WELCOME TO ORANGE COUNTY
Relax,... and savor the slower pace of life here.
ANTIQUES FESTIVAL AT LLOYD’S DAIRY
PHOTO: ABIGAI L LLOYD Orange County was formed in 1752 and is located between the Research Triangle Park to the east and the cities of Burlington and Greensboro to the west. With more than 148,000 residents, Orange County includes historic Hillsborough, the county seat; Chapel Hill, home of the University of North Carolina; Carrboro and part of Mebane, former railroad and mill towns.
The early history of Orange County spans from being home to Native Americans to the area playing a major role in the Revolutionary War. Orange County has deep historic roots in academia, not only with the University of North Carolina but also with Hillsborough Academy, Bingham School, and Hughes Academy.

EFLAND, MEBANE & CEDAR GROVE ORANGE COUNTY
Much of Orange County is rural with over 100 working farms. Many farmers bring their bounties to local farmers’ markets or open their farms for fun corn mazes or pick-your-own ventures each year. Taste the best ice cream in America, take the annual farm tour or visit an area farm or barn venue, many which serve as event and wedding venues.
One such farm is Merry Hill Farm, a certified Century Farm in Mebane. It currently grows hemp in fields without harmful herbicides or pesticides, and also has pick-your-own hemp days. Additionally, the farm is an outdoor wedding venue featuring a classic two-story white farmhouse with stylish antiques and chandeliers.
MEBANE | Mebane is mostly in Alamance County, sharing its eastern border with Orange County. Mebane’s Lake Michael Park is a beautiful 200-acre park with a 59-acre lake, boat rentals, nature trails, picnic area and covered shelters.
EFLAND | Located along US Route 70, can be reached by exit 160 from interstate 85. A farming community, one of the prominent farms is McAdams Farm which was established in 1885 and is known for their strawberries, produce and cut flowers.
Another is The Barn at Lloyd’s Dairy, also home to numerous weddings and community events including the Tarheel Antiques Festival and the new Tarheel Balloon Festival.
CEDAR GROVE | Cedar Grove is home to Cedar Grove Blueberry Farm, Botanist & Barrel, and Boxcarr Handmade Cheese.
Orange County is a special place to live, work and play.
