prevent things from getting out of hand — and ensure you don’t end up with a wedding full of strangers! If things get sticky, have an open discussion with your parents to understand their expectations and make compromises where possible.
7 | PLUS-ONE
The age-old question is: Should you allow plus-ones or not? A common rule is to allow plus-ones for everyone in your wedding party, married duos, engaged folks and long-term couples. However, if you have the wiggle room in your venue capacity and budget for more attendees, allowing single friends to bring a guest is a kind gesture.
The most important rule of plusones is to be clear about your policy, especially on the invitation. If you’re allowing a guest to bring an unknown
date, write your guest’s name and then “and guest” on their invitation.
8 | USE A SPREADSHEET
Spreadsheets are your friends! Create a detailed spreadsheet to track your guest list, RSVP status and meal preferences. This will help keep everything organized and ensure no one is forgotten. Plus, it’s a great way to keep track of addresses for when you send out thank-you notes afterward.
9 | SAVE-THE-DATE WITH CERTAINTY
Only send save-the-dates to people you are certain will be invited. This avoids any awkward conversations or hurt feelings later if your guest list needs to be trimmed. You can always send an official invite later, but it is much more difficult to un-extend an invitation.
10 | KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON
Guest list stresses don’t have to consume your planning experience. To keep things manageable, take breaks! As your wedding plans evolve, revisit and revise the list periodically, making adjustments based on new information or changing circumstances. And don’t forget to order a few extra invitations to accommodate any last-minute additions.
Go ahead and accept that you can’t and won’t please everyone. Instead, focus on what will make you and your partner the happiest. Don’t hesitate to consult with friends, family or your wedding planner for advice and support. Sometimes an outside perspective can provide valuable clarity.
Finally, remember why you’re getting married. The most important thing is celebrating your love and commitment, not the size of the guest list. ■

POUR YOUR HEART OUT ON PAPER AND START YOUR WEDDING DAY WITH THE BEAUTY OF HANDWRITTEN NOTIONS
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Heirloom Foto
Your future spouse is the one you instinctively seek comfort from, especially during your most emotional moments. Your wedding morning will undoubtedly be a day where emotions are high! As your wedding day nerves are coursing, you might long for nothing more than to embrace your partner in a big, warm hug. But with wedding preparations in full swing, you and your wedding parties will be busy getting glammed up! Instead of spending the morning physically together, make your presence known through a heartfelt, handwritten note.
The tradition of exchanging letters with your partner on your wedding day has stood the test of time. Sure, it might feel old-fashioned to dust off the stationery set and find a pen that still has ink, but don’t overlook this gesture.
For many, articulating their true emotions can be challenging. Yet, expressing yourself through written words on paper can offer a sense of ease. Not only will it allow for more thoughtful phrasing, but the letter itself can be treasured and revisited throughout the wedding morning and for years to come. By putting your feelings of love into writing, you ensure that the words endure in a way spoken phrases may not. As the years pass, your love will mature, but the sentiments expressed in these letters will serve as a poignant reminder of the feelings you experienced on your wedding day.
Just as with wedding vows, the content and style of these letters can vary. Some couples prefer to write poetic and romantic letters, while others lean towards light-hearted and humorous notes. Unlike vows, which require a polished and suitable tone for all attendees, your wedding morning letter can include intimate details and private notions. The key is to be genuine and capture the essence of your relationship to the best of your abilities.
As you write your letter, here are eight things to consider when putting pen to paper:
1. Reflect on your relationship: Take some time to think about your journey as a couple, from when you first met to the sweet moments that have brought you to this day. Reflect on the special memories, challenges you’ve overcome together and reasons why you love your partner.
2. Think about what your partner wants to read: Your tone can be romantic, poetic, sincere or even inject a touch of humor. When deciding what tone to go with, think about what will resonate most with your partner. While you might be a natural jokester, if your partner loves
“
” ... the letter itself can be treasured and revisited ...
a sappy declaration, try to cater your letter to what they will appreciate reading the most.
3. Find a quiet and comfortable space: As you sit down to write, choose a peaceful and undisturbed space where you can let your thoughts flow freely. Create an ambiance that helps you feel relaxed and inspired, which can include lighting candles or playing your favorite songs. Pick a space with a natural writing surface, like a table or desk. Writing in your lap might be comfy, but you want your handwriting to be legible!
4. Express your love and gratitude: Write about how much you love and appreciate your partner, highlighting the qualities that make them special to you. You may often tell your significant other you love them, but how often do you tell them you’re thankful for their partnership? Express gratitude for their presence in your life and the joy they bring.
5. Show, don’t tell: Instead of saying how much you love and appreciate them, show them with recountings of your favorite memories. Recall and describe cherished moments and experiences you’ve shared. It
could be about the day you met, a memorable trip or just an everyday household moment that defines your relationship.
6. Talk about the future: Express your hopes and dreams for your future together. Discuss the life you envision as a married couple, the goals you want to achieve and the adventures you wish to embark on. Share your commitment to supporting each other through thick and thin.
7. Write about your excitement for the day: Express your anticipation for the wedding day itself. Share your anticipation about exchanging vows, celebrating with loved ones and officially beginning your life together. Let your partner know how much you’re looking forward to marrying them in the time-honored wedding tradition.
8. End with a loving closing: Conclude the letter with a heartfelt conclusion. Your partner will probably read the letter more than once throughout the morning, but this final sentiment will be the one that lingers. In the closing, authentically convey your everlasting love and commitment and sign the letter with your name or special nickname. ■

represented in the festivities one way or another.
INVITE THEM FOR THE PHOTOS
Maybe having your pet in attendance for the whole wedding isn’t the right fit. But one option is to coordinate with your pet sitter to bring them to your wedding during your scheduled photo time. Having your pet in some of your wedding photos will be a priceless keepsake!
SPECIALTY COCKTAIL NAME
Dedicate a cocktail or two to your furry friend(s) by including them on the bar menu. Go simple with a name like “The Fido” or get creative with a play on words.

CUSTOM NAPKINS
What’s more charming than a personalized napkin featuring a portrait of your pet? Include stacks of these at the reception bar, at the dessert table or even as a departing gift for guests to take home.
“DOGGIE BAG”
As guests leave the wedding, invite them to take a “doggie bag” of cat or dog treats with them — a gift from your pet to theirs.
STATIONERY ILLUSTRATIONS
Make your stationery stand out with pet illustrations. This can add an artistic touch to your wedding invitations, save-the-dates and other paper goods. Plus, the illustration will make for a special keepsake for years to come.
PHOTO BOOTH PROPS
Whiskers might not be in attendance, but his/her presence will be known! Create photo booth props of your pets so that they get to be in your guests’ photos and very much a part of the big day.

lost loves
Your wedding day is a time of celebration, but it can be challenging to feel truly joyous in the absence of a loved one. However, incorporating meaningful moments or gestures into your wedding can be a beautiful way to honor their memory. Whether you opt to commemorate them publicly or privately, consider including their impact on you in some way.
SAVE A SEAT
Even though they may not be present physically, your loved one can still have a special place at your wedding. Consider placing a framed photo, corsage or another meaningful item on a designated seat during your ceremony to honor their memory and acknowledge their absence.
MEMORIAM TABLE
Create a special space at your reception by setting up a table filled with framed photos of the person or people you are honoring. Display a selection of your favorite photos and consider using their wedding photos, if applicable, for an extra special touch.
LIGHT A CANDLE
The practice of lighting a candle in honor of a loved one who has passed away is a time-honored tradition found across many cultures and eras. It is a meaningful way to symbolize the ongoing connection between this world and the afterlife. Consider keeping a candle lit throughout your wedding day, or speak to your officiant about incorporating a candle lighting ritual into your ceremony.
HEIRLOOMS
Keep the memory of your late loved one close to you on your wedding day by incorporating their heirlooms
or sentimental trinkets. You can wrap their handkerchief or rosary around the bouquet handle, or attach a locket with their photo to your bouquet, dress lining or suit lapel.
IN LIEU OF GIFTS
As traditional gift registries are declining in popularity, consider asking your guests to donate to your late loved one’s favorite charity instead of bringing gifts. You can include a sign at the gift and guestbook table that requests a donation in place of gifts, along with a note that explains the significance of the charity to your friend or family member.
ON THE MENU
If you want to honor a passed loved one who had good taste, consider incorporating their favorite dishes or drinks. Whether you use Grandma’s favorite cookie recipe to complete your dessert table or name a cocktail after Dad’s go-to drink order —whatever it is, your guests will enjoy this thoughtful nod.

kids
Whether you already have children together, younger siblings or are part of a blended family, including the kids most special to you on your wedding day is important. While a full wedding day might not be thrilling to a little one, use these options to make sure all your guests — no matter their age — feel welcome and ready to celebrate.
CEREMONY ROLES
Depending on the child’s personality and outgoingness, inviting them to speak in the ceremony is a fun touch. This can be as complex as having them prepare a speech or simply having them read a poem or scripture. And of course, we can’t forget the crucial role of being a flower girl or ring bearer!
KIDS-ONLY SWEET TREATS
Traditionally, it is common for weddings to have a dedicated cake for both spouses. Feel free to keep the two cakes, but also consider a kids’ cake — or even cupcakes! Any excuse to have a confetti cake and some sprinkles, right?
ENTERTAIN WITH GAMES
Let’s be honest, weddings might be arduous for some kids. Give the adult day some youthful fun by offering games and activities. This can include wedding-themed coloring pages and word searches, an I-Spy Bingo board, kid-friendly snack packs or backyard games like jumbo Jenga.
CAKE TASTING
This might be the kid’s favorite part of the whole wedding process! Inviting them to your cake tasting will let them know they are involved in the wedding and that their opinions are valued in this marriage.
DECORATORS
What could be sweeter than crayon-illustrated table name cards? If your wedding has a more relaxed air to it, don’t be afraid to let your special children join in on the decorating. This could mean giving them the task of sprinkling flower petals/confetti throughout or allowing them to get creative in outfitting the photo booth. Kids are great at thinking outside of the box, so you might as well tap into that creativity! ■

