Process Essay I enjoyed this project very much, it was my favorite. I love cooking and books so it was really fun. The first thing I did once we got our country was go to the library. I looked for Polish cookbooks and cookbooks that I thought had been designed well. Next I started looking up recipes; I looked for the most popular dishes and then decided to just go with desserts because I like baking the best. Once I got all my recipes I started baking them. This part was a huge pain in my ass. I had to make all 10 recipes in a week, this doesn’t sound hard but some things needed to rise for a few hours so I had to time everything right so I could make everything. Some Recipes were easy, others were very hard. I’m glad I made everything because I think it helped me learn more about cooking and if you’re designing a cookbook you should make all the food so you can get a feel for what its like cooking food for you country. I looked up Polish folk art for ideas with my cover and end pages. Everything had these awesome floral patterns with lots of colors. I really liked that because all of my food had very different tastes and were all for different holi-

days or was eaten at different times of day. When setting up the recipe pages I wanted to pull colors from the images of the food I made and then I just made them lighter or darker so it would be easier to read. At first I had the pages set up the same way; Picture on the left, text on the right. After looking at it I decided that it would look better if things switched every page. When placing the images, I originally wanted the image to take up the whole page. Then I tried playing around with different options and I really liked having them in circles that almost take up the whole page.
