has been up to while our caregivers on the front lines continue to meet the region’s COVID-19 needs head on.

Although we’re happy to work from home for the safety of our caregivers, patients and families, we miss you! The best part of our work is regular conversations with donors over coffee or lunch. We are really eager to get back to these personal visits.

The coronavirus pandemic has changed the world, but it hasn’t changed ChristianaCare’s mission. We remain committed to serving our neighbors with loving, excellent care.

Since in-person get-togethers aren’t possible right now, we’re writing to share a bit about what our Development team

New way, same mission

You are key to this promise. Donor support makes possible our critical work across the region as we begin to coexist with coronavirus, which offers new opportunities to give.

More than ever, your partnership is vital to ChristianaCare. Thank you for your continued support and interest in the health and well-being of your community. We can’t wait to see you again!” DREWRY NASH FENNELL Chief Communications and Experience Officer

Securing the future of health care The year has been stressful for everyone, but there’s a silver lining. COVID-19 tested ChristianaCare’s strength and resolve to lead the way in transforming health care for the future. Through the long winter, spring and summer months of 2020, we delivered the care our neighbors wanted, when and where they needed it most. In doing so, we created lasting service models for the future.

What we’re doing... and why From our living rooms, home offices and kitchen tables, ChristianaCare’s nimble Development team has been doing its part to keep ChristianaCare’s indispensable work going during COVID-19. F

rom the earliest days of COVID-19, ChristianaCare’s first priority was caring for you, your family and our community.

Almost overnight, we transformed how and where we provide health care. Everyone — from our medical staff, to our Information Technology experts, to our Environmental Services team, to our community partners — worked 24/7 to develop safety guidelines and care delivery models that keep our caregivers, patients, families and neighbors safe. In this unprecedented crisis, ChristianaCare created new patient experiences that are here to stay. We’re expanding our use of Telehealth, offering routine and chronic care visits and care monitoring via video and phone. In partnership with CareVio, our award-winning care management program, we’re extending our reach to patients of all ages across densely populated urban regions and remote rural areas. Our more robust use of innovative technologies, including Alexa, Twistle and our Patient Portal, is powering greater connection with patients and allowing us to manage their care and communicate with them in unique ways.

Did a ChristianaCare Caregiver provide outstanding care recently? You can thank them or a care team at Giving.ChristianaCare.org/grateful. Honor a caregiver who made a difference for you or your family. When you give through our Heart of Gold Caregiver Grateful Patient Program to thank a doctor, nurse, therapist or other caregiver, we will acknowledge the caregiver and announce your donation.

My priority is working behind the scenes to strengthen my colleagues’ ability to cultivate giving. With your support, we can make it through this pandemic together and come out even better than before!

Personal protective equipment (PPE) has become the norm across all service lines. And our Environmental Services team has established novel ways of cleaning and sanitizing ChristianaCare facilities, improving on our already excellent quality and safety record.

This is just a small part of our health care transformation — and it’s just the beginning. ChristianaCare continues to evolve as we learn to coexist with COVID-19. On the horizon is more digitally engaged care that increases access and equity for all members of our community. Your partnership is key to this evolution. This new day in health care brings unique and exciting opportunities for giving. In the coming months, ChristianaCare will launch the Securing Tomorrow Fund, a $1 million initiative to continue the outcomes-focused work we implemented during the crisis. System-wide, we met the pandemic head on with love and excellence — and without missing a beat. Even as ChristianaCare’s revenue dropped during state-mandated social isolation practices, we expanded and changed our models of care. We didn’t know we’d be reshaping care for the longer term, but we did. And now we need to ensure it lasts. By supporting the Fund, you will help move health care forward after the unexpected global pandemic. We look forward to telling you more about the Securing Tomorrow Fund and welcoming your participation. Together, we’ll secure a tomorrow that’s focused on the optimal health of our community. Stay tuned for more!
