Welcome to our 2014 brochure, where you’ll find a range of inspiring ideas to help you choose the perfect holiday for you and your family. We’ve got new themed holidays and breaks this year at our exclusive collection of hotels. We’re also introducing a new concept with ‘Stay As You Please’: it’s where you choose to stay at any of our fabulous hotels and we help guide you to the areas of interest or tourist destinations in the local area. It means you can stay at any time and don’t have an arranged itinerary. This year also sees the introduction of two new partnerships with Ramblers Worldwide and Robinsons Holidays. All the holidays use Christian Guild hotels and provide a wider scope of holiday options for everyone. We’ve been welcoming guests for nearly a century, and we’re always encouraged as we welcome guests back each year. We see a high percentage of people returning to stay with us, and we’re always delighted when you choose to holiday with us again. If you’ve never stayed before, or just visited one hotel, then let me remind you that we have a collection of five wonderful hotels. They all boast superb grounds, that are perfect for relaxing in. THEMED BREAKS If you have a hobby or want to try a new experience, then our themed breaks are renowned for offering a fun-packed holiday. You can choose from a wide range of activities whether you’re staying with us on your own or want to bring the whole family to try an exciting stay. We have arranged a lot of new breaks for 2014, so there’s more chance for you to try a new hobby. Best of all you’ll meet like-minded people, and we’re sure you’ll make new friends. You can choose what you do on a themed break too. So if you decide to visit a local tourist attraction during your stay, that’s up to you – you’re not obliged to take part in every activity because it’s all about you doing what you enjoy when you take a well-earned break.
Package prices If you decide to try a themed break, then you’ll get a much better deal if you opt for our package price. Book your break and your accommodation together and it’s cheaper than booking separately. It means you can enjoy high quality en-suite accommodation and all the cost of excursions, tuition, materials and even, in some cases, packed lunches are paid for in advance of your holiday. It’s a great way to save on your stay.
NO SINGLE SUPPLEMENTS If you holiday alone, you’ll know that many hotels and holiday companies add a supplement to the advertised price if you’re on your own. But not at Christian Guild. Take a look at any of our themed breaks or stay as you please at any of our wonderful hotels, and the price you see is the price you pay, even if you’re travelling alone. With a wonderful warm welcome and friendly atmosphere, you’ll find our hotels offer a great break for you. And we’re sure you’ll meet new, like-minded friends.
HOSTS As well as being looked after by our friendly and caring staff, you’ll also be welcomed by our wonderful hosts. Our hosts make sure you have everything you need, take care of you on excursions and trips, and lead the devotions and entertainment during your stay with us. ituated on the edge of the Lake District, Abbot Hall Hotel is a charming country hotel with a relaxing environment.
Nestling in the hamlet of Kents Bank, near Grange-over-Sands, the 19th century mansion boasts a wide range of facilities, including a 15m heated indoor swimming pool and a children's adventure area.
The hotel is an ideal base for exploring the stunning Cumbrian scenery. For those relaxing at the hotel, there are well-appointed lounges. Diners are offered a delicious choice of home-cooked dishes, with locally-sourced produce where possible. Sarah Bell is a Devon-based artist whose paintings are a celebration of light and colour. W alking the Wye Valley – Lindors Country House Hotel Secluded charm, ancient woodland and the majestic River Wye Perhaps the most unspoilt river valley in Britain, the Wye flows though breath-taking scenery rich in Welsh and English history. The 800 year old ruins of Tintern Abbey still stand tall, and further downstream lies the historic border town of Chepstow with its early Norman Castle. O ffa’s Dyke – Lindors Country House Hotel A walk through an ancient fortified borderland from Kington to Chepstow The Offa’s Dyke Path runs for 177 miles from Prestatyn on the North Wales coast to Chepstow on the Severn Estuary. The route follows the 8th century barrier built by Offa, the King of Mercia, to protect his kingdom from his rivals in what is now Wales. We’ll walk the southern 65 miles of the route from the traditional English town of Kington to the city gates of Chepstow in six sections during the week, returning each night to our comfortable hotel. The trail covers one of the hidden jewels of the Welsh crown! Along the way we’ll encounter Hay-onWye at the end of one of the best day’s walking; the highest part of the trail on the Hatterall Ridge crossing the Black Mountains; and join the Wye Valley to pass Tintern Abbey as we walk towards Chepstow.

Familiarisation Visits We believe it’s important for our group organisers to be sure about the accommodation and the holiday they are booking on behalf of their group. For this reason we are happy to offer familiarisation visits to any of our Hotels Designed to help you plan your trip, we can offer the group organiser plus one other an overnight stay (subject to availability) at your chosen hotel. This visit will give you the opportunity to check out the accommodation and facilities, which in turn will enable you to plan your stay with us more effectively.

