TERRAZZO FLOORING Inside-out running floor

The idea is to cover the whole floor with gradients of the same terrazzo. Only the “carpets” will be obviously different in colour, grain and size, and define specific domestic but shared areas (the livinf room, the dining place, the salon by-the-sea, the private terrasse). The rest will be realized out of the same type of grains, cemet and colouring; only the grinding od the grains will change. By changing the intensity of the grinding, the exact same type of grain, colour and cement will look different because of the dust colour, and the general size of the elements. We worked with local supplyers and tried to find a colour as close as possible as the earth-walls coulour.

INERTIA Conclusus - The title is a reference to Peter Zumthor’s “hortus conclusus”. The internalization of the exterior space offers a space of freedom but also of protection that we want to propose for the students. The project is based on the principle of the box within the box: inside the building there are several spaces for play, socialization and education. This dialectic evokes the spiritual dimension of each of these different physical environments.

Photo die A beste sind erfülle Wärm Brand

Block - The intention is to express inertia, through the use of concrete in its raw form. By analogy, the idea is to associate the notions of strength, stability and durability, with educational value.

INDUSTRIAL LANDSCAPE

Diploma project, EnsaParis-la-Villette Segrate, Milan -Juin 2016 Chloé Constantini, individual work Architecture, landscape, urbanism Professors: Didier Rebois, et Thibaud Barbier Highest distinction

urban weaves

Redevelopment of a derelict industrial site in the suburbs of Milan: between fragments and continuities The project envisions a resilient form of inhabited landscape. The challenge is to use the existing capacity of the site and the land to build the project. Thus, the project is based on the possibility to foresee adaptability, and calls for a new philosophy of urban sustainability. The approach is interdisciplinary (history, theory, architectural projection) and is rooted in landscape engineering (geography, sociology, environmental economics, urban planning) in order to respond more accurately to urban and geographic issues on a large scale. The territory is envisaged as a potential inhabited park, which is in continuity with the existing landscape of the Lambro river. The project has been developed in different phases; each step supposed to generate the next, and reactivate the enclosed site. Based on a rigorous study of the site and its components, the proposal proposes an intervention at several scales. The project proposes a new principle of urban development that puts the vegetal element at the beginning of the development process of the inhabited environment. To do this, the first phase of the project sets up a “resource territory” that will serve as a territorial base for the establishment of the project.

Site of intervention, Sundgau, North of Basel

Sundgau - Upper Rhine Plain A territory definined by natural limits

The site is located in the French part of the Rhine valley, at the crossroads of four distinct landscape typologies and geological conditions - the Rhine valley, the Hardt forest, the Jura mountains and the Black Forest to the east.

LANDSCAPE, «POLITIC»

Indeed, its natural qualities have allowed the installation and development of industrial and pharmaceutical infrastructures, and more generally, of high production activities (agriculture, wood production, airport).

We propose the concept of spreading the forest, to restructure this neglected territory. Already present in situ, we propose to develop research industries and biotechnology centers, which require a certain environment to exist, present here. This would be a new form of “forest”, not presenting itself as an “exterior” (which is what the word basically means), but rather as an urban typology, a binding element that would reconcile the opposing notions of urbanization and nature.

on the french part of the Rhine valley in-between 4 different types of landscapes This forest would beand developed the old structuring grid of itions -the Rhine river, the Forest of La Hardt, Jura montains thefromBlack Forest the Hardt forest, and would be integrated on a larger scale, since However, although the built-up urban expansion is more or less one of the qualities of the Upper Rhine region is the presence its natural features enable industrial and pharmaceurical infrastructures and more controlled, the same cannot be said for the unbuilt, residual terriof this forest. The figure of the waterfall as a visual obstruction is very effective in defining the limits of a space and giving it its own identity.

A second axis crosses the territory from the Sundgau to the Rhine. Then the spread of the forest is integrated within a grid parallel to the main boulevard, and divides the area into 3 gradients of vegetation intensity: production sites, public parks, and private gardens.
