Questionnaire Analysis:

From the questionnaire I can see that 61.5% of the people we asked, said that they watch films often, 15.4% of people watched films frequently and only 23.1% of people didn’t watch film often. This tells us that people do watch films on a regular basis more than don’t.

The two most popular sub-genre is both psychological and slasher horrors, who four out of the 12 people said. Our trailer is a slasher horror, so from the results we can infer that it would be popular with audiences.

From this question I can tell that the trailer is important to the audience when deciding to watch a film, because nearly half of the people we asked said that it was persuasive to a large extent, and 7.7% said it was essential.

Predominately, the people we asked said that they watches horror films at home, however they said that they watch films with their friends and family, which could be at home or could be at the cinema.

69% percent of the 13 people we asked said that actors only influence whether they watch a film to a small amount, and 15% said it didn’t influence them at all. From this I can see that in our film the actors in our film won’t influence whether the audience watches it or not.

The majority of the people we asked said that they would watch the film, only 2 out the 13 responses said they wouldn’t. From this I can indicate that we may need to make some changes to the story line of our trailer in order increase the amount of people who want to see the film.

The questionnaire we have conducted has been extremely useful research, as from the questions we asked, we can see that the majority of people watch films on a regular basis; showing that there would be a large target audience for our film. We’ve found that the most popular sub genres of horror amongst the audience was slasher and psychological, as our horror is already a slasher, it should interest the audience. When we asked the question of what is their favourite horror film, there was a mixed responses but a common film mentioned was Insidious. Along with this we asked what do you expect from a horror film and people responded with similar things such as being made to jump and feel suspense; which would be why they liked the film Insidious. From this we can infer in order to correspond with what the audience expects we should include aspects in our trailer that make the viewer feel scared and jump, in order to conform to the conventions of horror. In our trailer we didn’t plan to use any famous actors within the film, in our responses we found that most people said that actors didn’t influence whether they saw a film; so this is beneficial to our production. The people who responded to our questionnaire answered questions about what their favourite aspect of horror was, and in order to appeal to our audience then we need to include the things in our trailer that the audience like. These things include having blood and gore featured; they wanted to have a build-up of suspense. In our questionnaire we told the respondents our synopsis, and asked if they would see the film after reading it. Most of the people said yes or maybe, and a only two people said no. However we may need to change some of the story in order to make it appeal to as many people as possible. We have found that the audience said that the twist in the story line was a strength of the synopsis, as well as it being set at Christmas makes it stand out. However they said that the storyline may not be believable, so we could make some changes in our plot to make it more realistic.