A PLANNER’S GUIDE TO DESTINATION WEDDINGS
Love You WHERE TAKES
WRITTEN BY Jacqueline “Jax” Vizcaino, Tinted Events Design and Planning
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Memories By Lindsay
Planning a destination wedding opens the door to exciting possibilities, from choosing a dream location to creating unforgettable memories for you and your guests. As the founder of Tinted Events Design and Planning, I’ve realized that destination weddings aren’t limited to far-off islands or European villas. Even cities like Atlanta can serve as incredible destination wedding hubs.
In fact, more than half of my clients are planning weddings in Atlanta while living elsewhere. Why have their wedding in Atlanta or Georgia? Some grew up here and wish to return to the southern comfort of home, while others attended college at one of Georgia’s many renowned institutions like UGA, Georgia Tech, Morehouse College or Spelman. Now, for those with no roots in Georgia, the reason is plain and simple: Atlanta is one of the easiest and most economical places for guests from around the world to travel to and still make the wedding weekend feel like an experience. Recognizing these trends inspired me to re-evaluate my planning process to cater to couples marrying in unfamiliar locations while ensuring a seamless, stress-free experience.
Here are some key strategies and tips I’ve developed for planning destination weddings in Atlanta and beyond, from Florida to Europe and even the Caribbean.
ALIGNING WITH A TRUSTED PLANNER
The foundation of a successful destination wedding lies in partnering with a planner who truly understands your vision. This relationship hinges on three crucial elements: vision, communication and the fine details.
Vision: A planner who connects with your ideas becomes your greatest champion, ensuring a cohesive and memorable experience. Share your inspirations openly — everything from mood boards to guest experience goals and ambiance. A planner aligned with your vision can craft a cohesive and unforgettable aesthetic.
Communication: Equally as important as the overall vision is maintaining clear communication with your planner. Early in the planning process, be sure to establish open lines of dialogue, discussing your expectations, budget, preferences and priorities. Additionally, regular check-ins help keep everything on track and ensure your planner stays aligned with your expectations.
Fine Details: Your planner isn’t just a logistics expert — they’re your guest experience ambassador and are crucial in making your guests feel welcomed and appreciated. From coordinating travel itineraries to assembling personalized welcome packages, these thoughtful
touches elevate the experience for everyone involved. Additionally, a destination planner will anticipate lastminute changes and address any issues discreetly, ensuring a seamless process.
SETTING REALISTIC BUDGET EXPECTATIONS
Setting a realistic budget is crucial for planning a destination wedding. This step requires balancing cost and value, something your planner can research and help you understand. Your planner will guide you on average investment tiers for services in your chosen location, ensuring your budget prioritizes what’s most important to you.
Remember, “cost” refers to the actual price for services or products, while “value” encompasses the overall quality you receive. Investing in reputable, highquality vendors may require a higher upfront cost, but they often bring peace of mind and can prevent costly issues down the road. Look beyond cost alone — evaluate vendor proposals based on reliability, reviews and the value of what each vendor offers. When you focus on value, you ensure that your wedding day is as you envisioned without compromising on the elements that matter most to you and your guests.
To manage your budget effectively, explore flexible payment plans or early payment discounts offered by vendors. This approach can ease financial strain and help you stay on track with a better budget management.
THOROUGH VENUE AND VENDOR RESEARCH
Whether it’s an estate in Tuscany, a secluded beach in the Caribbean or a rustic barn in the Midwest, orienting yourself when vetting even the most breathtaking venues or vendors hinges on the right vetting. It’s not just about choosing a beautiful setting or pretty pictures; work needs to happen! Be sure to read reviews and testimonials to gauge what stands out — both in the benefits of working with those vendors and in potential red flags.
For venues, review their portfolio to ensure it matches the overall desired aesthetic.
Your planner can conduct site visits to assess ambiance, logistic, and services, but here are a few key questions to consider when evaluating venues:
• What is the venue’s recommended capacity for an ideal guest experience?
• Do you have an in-house venue coordinator?
• Will the venue be able to execute the program I have in mind?
• What is their emergency protocol?
• What do they have in place for backup protocol if you are hit by inclement weather and cannot get married in the garden courtyard as you’d envisioned?
• Are there any preferred vendor policies I should be aware of?
• Does this location have any noise ordinances or local events that could affect the wedding?
• What do I need to know about set-up and breakdown timeline at the venue? (This influences your day-of
timeline and what you can [or can’t] ask of your vendors.)
UNDERSTANDING & CLARIFY CONTRACT DETAILS
Contracts are your roadmap for a smooth wedding planning process, especially with destination weddings! Each contract should clearly outline services, costs and conditions. Pay close attention to the fine print and clarify any confusing language, as you are responsible for ensuring you understand all the clauses and conditions in your contracts.
Here at Tinted Events, whenever we have a Full-Service Planning Collection event in another country, we include a wedding team member on the ground of that country. This allows us to review the contract and translated version — because what we are accustomed to in the United States isn’t usual and customary everywhere. Watch out for any confusing or complicated language (and this will happen!) — if any terms seem unclear, ask for clarification or consult a legal professional.
NAVIGATE WEDDING LOGISTICS LIKE A PRO
A detailed timeline is crucial for keeping your wedding day on track. Collaborate with your planner to confirm vendor schedules, from setup times to key milestones. This includes kick-off time, load-in schedules, setup times (note how long each vendor needs to set up!) and service details. Gone are the days when every vendor sets up at the last minute, and you cross your fingers that it all comes together somehow! Regular communication ensures everyone understands their role in creating a seamless event.
About the Author
Finally, as the date approaches, use this checklist to finalize details once more:
Re-read vendor contracts and confirm all bookings
Confirm payments/payment plans to vendors
Conduct a walk-through with key vendors (like caterers and florists)
Update your guest list and seating chart as needed
Contact vendors to clarify any potential misunderstandings about services or special arrangements you’ve made
Check all transportation schedules for the ceremony, the bridal party, and any out-of-town guests
If you’re having a special ceremony or some other surprise entertainment and have a contact for them, re-check with them again.
Ensure everyone involved in your special day has the latest information on any changes you’ve made to the plan.
Double and triple-check it all!
Planning a destination wedding — whether in Atlanta or abroad — is a rewarding journey. By staying organized, collaborating with trusted professionals and focusing on what matters most, you’ll create a celebration that’s not just a single day but an unforgettable experience for everyone involved. ■

Is a Destination Wedding Right for You?
Are you dreaming of saying “I do” against a backdrop of turquoise waters or amidst the stunning scenery of lush jungles, surrounded by your loved ones? Before you pack your bags and jet off to a romantic locale, it’s essential to consider whether a destination wedding is the right choice for you. Let’s explore the key factors that can help you decide if this type of celebration is your perfect match.
Is a Destination Wedding Right for You?
Destination weddings offer a blend of adventure and romance, but they’re not one-size-fits-all solutions. Think about your priorities: Are you dreaming of a grand, yet intimate gathering? Does wanderlust define your love story? Do you value creating an unforgettable experience over a one-day event? Will travel be inevitable for you and your guests? If you’re nodding “yes” to any of these questions, a destination wedding could just be your perfect fit. After all, it’s an opportunity to turn your wedding into a remarkable journey for all.
Is It Selfish to Have a Destination Wedding?
Concerns about time and money often lead people to label destination weddings as inconsiderate, but consider the flip side. You’re offering guests a unique and unforgettable experience. To ease concerns, start with open, honest
conversations with the people who matter most — parents, siblings, grandparents and close friends. If they’re on board, it sets a positive tone for your plans.
Additionally, providing ample notice for guests to plan accordingly is key. Transparency and understanding pave the way for a collective decision that respects everyone’s feelings. Ultimately, it’s your special day, and those who truly matter will be thrilled to share it with you — no matter the destination.
Is It Worth Having a Destination Wedding?
Absolutely! A destination wedding offers more than just a ceremony; it’s a multi-day celebration that creates lasting memories. If you’re seeking a wedding that transcends the ordinary, with every moment infused with the magic of your chosen location, then a destination wedding is undoubtedly worth it. It’s an investment in unforgettable experiences, intimate moments, and a celebration unlike any other.
What Kind of People Have Destination Weddings?
Destination weddings are not exclusive to any particular group; they attract couples who want something unique. They’re perfect for modern couples who prioritize experiences over traditions, have a love for travel and want an extended celebration. Whether you’re a laid-back beach lover or someone enchanted by cultural richness, destination weddings offer a

special charm. From intimate gatherings to grand celebrations, they appeal to a diverse range of people looking to create something truly extraordinary.
Deciding whether a destination wedding is right for you involves selfreflection, open communication and a shared vision with your loved ones. It’s not just a celebration; it’s a journey, an experience and the perfect way to start your happily ever after in a meaningful place. If you’re ready to embrace a wedding that transcends the ordinary, then a destination wedding might just be the magical chapter your love story deserves.
Are You Ready to Embark on Your Destination Wedding Journey?
If the allure of a destination wedding has captured your heart, it’s time to turn those dreams into reality. With expert guidance from a destination wedding planner, your celebration will reflect your love story and leave you with memories to cherish forever. ■

