summer 2017
LETTER FROM THE DIRECTOR
G
reetings fantastic camp families! I am thrilled that you are considering Miami Country Day Camp as your child’s 2017 summer enrichment destination. I know you are making the right choice by allowing us to ensure that your child has the most incredible and life-altering experience with our amazing staff on our state-of-the-art campus. 2016 was truly a turning point for our camp. Not only was it our 90th year of running summer camps, but we also saw a record number of campers, a growth in our wildly experienced staff, and the introduction of a variety of new programs and activities. Our new learnto-swim program was a huge success — one we will continue to develop this summer to ensure our campers are safe and secure near water. Our new Trip Camp program allowed many older campers to experience activities and see places in and around Miami that some had never been to before. Finally, our weekly electives provided the kids with a chance to tailor their own camp schedule for the first time. The summer of 2017 will not only build on all of these wonderful opportunities, but will once again see the introduction of new activities to enhance your child’s summer with us. Our 30,000 square foot Center for the Arts will provide us with a new 600-seat auditorium, a black box theater, ceramics studio, and so much more, boosting our overall camp art offerings and the ever-popular Morning Blast Off! With each year just bigger and better than the last, Miami Country Day Camp simply cannot be matched. I cannot wait to kick it all off on June 12, 2017, and I hope you and your child will join me. Bring on summer!!! Ian McNamara, Day Camp Director

Caring and Compassionate Counselors Our counselors, or Fungineers as we call them, are what really set our camp apart. Our Head Counselors and Specialty Instructors have extensive experience in their fields. Many are teachers or employed in education and are CPR trained and certified. The vast majority of Assistant Counselors are 16 years of age or older and have progressed from our volunteer and CIT programs. Our student volunteers are proud community service participants who assist in ensuring your child is safe and having the best summer ever.
Age-appropriate Activities Miami Country Day Camp tailors your child’s schedule with age-appropriate activities to ensure maximum safety and the best possible enrichment experience.
