WELCOME Thank you for joining us, either in person or from your living room couch! In a year that could be described as “creepy and kooky, mysterious and spooky, all together ooky”, how fitting we are performing The Addams Family tonight. This musical version, based on the characters originally created by cartoonist Charles Addams, opened on Broadway in 2010 and finds the Addams family visiting the graveyard for an annual gathering of all family members, living, dead, and undecided, to celebrate what it is to be an Addams. However, the family encounters an unforeseen obstacle when Wednesday decides to introduce her new “normal” boyfriend Lucas to the family. As the families of Wednesday and Lucas come together for dinner one fateful evening, chaos ensues and they find themselves admitting deep secrets and coming together in ways they never would have imagined. With a score by Andrew Lippa, the show was nominated for two Tonys and won a Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Set Design, an Outer Critics Circle Award for Outstanding Set Design, and the 2010 Drama League Award for Distinguished Achievement in Musical Theatre Award which was presented to Nathan Lane for his portrayal of Gomez Addams. This cast of 22 talented performers have truly created a family among themselves and from the beginning of our process showed their creativity, spirit, and drive. As we found ourselves faced with creating a whole new way to rehearse and perform, each and every day we’ve been amazed at the resilience, flexibility, and heart of these students. I truly could not have asked for a better group of young performers to go through this process with and I hope they know how much they’ve taught me about enjoying the journey and going with the flow. We are so excited they are able to perform for you and experience the thrill of live theatre again in a safe way. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank my students and their families, my theatre team, the Fine Arts Department and the entire NBPS community for your continued support. Alex, thank you for completing our cast and joining in on the fun. Joe and Dave, you’ve brought this spooky world to life in such a wonderful way. Liz and Michelle, thank you for your dedication to this cast and production, I wouldn’t want to take this crazy ride with anyone else. Enjoy the show! Tiffany Lutz

WELCOME
Bruce Fawcett, Head of School
At North Broward Preparatory School it is our mission to enable students to immerse in work that is meaningful and connected to their passions. We see these connections being made in our classrooms, on our athletic fields, and certainly within our myriad fine arts programs. The pursuit of excellence in fine arts can be transformative for students. Disciplines that are developed and skills that are deepened can shape life trajectories for all participants, not just those who will ultimately pursue a career in the fine arts. As I reflect on my own education, learning to create art both in physical and digital formats taught me to look at the world through multiple lenses. Standing on stage and running lines helped me understand the connection between excellence and persistence. Honing a line in a poem helped me understand the power of a wellcrafted message. All of these lessons have impacted my life in positive and unexpected ways. Beyond the purely practical aspect, fine arts in their various forms expand our world view, build empathy, aesthetic appreciation, gratitude, and help us more fully engage with our world and each other. As a community, we believe that when students are passionate about and committed to their own development, their knowledge and skills are impactful well beyond the classroom. I am looking forward to the many evenings spent enjoying the NBPS student work on display throughout the year. I am confident that I will, alongside you, laugh, cheer, applaud, hold my breath, and even shed a tear. We have so much to look forward to as a community. Sincerely, Bruce Fawcett Head of School

WELCOME
Chris Petruzzi, Fine Arts Director
On behalf of the Fine Arts Department, I'm honored to welcome you to our Middle School Musical production of The Addams Family. North Broward Preparatory School's productions are always notable, but I'm incredibly grateful this year for the many creative, quality opportunities that our artists have been afforded (like this one) to safely and fully engage in the art they love. Congratulations to our young artists and dedicated faculty who have given many hours of creative and joyful rehearsal to bring this exceptional production to life. It is gratifying to witness them continue to grow artistically, creatively, academically, and in self-concept through their work together. I'd also like to take this occasion to thank the many supporters who contributed so much to this evening's success.
