Meet Meccano Mick

Brian Mellor brought along two air-cooled engines, here he is starting a Petter 'Universal' which is direct coupled to an Edwinson pump, an unusual manufacturer. The water for the display was provided by a Lister 'Domestic' pump driven by a 1948 B.S.A. E series air cooled engine.

Brian Eagles' 'Flowers In The Rain' water display was particularly innovative and intrigued the public. This interesting display of a Bamford hand pump, with water supplied by a Lister 'Domestic' pump powered by a Wolseley WD11 was owned by Tony Stubbs.

Planning to go to a rally this summer? Head over to the stalls to find these impressive Meccano models made by Mick Baker.
Mick makes agricultural items along with construction and fairground rides. These are electric (battery) or live steam powered, many of which run around a track . If showing the steam powered models, a calm day is required as any wind soon takes heat away from the small boiler. The rally theme for this year are the E27N and MM tractors, Mick having made his interpretation of these in Meccano. Mick made several different models during lockdown, two of which are what every farm should have; a little Grey Fergie and a bow axle Allis B with trailed combine.