HOW A WEDDING PLANNER CAN MAKE YOUR BIG DAY A DREAMCOME-TRUE
PLANNER Fox & Quinn
PHOTOGRAPHY
BY Tay Tesvich Photo
Arranging all the place settings and making an extra one for your college roommate’s plusone (who wasn’t even on the guest list). Checking every bathroom stall to ensure there’s enough toilet paper. Verifying that the DJ has the right electricity hookups. Sewing a button onto the best man’s suit. Driving back to the hotel to grab the right pair of undergarments (no, not the polka-dot ones).
Is this how you envision your wedding morning checklist? If you’re thinking “heck no!” (and who could blame you?), then it’s time to seriously consider hiring a wedding planner. From the dress to the decorations, the venue to the catering, there are so many pieces that need to be overseen to ensure that your big day is everything you dreamed of. A professional wedding planner can handle the details, both big and small, leaving you free to relax and enjoy your special day.
planned
A WEDDING PLANNER IS THE MASTERMIND WHO MAKES THE MAGIC HAPPEN. “ ”
YOU ’ VE GOT OPTIONS
There are various tiers of wedding planning services available, each providing a different level of involvement, support and financial obligation. From full-service planning to day-of coordination, you’ve got options! Before hiring a wedding planner, it’s important to determine how much you’re willing to borrow from your budget and how much help you really need. Typically, comprehensive wedding planning services cost between 10-20% of your total budget. Once you have a clear understanding of how much planning you can take on and how much you want to outsource, you can start looking for a wedding planner who offers the level of assistance that meets your needs.
RELAX
One of the key advantages of hiring a wedding planner is that they can help you manage stress and “what could go wrong?” worries. Planning a wedding is a significant occasion, and it’s normal to feel overwhelmed and a bit frazzled. A wedding planner can help ease some of this pressure by handling all the
particulars and ensuring everything runs smoothly. They can also help you manage any unforeseen problems that emerge, allowing you to focus on remembering the steps to your choreographed first dance. Weddings involve a lot of moving pieces, which means a few minor hiccups are inevitable. Many planners have already addressed a range of crises, many of which happen without the couple even knowing what occurred. From a wedding cake melting in the sun to the bridal gown’s zipper splitting moments before walking down the aisle, wedding planners are natural problem solvers ready to hop into action. They come equipped with sewing kits and super glue and are two steps ahead of any snafu. The time your wedding planner spends serving Liquid I.V. to the best man to prevent a drunken speech is worth every penny spent.
FINANCIAL AND CONTRACTUAL
Weddings often require a significant financial investment, even for small, backyard affairs. When it comes to
budgeting, it can be tempting to skimp on hiring a wedding planner and allocate those funds elsewhere. However, not hiring a professional planner can actually end up costing you more in the long run. Their expertise and experience helps avoid expensive mistakes, such as ending up paying overtime because you didn’t calculate the timeline properly. They can also help you negotiate better deals with vendors, making sure you get the best value. So, before opting to forgo a planner, consider the savings and peace of mind they can bring to your big day.
TIME IS MONEY
Hiring a wedding planner can help you save time. Planning a wedding is a demanding and intricate process, and it can be hard to balance all the different elements while also sticking to your budget. Effectively manage your time with the assistance of a wedding planner. They’ll ensure every detail is attended to, relieving you of concerns about overlooking anything. They can recommend vendors

and services that align with your vision and budget, saving you the time and effort of researching and vetting them yourself. With a wedding planner on your team, you can focus on enjoying your engagement and preparing for your big day, while leaving the details and logistics to a professional.
VISION MEETS REALITY
You may have been dreaming of your wedding day since long before you even found your partner. Maybe you have a Pinterest board with years’ worth of ideas, overflowing with inspiration. Or perhaps you don’t have any specific details in mind beyond a general vibe or feeling.
While it’s fun to live in wedding dreamland, bringing that vision to life is another story. One of the greatest benefits of a good wedding planner is their ability to listen to your wishes — however detailed or vague they may be — and then turn those requests into something real. Wedding inspiration can turn into an untamed beast — how do you pick a color palette that evokes the emotions you haven’t found words for yet? How do you achieve Edward and Bella’s wisteria-drenched ceremony within your budget? A wedding planner has the know-how to take your feelings and turn them into a tangible, cohesive wedding.
PERSONAL MEDIATOR
A good wedding planner also knows the difference between dreams and reality. Your budget may not line up with a replica of Sofia Richie Grainge’s South of France nuptials. However, a planner can help manipulate your budget and offer creative solutions while keeping things realistic.
It’s important to note that you shouldn’t expect your wedding planner to save you money when it comes to negotiating contracts. While your planner may have a working relationship with a company that could involve special pricing, a discount should never be expected. These vendors set their prices where they are for a reason!
Although weddings are all about a celebration of love, they also are apt to uncover unique conflicts. Bringing together two families is inherently tricky and when you add in all the logistical details, budget and personal feelings, situations can get sticky. This is where a wedding planner can act as a mediator. If you don’t want to upset your future mother-in-law by telling her that the peach dahlias she keeps insisting on are not your vibe, your wedding planner can handle these conversations tactfully and without it feeling personal. A wedding planner can help ensure that everyone is on the same page, and that potential conflicts are resolved before they have a chance to escalate and spoil your special day.
PROS KNOW BEST
Having a wedding planner gives you unique access to their network of contacts and resources. Wedding planners work with a wide range of vendors, from seamstresses and photographers to catering staff and lighting technicians. They know which vendor teams have the best reputations, which ones are in-budget and which
ones are a perfect fit for your specific vision. If you have a particular or unique theme in mind, your planner can help you identify vendors who specialize in that style and have experience creating it. They can also provide insights into the latest trends in weddings, so you can ensure your special day is as unique as you’d like it to be. By tapping into a wedding planner’s network and experience, you can navigate the world of wedding vendors with ease.
THE DAY-OF DETAILS
Perhaps the biggest service a wedding planner can provide is coordinating the actual wedding day. From what time your hair and makeup should be completed by to sending the wedding party down the aisle, a wedding planner has the expertise and knowledge to ensure a seamless flow of events. Hiring a wedding planner also frees up your family members to enjoy your day, instead of putting them to work. Your maid-of-honor deserves to relax and enjoy your wedding day, too! And you certainly cannot coordinate your reception setup while you’re busy exchanging vows.
Although a talented wedding planner makes it look effortless, it takes a lot of work and expertise to execute a fairytale wedding. Even the most organized of couples may struggle to enjoy their special day if they are also trying to manage it. Before you make any other decisions, prioritize hiring a wedding planner. As you set your budget, make sure there is room in it to cover the level of service needed.
Even if you’ve attended dozens of weddings, a professional wedding planner offers an unparalleled level of experience and expertise. Simply put, they know more than you! From venue selection to crafting the day-of timeline, a wedding planner is the mastermind who makes the magic happen. Are you ready to cross off some tasks on your wedding to-do list and hire a wedding planner yet? ■

EXPLORING THE VARIOUS TIERS OF WEDDING PLANNING SERVICES
Planning your wedding should be as exciting as saying “yes!” — not stressful. Luckily, there are different levels of wedding planning services to fit any need and budget. Let’s break down the main options: full-service planner, partial-service planner, month-of coordinator, day-of coordinator and venue coordinator. Each tier offers a unique level of support, so you can find the perfect fit for your big day.
FULL-SERVICE PLANNING
If you dream of a seamless, personalized wedding without lifting a finger, a fullservice wedding planner is your best friend. In short, a full-service wedding planner is the most comprehensive tier of planner. They’re your go-to for everything from brainstorming details to packing up after the last dance. This option is perfect for busy couples or those wanting a custom, top-notch wedding experience.
Responsible for:
• Planning: This includes managing every aspect of the wedding from start to finish, including budgeting, vendor selection, design and logistics.
• Coordination: They manage all vendors, ensuring everyone is aligned.
• Design and Decor: They’ll create a cohesive look, source decorations, and certain planners even handle floral arrangements themselves.
• Rehearsals and Events: Organizing
rehearsal dinners and other prewedding events typically comes with the territory!
• Day-of Management: They ensure everything runs smoothly, handling any hiccups on the big day. Any issues that may arise will be handled, possibly without you or your partner ever being aware of them, allowing you to enjoy your day peacefully.
PARTIAL SERVICE PLANNER
A partial-service planner is like a friendly guide stepping in when you need them. They offer flexible services tailored to your specific needs, making them ideal if you’ve started planning but need help with certain aspects or have hit a roadblock. This type of planner is also great for those wanting professional advice and assistance without the comprehensive service of a full planner.
Responsible for:
• Customizable Planning: Pick and choose areas where you need help the most.
• Vendor Recommendations: They provide trusted and vetted vendor lists but don’t manage every detail.
• Design Assistance: They’ll refine your vision and offer execution advice.
• Logistics Support: They help with key logistical elements like timelines and budget tracking.
MONTH-OF COORDINATOR
A month-of coordinator steps in about a month before the wedding to tie up any loose ends and make sure your plans come to life smoothly. Their tier of service is perfect for couples who’ve done most of the planning but want expert help to ensure everything goes off without a hitch.
Responsible for:
• Preparation: They step in 4-6 weeks before the wedding to finalize details.
• Vendor Coordination: Confirming details and creating a timeline for the big day.
• Day-of Management: They manage the wedding day, ensuring everything runs according to plan.

