WHAT ARE MANAGED SERVICES PROVIDERS? CHRIS SHORT

Managed Services Providers, or MSPs, are businesses that offer other businesses multiple managed IT services which are often delivered remotely through a network. Services provided include application, infrastructure, network and security, and MSPs also offer continued support and administration to their clients.

SPs are outsourced third-party companies that take the responsibility for a defined set of management services for their customers to improve its day-to-day operations. Often used in large corporations, MSPs are growing in popularity amongst small and medium-sized businesses, as well as non-profit organisations and governments. Often handling non-customer facing operational tasks, an MSP will take over a number of important daily tasks, offering greater efficiency for the company.

Areas that are often outsourced to MSPs include IT, payroll, human resources, workforce management and contingent workforce management, vendor management, contract management and compliance, and procurement and sourcing. The benefits of using an MSP include greatly reduced costs, either from MSP-driven cost savings or from a reduction in the number of staff needed to handle the business’s operations.