There's nothing like reconnecting with family and friends. Whether it's for a birthday, a reunion or just because. Our aim is to make it as easy as we can for you to plan the perfect group tour and then for you and your members to enjoy a wonderful holiday together. We try to make everything as simple as possible for you with as much or as little input from you as you prefer. Just let us know how we can do that and we’ll do it! All kinds of groups are very welcome, including church groups and clubs, school and youth groups, walking clubs and coach parties for holidays and short breaks. So if you are planning a church 'away day' or weekend, an activity break for young people, a school field trip, a walking holiday for your local rambling club, or any similar break, then do contact us. Our dedicated Groups team has many years' experience in arranging group holidays. Our Specialist will work closely with you to plan just the right itinerary for your group, and take care of all the details and reservations so you can relax. Even once you arrive, you will always have an array of options. Whatever your group would like to do on holiday our experienced team is here to help with the arrangements and ensure you have a wonderful time. You can even have sole occupancy of one of our hotels and enjoy themed meals, or even a party night.
Terms & Conditions HOTEL BOOKING CONDITIONS a) Terms are per person per night, inclusive of VAT. b) Half Board includes dinner, bed and breakfast from evening meal on day of arrival to breakfast on day of departure. No allowance can be made for meals not taken. c) Special diets or other requirements will, whenever possible be catered for if Managers are informed when booking. d) No single room supplement is charged. However, the number of single rooms is limited and we reserve the right to restrict the number of double or twin rooms allowed for single occupancy. e) Guests unable to vacate the premises by themselves, in case of emergency, must be accompanied by friends or relatives. f) Car parking is entirely at the owner’s risk. g) Dogs or other pets cannot be taken, with the exception of registered assistance dogs for people with disabilities. h) We ask our customers not to bring or consume their own alcoholic drinks on the premises. i) Bookings should be made with the hotel of your choice. A non-refundable deposit of £50.00 per adult (£10 per child 5 years and over) per week or part thereof, is due with each booking, payments accepted by cheque, credit/debit card. Full payment is due one calendar month prior to the commencement of your stay. The deposit per lodge is £100; see lodge booking conditions below. j) Credit card payments will incur an additional charge of 1.5% k) Bookings generally can only be accepted for a type of room, eg. Superior, En-suite or Non en-suite. Specific room requests will be considered, however this will be subject to availability and hotel general manager
agreement. Acceptance of a booking with specific room request will incur a fee of £15 per room per week. (Not applicable to disability friendly bedrooms). l) VAT at 20% is included in the terms shown but will be charged at any changed rate applicable at the time of payment for the holiday. m) We reserve the right to alter our published Terms in extreme circumstances including changes in taxation. n) If in exceptional circumstances, we find that we are unable to offer the accommodation booked, a full refund will be given unless alternative accommodation is agreed. o) If we have to make a significant change or cancel a themed break we will tell you as soon as possible. You will be offered an alternative holiday or receive a full refund. Where our liability is limited we will not pay any expenses, costs or losses you may incur as a result of any change or cancellation. No compensation is payable for minor changes or where we cancel or make a significant change before the date of the balance of your holiday costs falls due. Minor changes do not entitle you to cancel or change to another holiday without paying our normal charges. p) The company reserves the right to charge guests for all damage to hotel property. LODGE BOOKING CONDITIONS The above hotel booking conditions apply as appropriate to lodge bookings. Terms are per lodge per night, inclusive of VAT, on a self-catering basis with a minimum stay of three nights except as indicated elsewhere in this brochure. The deposit payable per lodge is £100 and payments should be made in accordance with our hotel booking conditions. BOOKINGS All bookings should be made direct to the hotel of your choice. INSURANCE When you book a holiday you are entering into a legally binding contract, which, if cancelled or curtailed, will incur a cancellation charge. The company does not offer any form of holiday insurance or cancellation cover. As a Christian organisation we feel it important, and would strongly recommend, that all guests comprehensively insure their holiday against all eventualities with an insurer of their choice. Guests from outside the UK must be covered by adequate insurance covering cancellation, sickness, accident or other misfortune. CANCELLATION Should you, or any member of your party, be forced to cancel your booking for any reason you should notify the manager of the hotel concerned in writing at the earliest opportunity, enclosing any relevant and supporting documentation. A cancellation will take effect from the date written notice is received by the company. Cancellations will incur the following payments: • One calendar month or more before arrival: Deposit only. • Less than one calendar month before arrival: Two thirds. • Less than 48 hours before arrival: Full cost of holiday (no refund). Deposits are non-refundable. All refund amounts detailed above will be calculated after deduction of the deposit paid. If the reason for cancellation is covered under the terms of your holiday insurance policy you may be able to reclaim these charges.