DAY-OF COORDINATOR
For the couple who has done all the planning but wants to relax and enjoy their day, a day-of coordinator is a lifesaver. This type of planner ensures your vision is executed without you having to sweat the details. This option is also great for those on a tight budget who still want professional assistance on their wedding day.
Responsible for:
• Pre-Wedding Preparation: They meet with you a few times to understand your plans and gather essential information.
• Vendor Coordination: Confirming details with vendors in the week leading up to the wedding.
• Day-of Management: Overseeing the wedding day from start to finish, managing any issues and ensuring the timeline is followed.
VENUE COORDINATOR
A venue coordinator is not a wedding planner. However, we included them on this list because many couples mistake their venue’s staff for planning assistance. Often part of the venue package, a venue coordinator focuses on venue-specific details. They handle logistics related to the venue itself, ensuring everything is set up and runs according to plan ... but they are not wedding planners!
Responsible for:
• Venue Management: They oversee aspects related to the venue itself (load-in/load-out, staffing, electricity, etc.).
• Logistics: Ensuring the venue setup matches your specifications and that rules are followed.
• Vendor Coordination: They may coordinate with vendors, but only regarding venue operations.
• Day-of Support: Providing support on the wedding day but within the scope of the venue’s services.
With these options in mind, you can choose the level of support that fits your style and needs, ensuring your wedding day is everything you’ve dreamed of — and more. Happy planning! ■
BUDGET BASICS:
REALLY AFFECTS YOUR WEDDING COSTS?
WRITTEN BY Gloria Schulz, Gloria Schulz Events
“How much will my wedding cost?” — as a wedding planner, I hear this question a lot! While the answer varies based on several factors, three key elements tend to have the biggest impact on the overall budget. By understanding these factors, you’ll be better equipped to plan and allocate your resources wisely. Here are the top three areas we recommend prioritizing:
1. Guest List Siz e 2. Venue Choice 3. Wedding Date
Let’s dive into why these pieces impact your wedding budget and offer some tips for managing costs along the way.
RACHEL MONTEAGUDO PHOTOGRAPHY
HALEY JAMES
GUEST LIST SIZE
We know how quickly a guest list can expand as you consider family and friends from both sides. However, a larger guest list significantly impacts your catering and beverage costs. More mouths to feed requires a bigger budget! Plus, more guests means more tables, which translates to more flower arrangements, linens and decor. Plus, you’ll have more invitations to get printed and mail out. Postage does add up!
On average, wedding costs range anywhere from $500 to over $1,000 per guest. Depending on how many vendors you book (most weddings have an average of eight vendors), your budget can easily grow by 25% as you move through the planning process. For example, if you’re hosting 200 guests at $1,000 per person, that’s a total budget of $200,000. Since unexpected expenses often arise, we recommend starting with a budget that feels comfortable. Be realistic, but also be prepared for slight increases as you finalize details.
1 2
VENUE
CHOICE
Your venue will be one of the biggest expenses, so it’s important to avoid becoming “venue-poor” right off the bat. Spending all of your money on the venue and then struggling to afford other vendors later on is not a good way to start. Plus, it can lead to budget challenges as you move forward. Ideally, do your homework and choose a venue that includes the essentials, like tables and chairs, to help keep costs in check.
The day of the week you choose for your wedding also plays a big role in the overall venue cost. Saturdays are prime wedding days and often come with a higher price tag, while Fridays and Sundays are usually more affordable. I recommend visiting four to five venues and comparing their pricing for the different days to find the best fit for your budget.

WEDDING DATE
Just like vacations, weddings are seasonal. For instance, if you’re planning a beach getaway for the 4th of July, you can expect to pay a higher price. Similarly, if you’re eyeing October — the height of wedding season — be prepared for premium rates. Off-peak times like winter or summer often offer lower rates for both venues and vendors.
Holidays also can be more expensive. While it might seem convenient to have your wedding on a holiday weekend, keep in mind
that vendor fees tend to be higher, especially for dates like Mother’s Day (when florals are in high demand) or New Year’s Eve. Vendors often need to pay their staff holiday rates, which adds to your overall costs. To save, consider opting for an off-season date and avoiding holiday weekends.
Wedding costs can feel overwhelming, but with diligent planning, you can keep them manageable. While today’s economy does affect wedding prices,
About the Author
remember that the vendors you hire are professionals with valuable experience and the services they provide are worth the investment. Their hard work is what turns your dream wedding into a reality.
I hope this breakdown of key budget factors helps you plan your big day. For the best planning experience, I recommend hiring a professional wedding planner who can guide you every step of the way, ensuring your budget aligns with your vision. ■

THE OF FLOWERS
F or centuries, flowers have spoken a romantic secret language. Floriography, the practice of using flowers for coded communication, originated in ancient times and peaked in the 1800s. Also known as the “Victorian language of flowers,” this practice allowed people to communicate intimate feelings at a time when social etiquette limited direct expression of emotions.
In Victorian England, long before the advent of text messaging and FaceTime, flowers served as intimate messengers. Numerous floral dictionaries published at the time cracked the codes, detailing the meanings of blooms and enabling discreet communication.
Though times have changed and we can express feelings openly today, incorporating this silent dialogue into your wedding adds a romantic touch. Understanding the symbolism behind different flowers can infuse your wedding day with personal significance. Here’s a guide to the meanings of some popular wedding flowers:

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT
flower preservation
Your wedding day is a whirlwind of joy, laughter and unforgettable moments. While your photos and memories will last a lifetime, there’s something particularly special about holding onto the physical mementos from that day. And few things carry the same emotional weight as your wedding flowers. From the bouquet you held down the aisle to the blooms that adorned your reception tables, flowers are a tangible representation of the beauty and emotions of your day. But what happens to these precious petals after the celebration? This is where flower preservation steps in — allowing you to hold onto a piece of your wedding forever.
At Peachy Petals, preserving flowers from your wedding is more than just creating a keepsake. It’s about capturing a moment in time and creating an heirloom you can cherish for years. This guide will walk you through the different preservation options available, the logistics of keeping your flowers fresh and how to create lasting gifts from your blooms.
FLOWER PRESERVATION OPTIONS
When considering how to preserve your wedding flowers, you’ll find a variety of methods. Each offers a unique way to commemorate your day, and choosing the method that aligns with your style and vision is essential. Here’s a quick overview of the most popular options:
1. Pressed Flowers
Pressing flowers is a timeless method that involves flattening blooms between layers of paper or within a press to preserve
their color and shape. At Peachy Petals, we specialize in pressed flower art, creating stunning frames and displays that turn your bouquet into a work of art.
Pros: A sleek, timeless look that can be readily displayed on any wall and allows for intricate floral details to be showcased well.
Cons: The flat design may not capture the full depth and dimension of larger blooms, such as pincushions or proteas.
2. 3D Arrangements
The 3D Arrangement method keeps bouquets intact by airdrying or freeze-drying the flowers and maintaining their natural shape. The dried flowers are then placed in shadow boxes or dome displays.
Pros: Retains the full shape and texture of your bouquet, creating an authentic representation of your wedding florals.
Cons: Bulkier to display, and some flowers may lose their color or shrink during the drying process.
3. Resin
For this method, flowers are set in a block of resin, preserving their shape and color in a more modern form.
Pros: Keeps the flowers’ shape and texture intact while allowing them to be transformed into functional decor pieces.
WRITTEN BY Elisabeth Russell, Peachy Petals | PHOTOGRAPHY BY Abby Byrd Photography
Cons: Resin can yellow over time, air bubbles may occur during the process, and this method is typically more expensive than others.
Each method can be customized to your preferences. Whether you prefer a 2D pressed display for your wall or a 3D arrangement in a shadow box, your wedding flowers can live on in a beautiful form that fits your personal style.
LOGISTICS AND FLOWER CARE
Flower preservation is a delicate process, and timing is everything! Make arrangements with your preservationist as soon as possible — definitely before your wedding day. At Peachy Petals, we recommend booking your spot 8 to 12 weeks ahead of your big day so we can discuss your vision and ensure your flowers are handled with care.
Tips for Keeping Flowers Fresh:
• Day-of Care: Keep your bouquet in water whenever you are not holding it. Ensure someone is designated to place the flowers in water during the reception and avoid using your real flowers for the bouquet toss.
• Hydration: Keep the flowers in water for as long as possible before handing them off to your preservationist. This ensures the blooms retain their color and structure.
• S torage: Store your bouquet in a cool place, away from direct sunlight and heat, which can cause wilting.
These simple steps will go a long way in ensuring your flowers look just as stunning in their preserved form as they did on your wedding day.
TIMELINE
Decide on flower preservation a few months prior to your wedding. After your big day, the preservation process should begin within a day or two of the event to ensure the flowers are in optimal condition. Waiting until the last minute can be stressful (for you and the preservationist), not to mention artists may be at capacity and unable to accept your flowers. If you intend to ship your bouquet
or schedule a drop-off, make sure you have a plan to keep the flowers hydrated and cool until then. I recommend appointing a trusted bridesmaid or family member to take on “flower duty,” ensuring your bouquet remains hydrated and reaches the preservation studio safely.
FLOWER SELECTION
Incorporating a larger variety of flowers into your bouquet can create a more dynamic and visually interesting preserved piece. Different shapes, sizes and colors work together to enhance the overall aesthetic, adding depth and character to the final product. We suggest three to four different kinds of focal flowers, two to three different kinds of filler flowers, one or two line flowers and one or two varieties of greenery. Of course, single variety arrangements are also beautiful, and at the end of the day, it is really all about what you love!
Not all flowers preserve equally, and knowing which blooms preserve best can help you make informed decisions about what to include in your bouquet. While you should always choose flowers that have personal meaning or match your wedding aesthetic, certain varieties are particularly well-suited for preservation.
Each preservationist has different “rules” about flowers they do and do not press. At Peachy Petals, we will press almost every element of your bouquet, and only occasionally a few elements will be too thick to fit inside your frame. Be sure to check with your preservationist if you have any unique or unusual elements you want preserved (proteas, stems, succulents, etc).
Flowers that give us trouble: Calla lily, lisianthus, mums, lily of the valley and tropical florals.
It is not to say these flowers cannot be pressed, they just tend to be difficult
and susceptible to browning and color change. But by choosing the right flowers and working closely with your florist, you can create a piece that looks just as stunning years after your wedding.
ADD-ONS AND GIFTS
Flower preservation doesn’t have to stop with your bouquet. Many couples preserve additional flowers for sentimental gifts or keepsakes. At Peachy Petals, we offer a range of add-on options to make the most of your flowers. Item like resin ring dishes, ornaments or small pressed flower frames make thoughtful gifts for bridesmaids, parents or in-laws.
When you choose to preserve your wedding flowers, you’re creating a timeless keepsake that holds deep emotional significance. It’s a way to hold onto the beauty of your wedding day and reflect on the love and joy you experienced each time you see your preserved arrangement. At Peachy Petals, we take pride in helping couples preserve those memories with artistry and care. When planning your wedding, consider exploring flower preservation options early — it’s a decision you’ll cherish for a lifetime. ■

