Saundersfoot area Saundersfoot
Saundersfoot harbour is the heart of this thriving town. It was built in 1829 and transformed the small fishing village into a thriving industrial port. Queen Victoria decreed that only coal from Saundersfoot should be used to power the first Royal Steam Yacht. Saundersfoot provides easy access to the spectacular coastline of Pembrokeshire. There are large sandy beaches which, along with the harbour, make it easy to relax or enjoy water sports or fishing. The harbour is still very much a working harbour and Saundersfoot Bay offers some of the finest sailing waters in Wales. Saundersfoot has an increasing reputation as a "Gourmet Resort", thanks to the large number of high quality restaurants and cafes and the use of local Pembrokeshire Produce throughout the town. It also offers a wide range of shops for visitors, in which to pick up holiday essentials and the chance to indulge in some pampering spa treatments.

Tenby area Tenby
Tenby is a town steeped in ancient history surrounded by an imposing stone wall, built in the 13th century following the destruction of the town at the hands of Prince Llewelyn in 1260. Visitors can still see the walls and imposing Five Arches throughout the town which is now a busy shopping area. Tenby was very popular with Victorians who flocked to the town, placing great emphasis on Tenby’s health giving properties and sea air. There is a huge variety of things to do or see here. North, South and Castle beach are great for a brisk walk after a lazy Sunday lunch. Every Boxing Day hundreds of brave bathers take part in one of Wales' top festive highlights when they plunge into the sea in fancy dress. The spectacle is watched by huge crowds. Tenby is also on the famous Pembrokeshire coastal path, offering long walks with fabulous views over to Caldey Island, where monks still live. It is close to major tourist attractions such as Folly Farm and Heatherton which are open all year.

Pembroke, Pembroke Dock & surrounding area Pembroke, Pembroke Dock and surrounding area The ancient town of Pembroke was fortified and walled, and sections of these walls are still visible today. Pembroke castle was the home of the earls of Pembroke and was the birthplace of King Henry VII in 1457. Oliver Cromwell personally oversaw its siege and partial destruction during the civil war, but it is a great tourist attraction overlooking the water. Pembroke Dock’s restored buildings offer striking evidence of the town’s rich history. Ferry passengers pass the Royal Dockyard’s elegant Georgian architecture. The Dockyard Chapel (1831) is restored as are the 1930s flying boat hangers. Just outside the yard are the refurbished market and the 1851 Gun Tower on Front Street, which houses the town’s museum. There are also numerous small craft, gift and specialist shops in the towns. Also nearby are numerous beautiful beaches and coastal path walks, with good pubs and teashops dotted through the seaside villages.

Milford Haven and surrounding area Milford Haven and surrounding area Milford has long welcomed travellers. It is believed to be the starting point for the journey of the vast stones for Stonehenge. In 1802 the town was proclaimed by Lord Nelson as one of the finest harbours he’d ever seen. The fishing industry boomed in Milford and it was one of the chief fishing ports of Britain. The landing of sixty thousand tons of fish in 1946 was the highest recorded; however, the industry has steadily declined. Today a Fisherman Statue on the promenade reminds the public of the significance of the fishing industry. Today the beautiful Milford Haven is a busy waterway offering visitors the chance to sail, take fishing or river trips throughout the year. Milford is home to a buzzing marina, with a variety of shops and cafes along with a friendly town centre and The Torch Theatre and cinema.

Haverfordwest and surrounding area Haverfordwest and surrounding area Not many towns claim to be named after fat cows. History holds that the name Haverfordwest means "ford used by fat cows" from Old English hĂŚfar=heifer, fat cows. In local dialect, it is pronounced "harford". Another claim is that Tudor period monarchs called it "Hereford in the West", to distinguish it from the English Hereford in Herefordshire. Visitors to Haverfordwest, the county town, are greeted by the ruins of the castle before proceeding into the town which lies on the tidal Cleddau River. The narrow twisting streets and main high street house a mixture of traditional buildings, shops, cafes and a cinema. In and around the town visitors can find a wealth of things to do, from visiting Haverfordwest Airfield to take a helicopter ride, speeding around a go-karting track, following a nature trail or visiting the county museum housed in historic Scolton Manor.

St Davids and surrounding area St Davids and surrounding area Where better to celebrate St David’s day on March 1st than in Britain’s smallest city? St Davids may only have 2,000 people but it boasts a cathedral, Bishops Palace, Celtic cross, and a growing reputation as the Foodie Capital of the North. It also takes its place amongst the cultural heavyweights with the newly opened Oriel y Park, the Landscape Gallery, which aims to interpret the landscape and heritage of Pembrokeshire. For the more adventurous there is an array of water sports in which to indulge. It is also the only British city to lie entirely inside a national park, the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. This provides great walks, all year round, in the rugged scenery. The picturesque harbour of Solva, just down the road, offers woollen mills, arts and crafts shops, galleries, restaurants, cafes and pubs. It’s perfectly placed on the Pembrokeshire Coastal Path. Exploring along this part of the path will reveal burial chambers, harbours and gulls galore.
