TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN
Dear Sir/Madam
STATEMENT OF EMPLOYMENT Matthew Chen GuanQi was employed as an Architectural Associate from 2nd May 2017 to 26th July 2017. The job carries the responsibilities of assisting with the design and drafting through conceptual, schematic, design development and tender documentation stages. During his tenure here, Matthew was involved in the concept and detail design of a corner terrace house and prepared all planning and technical submissions to all the government authorities. Matthew has an amazingly positive and honest attitude which will serve him very well in the years to come. He is deeply committed to learning the craft of architecture and shows utmost dedication and diligence in all his work. What he lacks in experience is more than made up by his enthusiasm and energy for architecture. We wish him all the best in his endeavours and have no hesitation in recommending him to any practice.
Yours faithfully

Adelaide, 11 January, 2017 To Whom it May Concern,
Guanqi Matthew Chen has been my student in 3rd year and the final year design studio in the Masters of Architecture program at the University of Adelaide. In final year he engaged in an architecture project of high complexity; the proposal for a site located in the City of Adelaide. His project condensed form, subject and concept in a visionary and intellectually consistent proposal that arises as a critical reflection on the relationship between his personal design process, the transition of spatial information through physical modeling and its effects on the poetics of space, while also accommodating the factual parameters of the design brief. Curiosity and exploration are at the centre of any creative process. Matthew has coupled rigorous play concerning his interest and design agendas with an extensive knowledge about resources and limitations of the given task, arriving at a considerate and unique proposal. His excellent knowledge and skill in combining analogue and digital design techniques, together with his exceptional commitment to the task and delicacy in which it is resolved, will make Mathew an asset to every design team. Mathew is a highly motivated and talented man and I have now hesitations in giving him my highest recommendations. Please contact me should you have any more questions.
Respectfully Yours, Dr. Margit BrĂźnner

To Whom It May Concern
This letter confirms that Matthew was invited to participate with our Singapore office in a recent design competition called 2009 Open Architecture Challenge: Classroom, organized by Open Architecture Network. http://www.openarchitecturenetwork.org/competitions/challenge/2009 Matthew, along with 3 other students from ACS were asked to produce sketches of their ideal classroom, accompanied by a survey to share their views on learning spaces and the design of their classroom. They also joined us in a number of design workshops aimed at identifying the functional needs of a classroom whilst creating a space for inspired learning. Mathew responded with promptness and enthusiasm, and gave us invaluable insights into how we could approach the design. We enjoyed working with him and were impressed by his commitment and positive attitude both in the project and through working with us.
Kind Regards,

To Whom it May Concern
I am writing a letter of recommendation in regard to Matthew Chen’s application of acceptance into Architecture at the University of Melbourne. Having coordinated several design studios across third year and first year Landscape Architecture at the University of Adelaide, and having been tutor to Matthew twice, I have found him to be a most dedicated and committed student to the concepts and techniques of Architecture in all its forms. I have no trouble recommending Matthew from my involvement with him thus far as his studio tutor, and hope you will take the time to review his portfolio.
Kind regards
Daniel