CAKES BY ANNA | TAY TESVICH PHOTO
Cake Have your
Let’s talk about the sweetest part of your wedding day (literally) — the cake! Whether you dream of towering tiers wrapped in fondant or a cutting cake adorned with a cheeky phrase, your wedding cake is a feast for both the eyes and taste buds. But with so many flavors, designs and bakers to choose from, the process can feel anything but a piece of cake. Don’t worry — we’re here to slice through the confusion and make this as smooth as buttercream. Let’s dig in!
GETTING STARTED
As you dive into the world of frosting and flavors, you’ll need to pin down a few essential details. These basics will help guide your cake journey:
1. Venue Vibes
Your venue sets the tone for your wedding, and your cake design can complement it beautifully. So before meeting with a cake artist, it’s a good idea to have your venue nailed down. A rustic barn wedding might inspire a
naked cake adorned with fresh fruit, while a modern museum venue could call for sleek, geometric designs. Share your venue’s style with your cake designer — they’ll use it to craft a dessert that feels right at home.
2. Number of Guests
Don’t sweat just yet — you don’t need an exact headcount right away! However, having a rough estimate will help your designer determine the size of your cake. A little extra is always better than running out!
3. Flavor Ideas
Choosing flavors can be one of the tastiest steps. Classic options like vanilla and chocolate are crowdpleasers, but don’t be afraid to consider branching out with unique combinations like lemon raspberry, matcha or toasted butter pecan. Can’t settle on one? Alternate tiers to reflect each of your favorites and give guests a variety to enjoy.
GET INSPIRED
When it comes to cake design, come to the kitchen with inspiration. Photos, fabric swatches or even pages from a magazine (wink, wink) can help convey your vision. Whether you’re drawn to towering elegance, bold architectural structures, or minimalist-chic cakes, clear ideas will help your designer bring your dream to life.
Think of your cake as edible art. Its design should reflect your wedding’s personality and fit your overall aesthetic. From vibrant ombré to delicate piped details, the options are as endless as your imagination.
SETTING A BUDGET
Budgeting for your wedding cake follows the same principles as working with any other vendor — it’s about balancing your vision with what’s realistic for your budget. As a rule of thumb, wedding cakes can range from $3 to $18+ per serving, depending on size, design complexity, flavor choices and your baker’s level of expertise. Be upfront about your budget so your designer can create something within your price range. If certain designs or techniques push you over
budget, don’t hesitate to ask for alternative techniques or products that capture the same essence.
FINDING YOUR DREAM CAKE MAKER
Once you’ve outlined the basics, it’s time to find your cake artist. Start by looking at portfolios, reading reviews and asking for recommendations from friends or your planner. When you’ve narrowed down some top contenders that match your desired style (and budget!), schedule tastings to get a feel for their style and, of course, their flavors. This step is as much about flavors as it is about building trust with your baker.
Finally, always confirm that your baker is licensed and insured. For liability reasons, your venue might insist on a licensed cake maker. You certainly don’t want an unlicensed vendor being turned away from the venue on the day of your wedding. And take your cake with them!
THE SWEETEST PART: TASTING
Now that you’ve chosen your dream cake artist and admired their portfolio, it’s time to ensure their cakes taste as amazing as they look — welcome to the tastiest part of wedding planning!
Most bakers offer a selection of flavors and fillings to showcase their expertise and range. If your ideal flavor isn’t on the tasting menu, don’t hesitate to ask if it can be prepared in advance. Don’t be afraid to get adventurous; after all, tastings are an opportunity to explore creative combinations and discover new favorites. While sampling, ask questions about flavor pairings,
serving sizes and any customizations you’re considering. Your baker is there to guide you and help refine your vision.
Finally, remember there may be a small tasting fee, but that amount often will be credited toward your order if you book with that baker.
SPECIAL DELIVERY
Leave the transportation of your cake to the professionals. Cakes are delicate, and the last thing you want is a mishap on your big day. Coordinate delivery and setup details with your designer, including arrival times and storage options at your venue to keep the cake fresh and photo-ready.
SWEET SUCCESS
From the first tasting to the final forkful at your reception, your wedding cake can and should be as memorable as the day itself. With a little planning and a talented cake designer, you’ll have a cake that’s as delicious as it is dazzling. Here’s to sweet success! ■

Is a First Look Right for You?
LOVE, ANTICIPATION AND BEAUTIFUL MEMORIES — WEDDING FIRST LOOKS HAVE CAPTURED THE HEARTS OF COUPLES AROUND THE WORLD.
Due to their historical and cultural significance, weddings themselves are time-honored traditions. Throughout history, weddings have been celebrated as a ceremonial union between two individuals, often accompanied by rituals, customs and traditions that have been passed down through generations. One of these enduring formalities is for the couple not to see one another before the ceremony. In fact, it used to be unheard of — and even bad luck — for couples to see each other before their wedding ceremony.
There is a romanticism inherent in this suspense. But within the last 20 years, this beloved custom has been upstaged by a modern addition to the wedding ritual arsenal: the first look. Once considered a wedding taboo, the first look allows couples to share an intimate moment together before saying “I do,” as well as an opportunity for some sweet photos before the rush of the day. With a perfect blend of efficiency and romance, you might consider skipping old-school conventions to embrace this new tradition.
EMOTIONALLY SOUND
Seeing your fiancé(e) for the very first time on your wedding day will no doubt stir up some powerful emotions. While some couples cherish the idea of that sentimental first glance happening at the end of the aisle,
others are more comfortable with a private moment before the ceremony.
Having a private first look with just you, your future spouse and your photographer allows you to express your genuine emotions without the pressure or stage fright that may come from being in front of all your loved ones. It’s an intimate setting where you can shed tears, laugh and truly be yourselves. A skilled photographer will capture these magical and tender moments authentically, creating lasting memories for you to revisit.
A MOMENT FOR YOU
After the ceremony, the whirlwind of the reception festivities will sweep you away (in the best way possible!). In the midst of all the celebrating, you might not be able to find a moment to candidly speak with your new spouse until much later. That’s where the first look comes in — it provides a precious opportunity to truly connect with your beloved before getting caught up in the revelries.
The pre-ceremony first look is a moment where couples can break away from prying eyes and be vulnerable with each other. So often weddings can feel like performances. However, during the first look, you can set aside the performance and simply be yourselves. It’s a chance to be real, raw and deeply connected with each other. It’s also a
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Grapefruit Photo
time to regroup and reaffirm your love before the ceremony. During this time, some couples choose to read letters to each other, exchange special gifts, pray together or simply just express their excitement and expectations for the day ahead.
CAPTURE YOUR GOOD SIDE
A first look offers the opportunity to capture the reactions of both you and your partner, which can be more challenging when you’re separated by an aisle during the ceremony. Furthermore, a first look allows photographers to take advantage of ideal lighting and picturesque backdrops that the wedding venue may offer. While nighttime portraits are romantic in their own right, natural morning light is oh-so-dreamy.
TIMING
The ultimate time-efficiency, a first look allows you to complete most of your posed photos and couple portraits before the ceremony. Couples who wait until after the ceremony often find themselves missing out on parts of their cocktail hour as they’re busy taking all the must-have photos. By opting for a first look, you free up time to ensure that you capture all the pictures you want, leaving you more relaxed and fully able to enjoy the reception.
It’s no wonder why first looks have become increasingly popular — considering the benefits they offer from both a logistical and romantic standpoint. Logistically, this practice allows for a smoother wedding timeline, ensuring there is ample time to capture beautiful photos without feeling rushed. However, the romantic aspects of a first look are equally compelling. The intimate nature of this moment can help settle nerves and create the right emotional headspace for the rest of the day.
Whether you prefer the thrill of waiting until the ceremony to see your betrothed or you opt for the efficient first look, there’s no wrong decision. With a skilled photographer, you can rest assured that you’ll have wonderful photos capturing the essence of your special day. ■
A Beautiful Start INCLUDING A BOUDOIR SESSION ON
WORDS AND PHOTOGRAPHY
BY Izzy Hudgins, Izzy + Co.
Photography
YYOUR WEDDING MORNING
our wedding day will be filled with emotions, moments and memories that you’ll cherish for a lifetime. But before you walk down the aisle, there’s a unique opportunity to capture a side of yourself that can often be overlooked amidst the hustle: your sensual, confident self. Imagine starting your wedding day with a mini boudoir session — a set of intimate bridal portraits taken while you’re getting ready.
This session isn’t just about beautiful photos; it’s an experience designed to make you feel empowered, radiant and truly connected with yourself before you say, “I do.” Here’s why you should consider adding it to your wedding morning itinerary:
CELEBRATE YOURSELF ON THE MOST SPECIAL DAY
Your wedding is a day to celebrate love — and that includes a little self-love! A boudoir session gives you a chance to take a breath, embrace your beauty and feel sexy and powerful in a way that’s entirely your own. Walking into your wedding day with this energy can be a game-changer, giving you an extra boost of confidence and reminding you of the beauty that already exists within you.
A MEMORABLE GIFT FOR YOUR PARTNER
If you’re already planning to surprise your partner with a set of sexy lingerie for your wedding night, why not make it extra special by incorporating it into a mini photo session? A few stunning, intimate portraits — perhaps with your bridal robe or veil draped delicately or your bouquet in hand — will make an unforgettable wedding gift. Your partner
will be blown away, and you’ll have a private keepsake to cherish forever.
A RELAXED MOMENT BEFORE THE BIG EVENT
Your wedding morning can be a whirlwind of activity. Adding 30-60 minutes for a boudoir session allows you to slow down, be present, and indulge in some self-care. With a skilled photographer guiding you, the experience will feel natural and fun — giving you space to breathe, reflect, and focus on yourself before the day unfolds.
THE PERFECT CONFIDENCE BOOST
A mini boudoir session isn’t just about the photos — it’s about how you’ll feel. Empowered. Gorgeous. Ready to walk down the aisle glowing with confidence. As the anticipation builds, taking a moment for yourself can set the perfect tone for the rest of the day. Maximize your investment with your photographer by adding a mini boudoir session to your getting ready coverage the morning of your wedding. This worthwhile addition will leave you feeling more beautiful and empowered than ever — and you’ll have a secret surprise tucked away for your partner to enjoy later, because every bride deserves to feel extraordinary, inside and out, from the first moment of her wedding day. ■

YOUR WEDDING PHOTO GUIDE
Your wedding day is a whirlwind of champagne toasts, teary smiles and wild dance moves you may never believe you pulled off. Spoiler alert: the day itself might fly by, but the memories? Those are forever. So, how do you make sure every magical moment gets captured and preserved? Enter your trusty photographer, their shot list and a carefully crafted photography timeline. Your wedding photos will live on
your Instagram feed, hold a permanent spot on Grandma’s mantel and, someday, 30 years down the road, make your future kids marvel at your gorgeous love story. Here’s how to help your photographer capture every swoon-worthy second.
CALL OUT THE DETAILS
Do you have heirlooms tied into your bouquet or a signature scent created just for your wedding day? Make sure
your photographer knows about those meaningful touches. The little things that make your wedding uniquely YOU deserve a starring role in your photo gallery.
CURATE YOUR “MUST-HAVES”
If there are specific shots you’ve been dreaming of (think: dramatic sunset kisses or individual photos with each of your siblings), don’t keep them to yourself! Share a shortlist of “musthave” shots with your photographer. They’ll prioritize capturing these moments while still working their creative magic on everything else.
ENLIST HELP
Family group photos can be like herding cats. Assign a reliable friend or relative to help gather the right people for each shot. This person can wrangle everyone, keeping things moving smoothly and ensuring sure no one sneaks off to the bar during this designated photo time.
TRUST YOUR PHOTOGRAPHER
Your photographer has been around the wedding block. They know how to find the perfect light, pose you like a supermodel and capture the just right mix of posed and candid moments. If they suggest something that feels a little silly or unnatural, try your best to go with it. Those silly instructions often result in the most cherished, authentic-looking photos. After all, your photographer wants you to look good — it’s their job!
EXPECT THE UNEXPECTED
Life happens, even on your wedding day. Weddings rarely stick to a minuteby-minute plan and timelines may shift (think: your baby cousin crying during scheduled family portraits). But don’t sweat it — your photographer knows how to think fast and capture the magic anyway. Trust the pros to roll with it and keep snapping!
With these tips in your pocket, you’re all set for a wedding album full of love, laughter and those can’t-miss moments. Now, go ahead and let loose — and don’t forget to smile! ■

The Must-Have Shot List
Think of this as your wedding day MVPs (Most Valuable Photos). A good photographer knows their stuff, but sharing your priorities helps them focus on what matters most to you. Here’s a starter list to get the ball rolling:
• Getting Ready: Robes, bubbly, laughter and that perfect lipstick application shot.
• Details, Details, Details: Rings, invitation flat-lays, shoes, perfume — basically any personalized detail that makes your day YOURS.
• The First Look: Whether it’s with your spouse or Dad, this teary, grinning moment is gold.
• Ceremony Must-Haves: The walk down the aisle, your guests’ happy faces, the kiss and signing of the marriage certificate.
• Candid Magic: Guests laughing, kids dancing, Grandma tearing up — pure treasures.
• Beautiful P ortraits: You two glowing in the moment, looking like a magazine cover. Enough said.
• Reception Fun: Venue details, first dances, cake cutting and all the wild moves after the DJ cranks it up.
Pro tip: Keep your shot list short and sweet. You don’t want your photographer buried in a checklist instead of focusing on the magic unfolding. ■

However, keep in mind that consistency is key. Keep your design elements flowing from piece to piece for a cohesive suite that’ll have your guests talking long after the last dance.
From the first “Save the Date” to the final thank-you note, here’s your starting guide to stationery essentials that’ll keep your guests in the loop (and totally wowed).
1 Save the Dates
The teaser trailer for your wedding! These little cards announce your date and help guests block their calendars.
What to Include:
9 Your names
9 The wedding date
9 Location (city/state)
9 Website link (if available)
Since this is a request to “clear your
calendar,” you don’t need to give into all the details just yet. For now, you can leave off information about RSVPs, registry, schedule of events and other overly specific details.
2 Formal Invitations
The main event of your stationery suite! This star-of-the-show is often broken down into the following supporting pieces:
Main Invitation Card
All your essential details – showcased in style.
What to Include:
9 Hosts’ names
9 The couple’s names
9 Date and time of the ceremony
9 Ceremony and reception location(s)
9 Attire details
In addition to essential information, consider aesthetic elements to carry throughout your stationery show, such as letterpress, foil stamping, monograms or crests.
Response Card
Whether it’s a mail-back card or a digital RSVP, this is where guests confirm their attendance.
What to Include:
9 Reply by date / RSVP deadline
9 Website address or QR code (consider a custom URL for a special touch!)
9 Space for guest names (for mailback cards)
Details Card
Time for the nitty-gritty! Your details card showcases everything else your guests need to know.
What to Include:
9 Accommodations
9 Website address
9 Travel info
9 Children policy
9 Any other necessary details for guests to attend or enjoy your big day
Consider: If your website covers it all, think about combining the details and RSVP card info onto one piece of stationery.
Envelopes
Stand out in the mail and keep everything together with the envelope — think of these as the gift wrap for your stationery.
What to Include:
9 The name of each invited guest, including any plus ones
9 Return address
9 Stamps on RSVP envelopes (if using mail-back responses)
Be sure to consider envelope liners, outer/inner envelopes, calligraphy or vintage/custom stamps for extra flair.
When it comes to your formal invitations, the customization options are endless. Don’t forget to consider the following special touches:
• Wax seals — medieval romance, anyone?
• Ribbons — because who doesn’t love to unwrap a present?
• Pocket folders — to keep it all together
• Belly bands — like a hug for your invites
• Vellum wraps — for that extra “wow” factor
3 Ceremony Program
The ceremony program is the playbill for your ceremony — or your “what’s happening when” guide to keep guests on track with the schedule of events.
What to Include:
9 Couple’s names
9 Wedding date
9 Ceremony schedule
9 Wedding party
9 Special roles or dedications
9 Additional events for the evening
Consider a heartfelt thank-you message or memorial tributes for a personal touch. Also think about whether you want one program per person or one per couple.
4 Day-Of Stationery
Introducing your supporting cast! Your day-of stationery includes any printed items you and your guests need to ensure a wonderful experience on your big day. Some items might include:
9 Place cards or escort cards
9 Menu Cards
9 Table numbers or names
9 Cocktail napkins
9 Vow books
9 Aisle signage
9 Special recognition signage
5 Thank You Cards
The grand finale of gratitude! Personalized notes are a beautiful way to thank guests for celebrating with you. And don’t procrastinate on writing your thank-you notes! Aim to send them within three months of the big day.

a date is a recipe for RSVPs gone wild. Be clear about who’s invited – by name — on both the envelope and invitation.
Registry: Your wedding isn’t a gift grab! Keep registry info off your main invite and save it for your wedding website or details card.
Time Crunch Catastrophe: Sending invites too late is like expecting Cinderella to make it to the ball without her fairy godmother. Aim for 14-16 weeks before the big day, or your guests might be left scrambling.
The Information Overload: Your invitation isn’t a novel. Keep it sweet and simple. Save the nitty-gritty details for your wedding website or details card.
Sloppy Spelling Syndrome: Nothing says “oops” like misspelling your future in-laws’ names. Triple-check the spelling of everything before going to print!
RSVP Riddle: Make it crystal clear how and when guests should RSVP. And be sure to include a self-addressed, stamped envelope when requesting a mail-back response.
The “Adults Only” Awkward Moment: If kids aren’t invited, address invitations to adults only. A discreet “adult reception” note on the details card can also do the trick.
Dress Code Dilemma: If you leave your guests guessing about attire, you might end up with flip-flops at a black-tie affair. A simple line about attire can save everyone from a fashion emergency.
The Postage Predicament: Nothing kills the vibe like a “postage due” stamp or getting a returned invite. Weigh a complete invitation suite at the post office to avoid this party foul.
Remember, etiquette isn’t about being stuffy — it’s about making your guests feel valued and informed. Nail these details, and you’ll be setting the stage for the celebration of the century! ■

The Ultimate Wedding Soundtrack
PHOTOGRAPHY BY Tags Photography
What is the soundtrack to your love story? Choosing songs for your wedding can either be super exciting or completely overwhelming. It is, however, an important step in establishing the vibe and sound that will make your wedding unique.
THE RULES
When planning the music for your wedding, it’s important to remember that there are no hard and fast rules. But, if you’re looking for some helpful guidance, here are a few things to consider:
• Create a Spotify or Apple Music playlist so that whenever you hear a song you both like, you can quickly add it to the playlist to remember for later.
• Make a list of “must-play” songs to ensure that your favorite tunes are included on your special day.
• Create your list of “do-not-play” songs, which might include tracks that hold bad memories or that you simply don’t like.
• Tailor your choices to your own favorite genres and use music as a storytelling device. Personalize your wedding soundtrack by including artists you’ve seen in concert together, “your song” and even covers of classics done by contemporary artists.
• Consider the special moments of the day — such as entrances, cake cutting, first dances and the bouquet toss — and select songs that fit the occasion in terms of tempo and theme.
• Think ahead and communicate any specific requests to your sound operator. Things can happen quicker than you anticipate, so if there’s a particular part of a song you want played during a specific moment, be sure to let them know so they can edit or cue up the song accordingly.
Finally, don’t be afraid to include your favorite songs, even if they don’t fit into the dancing portion of the evening. These songs can be played during dinner or cocktail hour to ensure that they don’t go unheard.

STACY & MARCUS
In hues of sienna orange, toffee brown and emerald green, Stacy and Marcus’s wedding at The Westside Warehouse was a vibrant blend of Igbo and American traditions.
The couple set the tone for their luxurious celebration long before the wedding day, with a custom stationery suite by Paper&More Creations. Guests received acrylic invitations nestled in double velvet pockets and enclosed in copper-lined envelopes featuring Stacy and Marcus’s custom logo — a beautiful preview of the elegance to come.
Fashion was a defining feature of the day. Stacy walked down the aisle in a customized gown from Kleinfeld Bridal, paired with Jimmy Choo heels and Maria Elena accessories. For the reception, she changed into two additional custom dresses and donned traditional Nigerian coral beads. Marcus and the wedding party also embraced Igbo culture by changing into Nigerian attire for the reception. To ensure guests could share in these Nigerian accents, Stacy and Marcus gifted everyone traditional fans — a thoughtful token ensuring everyone could take a piece of Nigeria home.
As the guests settled in for dinner, they were treated to a feast of Nigerian delicacies, including jollof rice, plantains and meat pies — a delicious way to incorporate the couple’s heritage into the day. A live band welcomed guests to the reception, and the newlyweds wowed everyone with a first dance choreographed by Fabian and Jackie Sanchez of “Dancing with the Stars” fame.
After a night of dancing, laughter and heartfelt memories, Stacy and Marcus bid farewell in a Rolls-Royce Ghost — perfectly capping off a luxurious day filled with culture and celebration.

Nestled in the scenic beauty of North Georgia, Swan Lake Overlook provided the perfect setting for a wedding that balanced natural surroundings with sophisticated touches. Far from the bustle of Atlanta, Courtney and Terence’s wedding transcended traditional aesthetics, transporting their guests to a world that felt intimate yet grand.

JOEY & RYAN
When Joey and Ryan set out to plan their wedding, they envisioned a blend of “otherworldly minimalism,” artful design and just a touch of the cosmos. Hosted at Guardian Works, an industrial-chic former perfume factory, their celebration balanced modernity with playful creativity, making for an unforgettable experience.
Their celebration was a feast for the senses, starting with a ceremony space full of showstopping decor: a hanging dragon’s tail of floral greenery, floating Kokedama moss balls and an aisle aglow with candlelight. When the ceremony began, The Mad Violinist played romantic violin renditions; Joey entered to Justin Bieber’s “Peaches,” while Ryan followed to Kanye West’s “Flashing Lights.”
After exchanging vows, custom Tip Top Cocktails cans (designed by Paper Phoenix) served as seating cards and keepsakes. Dinner, crafted by Bold Catering, featured a standout threecourse menu culminating in a reimagined cheese plate dessert. Syndesi Desserts elevated the experience further with a multi-flavor wedding cake: one part ube cake with cookies and cream and salted caramel filling, and the other Earl Grey cake with passion fruit filling.
The reception carried the couple’s imaginative vision into the night. Beneath metallic, disco ball-esque inflatables and on a sleek black dance floor, drag artist Aspen York electrified the crowd with a performance, kicking off a high-energy evening of dancing and celebration.
Joey and Ryan’s story — from meeting on a dating app to an engagement road trip documented across eight states — was appropriately celebrated in style. Intimate yet full of life, the couple’s wedding was a day where their passions and personalities truly shone.

With horses, hiking and heritage, Kayla and Brett’s wedding at The Inn at Serenbe blended modern simplicity with vintage nostalgia. Their vision was clean, romantic and far from the rustic aesthetic often tied to farm weddings. Instead, they created a dreamy atmosphere, with every detail balancing the old and new.
The couple, who met through mutual friends, bonded instantly over their shared love of travel and adventure. In April 2023, Brett proposed at Painter’s Point in Big Sur, a remote location where the mountains meet the ocean, setting the tone for their nature-inspired wedding.
The Inn at Serenbe was the obvious venue for their celebration. Located on Atlanta’s edge, Serenbe is known for its sustainability practices, working organic farm and stunning surroundings. The couple’s commitment to the environment was reflected in their wedding, from the eco-friendly venue to the organic, locally sourced menu. Their 92 guests enjoyed a weekend of serenity, indulging in activities like horseback riding, hiking and exploring the charming community.
Family heritage was woven throughout the day, with details like vintage wedding photos of grandparents, Kayla’s magnolia earrings honoring her step-grandmother and Queen Anne’s Lace in memory of the bride’s grandmother, Gene Anne. As a third-generation horsewoman, Kayla incorporated horses into the celebration, starting the day with a ride alongside her soon-to-be husband.
In every way, Kayla and Brett’s wedding reflected their shared values, connection to nature and appreciation for family. The result was a timeless and sustainable affair, leaving everyone eager to return to the idyllic setting.

SHELBY & JOSH
Perched high above Buckhead with the glittering Atlanta skyline as their backdrop, Shelby and Josh exchanged vows in a celebration both vibrant and intimate.
For their wedding, the couple envisioned a non-traditional celebration exuding romance and glamor. Shelby and Josh found their perfect venue in Tesserae, the upscale restaurant and lounge located atop the Thompson Atlanta-Buckhead. Its moody, retroglam aesthetic and breathtaking views set the tone for an unforgettable day.
The terrace ceremony featured the city skyline as a striking backdrop. Shelby and Josh’s rich color palette — deep plum, blush, burgundy, white and green — added warmth and sophistication, complemented by glowing Viva Sand Candles and timeless black-and-white accents. Afterward, guests enjoyed custom cocktails, cascading estate tables and music in Tesserae’s sultry interior. The night ended with a dance floor under the stars, where Tesserae’s floor-to-ceiling glass doors connected the venue’s indoor luxury with outdoor charm.
Every detail was carefully curated to evoke old Hollywood elegance with a modern twist. From the ambiance to the decor, Shelby and Josh’s wedding reflected not only their impeccable style but also their meant-to-be connection. Crediting their talented vendor team and the stunning venue for bringing their vision to life, the bride shared, “It was everything we hoped for — intimate, glamorous and romantic.”
As the city lights sparkled around them, Shelby and Josh celebrated their new chapter — surrounded by love, laughter and the unforgettable magic of Atlanta.

JESS & DEVIN
Despite crossing paths countless times as tweens, it wasn’t until two years after college that Jess and Devin truly connected — in, of all places, the checkout line at Kroger. That serendipitous run-in thus sparked a romance seemingly written by fate.
When planning their wedding, Jess and Devin knew that a traditional ballroom simply wouldn’t match their vision. They craved a space that captured their creative spirits while also being easy to navigate for their guests and vendors. Summerour Studio, with its natural light, expansive open floor plan and transportive ambiance, indeed was the perfect canvas for their celebration.
Jess, a lover of modern art and forward-thinking design, curated a wedding aesthetic that was as unique as it was chic. Inspired by abstract art, dyed tapestries and unconventional florals, the couple chose chartreuse as the focal point for their moody, artistic theme. With this vision, Summerour Studio became an immersive, restaurant-like environment, featuring a lush, verdant space with dripping moss and layers of greenery elegantly draping from the walls.
Honoring their grandparents’ favorite drink, Jess and Devin incorporated martini motifs throughout the day. From a custom martini bar to a clever escort display featuring the cocktail’s iconic silhouette, martinis were a fun and nostalgic nod that added touch of personal flair.
The day ended with a fragrant sendoff as guests showered the newlyweds with lavender flowers. With modern artistic flair and deeply personal touches, Jess and Devin’s wedding at Summerour Studio was nothing short of a midsummer night’s dream.

TAYLOR & XAVIER
Taylor and Xavier’s story began in the kitchen of the restaurant where they worked, their friendship blossoming over shared jokes and a playful challenge. One day, Xavier teased Taylor by offering her a fry held between his lips, and without hesitation, she accepted. From that lighthearted moment on, a connection sparked — evolving into a romantic relationship filled with laughter, mutual understanding and an undeniable bond. Fittingly, their wedding mirrored the intimacy and charm of their partnership. Taylor and Xavier chose Montaluce Winery & Restaurant, a picturesque venue in the North Georgia mountains, as the backdrop for their celebration. Though they live in Florida, the Tuscaninspired atmosphere of the vineyard made for the perfect destination wedding, offering an idyllic escape just far enough from home. Their planner, Logan Paradiso Events, drew inspiration from the natural beauty of the vineyard and its old-world ambiance. Incorporating elements like fresh pears and grapes into the floral arrangements, the vendor team perfectly enhanced the lush harmony of the day.
With just 20 guests, Taylor and Xavier’s wedding was intimate, allowing for every detail to be thoughtfully curated. Surrounded by the winery’s serene vineyard and rustic architecture, the venue set the tone for a celebration blending modern sophistication with the warmth of a friendly dinner party.
As day turned to night, Taylor (who changed into a chic Sarah Alouache mini dress) and Xavier got the party started with a champagne tower and dancing beneath glowing string lights. The event, filled with a perfect balance of editorial elegance and heartfelt intimacy, was nothing short of magical.

DANA & FRANK
On a summer day at the Four Seasons Atlanta, Dana and Frank wedded in an atmosphere absolutely radiating with polished sophistication. Amidst mirrored metallics, satin ribbons and hues of blush and buttercream, their soirée was a vision of Southern elegance.
Dana and Frank met by chance in 2017, bonding over niche commonalities and an immediate connection. Despite living 600 miles apart — Dana in Atlanta and Frank in Washington, D.C. — they maintained a long-distance relationship for nearly three years. In March 2020, their routine was unexpectedly disrupted; what was supposed to be a weekend visit turned into six months of Frank living out of a backpack at Dana’s condo due to COVID lockdowns. However, this uncertain time brought them even closer, solidifying that they were truly meant to be.
Understanding the importance of personal touches, Dana and Frank infused their wedding with thoughtful details. As guests entered the romantically decorated reception venue, they were welcomed by a seating chart crafted from individual Ladurée macaron boxes. Nearby, a caviar and champagne cart set a refined tone for the evening, while lighthearted elements, like custom linen napkins featuring an illustration of their Maltese and a monogrammed espresso martini ice luge, added a playful flairs.
On their wedding day, the hospitable spirit that brought Dana and Frank together shone brightly, perfectly reflecting the essence of their relationship. From the presence of their dog, Coconut, to the handcrafted welcome boxes full of local goodies, the couple created a weekend experience that made every guest feel included and cherished.

Set against the stunning landscape of Hills & Dales Estate, Bailey and Matt’s wedding celebrated Italian culture, blending rustic elegance with timeless Tuscan charm. Inspired by Matt’s heritage, the couple incorporated Mediterranean touches, from olive branches and lemons entwined in the decor to tomato-red accents in the florals. The Georgian estate became a scene straight out of the Italian countryside, a place where Bailey and Matt could share their story in a deeply personal language.
As high school sweethearts, Bailey and Matt experienced many of life’s milestones together, all while learning about love in the sweetest way. Through years of support and shared memories, they built a strong foundation that made their wedding day a beautiful continuation of their journey. Gratitude filled the air as they celebrated with the friends and family who had cheered them on from the start.
To mark such a special occasion, the couple needed the perfect venue. From their first visit to Hills & Dales Estate, Bailey and Matt knew they had found the perfect place. The estate’s mix of elegant interiors and breathtaking outdoor vistas set the stage for the heartfelt atmosphere they envisioned.
To honor their roots and celebrate family values, Bailey and Matt chose a traditional Italian menu. Guests dined on hearty pasta courses, classic antipasti and handpicked Italian wines, which inspired toasts around each table.
As night fell and the estate glowed warmly, Bailey and Matt were enveloped by love and support. It was the beginning of a new chapter, celebrated in a setting that’ll forever hold a special piece of their story.

KATE & LJ
Anyone who’s met Kate and LJ knows they embody love, intentionality and warmth. It only made sense that their wedding beautifully reflected those qualities. From the meaningful touches to the relaxed ambiance of SCAD - Ivy Hall, every detail created an atmosphere that was intimate, heartfelt and joyful.
This sense of connection was woven into every moment, beginning with Kate’s wedding dress — a tribute to her family’s legacy. Rather than choosing a new gown, Kate transformed her mother’s wedding dress, blending tradition with her own modern style. The dress, carefully reimagined with lace and materials from her mother’s original gown, sweetly symbolized the bond between past and present.
Set in the lush gardens of SCAD - Ivy Hall, the ceremony began against the melodic sounds of live violin and guitar. LJ’s reaction when he saw Kate walking down the aisle was unforgettable, and their close friend Ben, who officiated, crafted a ceremony that truly reflected the couple’s journey together.
The reception, designed with warmth and comfort in mind, featured a family-style dinner where guests gathered at round tables, sharing a delicious meal and lively conversation. Adding a personal touch, Kate and LJ shared their first dance to an acoustic rendition of Bernhoft’s “Stay with Me,” performed by friend of the groom, Andrew DeMuro. As the evening wound down, guests sent the couple off with a glowing exit lit by phone flashlights, a modern twist on the classic sparkler send-off.
In every way, their wedding day was intimate and warm, an experience that mirrored Kate and LJ’s love for each other and the people closest to them.

KALLI & ERIK
Kalli and Erik’s wedding at Perry Lane Hotel in Savannah exuded elegance, warmth and lighthearted charm. The couple’s personalities shone throughout the celebration, creating an inviting atmosphere filled with laughter.
Kalli and Erik worked at the same hospital, but it took a dating app to bring them together. Kalli, a rural Georgia native working in medical sales, and Erik, a Boston-raised doctor, didn’t expect much from their first date. Yet what began as a casual drink turned into an eight-hour adventure exploring downtown Savannah. Their connection deepened over a shared love of travel, board games and true crime documentaries, with Erik’s proposal in Hawaii marking their next big chapter.
The Perry Lane Hotel was a natural choice for their wedding. Sentimental value, as their first date was at its rooftop bar, Peregrin, paired with the hotel’s helpful staff and gorgeous setting, made it the perfect venue. Surrounded by loved ones, the couple exchanged vows filled with humor and heart, drawing laughter and tears from their guests.
Personal touches defined the reception, from playful drawings of their dogs, Blaise and Collins, to a voicemail guestbook encouraging guests to leave quirky messages for the newlyweds. Heartwarming toasts and an energetic dance floor rounded out the evening, celebrating Kalli and Erik’s love story in a way that felt authentic to who they are as a couple.
With soft lighting, vibrant floral arrangements and personal touches, the day felt as intimate as it was stunning. Kalli and Erik’s wedding was a reminder to everyone present of the beauty of love, connection and a little bit of fun along the way.

STEPHANIE & MICHAEL
With a wedding beautifully blending their Chinese, Vietnamese and American backgrounds, Stephanie and Michael’s celebration at Callanwolde Fine Arts Center was simply spellbinding.
Stephanie and Michael’s relationship exemplifies harmony through balance. Stephanie’s expressive personality shines alongside Michael’s thoughtful nature and sense of humor, often displayed through his endless repertoire of dad jokes — a source of laughter and occasional eye rolls from Stephanie. For over seven years, they’ve built a partnership rooted in embracing their differences and complementing each other.
Following a traditional Catholic ceremony at the Cathedral of Christ the King, guests gathered in Callanwolde’s lush gardens for an intimate Chinese/ Vietnamese tea ceremony. This cherished tradition honored their families and allowed the couple to express gratitude to their elders. Hosting the tea ceremony during cocktail hour allowed everyone to experience this tradition that reflected the values shaping Stephanie and Michael’s union.
As the evening moved indoors, a 10-course Chinese banquet awaited. Each dish, cooked on-site and served family-style, created an atmosphere reminiscent of a traditional Chinese wedding feast. The communal dining experience fostered connection, as laughter and conversation mingled with the aromas of each dish.
From outfit changes to the live music-fueled dancing, the couple’s day was steeped in tradition and the promise of a bright future together. Traditional yet contemporary, Stephanie and Michael’s wedding was a day where their love and heritage truly shone.
